He started only his second season (I think) in British speedway on 5.27 and finished on 6.95 and he’s still only 22. What more did you expect?

That looks really nasty and amazing he walked away -
Has Kelv put his heating on yet?

This has been a holding year with Eurosport as it looks like British speedway along with the GPs will be shown under the Discovery+ identity. And maybe with different commentators for both the UK product and the worldwide feed? Although Kelvin does a solid job, Nigel has come across as disinterested and error strewn this year, almost like someone who knows his time is up. It’s a shame, really, because they used to make a good team but that just hasn’t happened this year. I’m not sure who could or would replace him - hopefully not another ex-rider - but I think both Nigel and speedway would benefit from a parting of the ways…..in my opinion. -
The fine for forfeiting would be substantially higher than the wage cost. Is there maybe disagreement between the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman when one is clearly taking the proverbial out of the other with team line ups, home and away?

You were saying???

The only one that might have been considered ahead of one of the five is Kubera, but he lost out because there were already four Poles in the field. As far as Morris is concerned, he’s employed by FIM not the promoters and has been the best race director by far.

I think you’re getting confused! Holder was injured at Coventry on 5 July 2013 and didn’t race again that season. Hancock was brought in to help Poole make the play offs a month later - he made his debut at Poole on 5 August 2013, long before the cut off. Initially, he was only signed for a few meetings but he was persuaded to stay to the end of the season on the grounds that it was his best chance to win his only UK league championship. Which he managed

A trust can be set up in whatever way the initial contributors, also know as the settlers, decide, by way of a trust deed. Thereafter, the trustees have the sole power to ensure that monies are spent according the deed. The deed should say how trustees are appointed and how they can be removed. So, the above comments really only define how a supporters’ club operates but could also apply to a trust as long as that is how the deed is written.

Shame they threw out the “professional foul” rule which would have made his team partner start off 15 metres in the re-run

That’s one of your best……here fishy fishy

What’s up with Rowe?

Thanks. That’s what I expected. Dan is about the same stage as Robert was this time last year as far as Poland is concerned, but still well behind on the international scene. But which one will get the nod for the SON? The home specialist or the more experienced rider?

Who is higher in the Polish league averages, Bewley or Lambert?

On the basis of who attracts the better crowds, I think Poole win that hands down. TBH, I find the speed at the NSS exhilarating, the racing less so. Last Monday’s meeting was a good case in point, in my view.

I think the track at Poole has been awesome for years. Just look at the old stuff and you’ll realise that no one had a smooth track and yet nowadays everyone wants something like a supermarket car park. You have to ride hard and fast to score well at Poole. You only have to ride fast at the NSS. I know which one I prefer

Now there you go again, making assumptions and being rude to anyone who dares question your intimate knowledge. For the record, knowing what Duns consists of, a small oval with no services, facilities or air fence, I’m astonished at the figure of £70,000. I thought it would be far less. If that’s “all” you get for £70k, in my view, you’ve no chance, starting from scratch, of getting a full sized and fully licensed professional circuit for £150,000. It is also my opinion that what is needed at Newcastle is a local promotion, made up of people who know something about how to run a speedway business, who can work to bring back a quality team to the current venue. The 2021 Diamonds were built down to a price and the supporters knew that from the start.

Honestly or otherwise My “site experience” is irrelevant. I was telling you what Redcar cost, which, despite your assertion, did not include a permanent stand. My figures are based on actual rather than theoretical and are more than borne out if your estimate of the cost of getting the 126 metre training track at Duns, which seems to lack any services, is correct.
-
There was no permanent stand at Redcar when it opened. The only solid construction was the pits area. Everything else was portakabins and a temporary stand. Although you might get away, temporarily, with a generator if you couldn’t afford to lay on a mains cable (though goodness knows how much that would cost to run, especially if you needed floodlights) any new track these days would need to have either water in and waste out or expensive portaloos. Although well intentioned - and, of course, now irrelevant - the thought that you could get anything set up for £150,000 seems unlikely. Anyone know how much the Duns training track cost to set up? That would be your base price before allowing for everything extra required for a professional track

The cost of getting Redcar speedway from a brownfield site to being open for racing in 2006 (in a very basic stadium) was in excess of £250,000 which equates to nearly £400,000 now. On that basis, when you add in the cost of an air fence, if the existing one can’t be used (and something that wasn’t required in 2006) you are looking at £425,000 for a basic set up. The other end is a purpose built stadium like Belle Vue. It cost in excess of £9m. I’m really not sure what you’d get for £150,000, but I doubt it would be anything like the proposed Newcastle set up

Tbh, I don’t see that as tongue in cheek, more an accurate description of what has happened. I will neither defend nor condemn the previous owners as I have no knowledge of what went on. I have read the allegations but am not aware that these have gone further than that. I know that HMRC have lodged a claim with the liquidators for a sum in excess of £158,000 from the previous company but, as this company is heading for voluntary rather than compulsory liquidation, that suggest that, one way or another, that claim will be or has been settled. As far as I am aware, no criminal proceedings have been started, something that you’d expect if there had been deliberate malfeasance. So, to me, the above comments ring true - a promotion that didn’t know what it was buying and got rid of all of the people that could have guided them, and instead used people lacking the necessary skills. When it was suggested that Neil Machin would be involved, that seemed a positive move but that quickly disappeared. Dave Tattum is certainly experienced but not recently at Championship level. Indeed, he had to drop down to the Development League from the then Premier league because he couldn’t make the PL pay. The final “nail” is knowing of people willing to help share the financial burden of 2021, who wanted to see survival this year with a push forward with a more competitive team in 2022 whose offers of assistance were turned down. Hopefully, there’s enough of them around that’ll take the club off the current promotion’s hands, and keep the Diamonds alive.

It was agreed to do away with that at the 2017 or 2018 AGM. It never really counted for anything anyway.
