  1. I think there are at least two threads here too (been merged by mods) just to make it more confusing!!
  2. Fair point and apologies - I hadn't spotted that. Interesting that BSI don't use the FIM's official definitions, which state: Qualified Rider: A rider who qualifies for the Speedway Grand Prix series either by virtue of his position in the Final Grand Prix Classification of the previous year or by finishing in the top three of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualification system. Nominated Rider: A rider who is selected by the SGP Commission to participate in the Speedway Grand Prix series. Qualified Substitute Rider: A rider appearing on the list of Qualified Substitutes approved and published by the SGP Commission. Wild Card Rider: A rider selected by the SGP Commission to participate in an individual round of the SGP series. Track Reserve Rider: A rider nominated by his FMN and approved by the SGP Commission to take part as a meeting reserve rider during an individual round of the SGP series. Apparently FIM don't use the phrase seeded rider either!
  3. We don't need another thread and they're NOT WILD CARDS!
  4. 1. Terry Day - 2, 1, 2, 1, 2 = 8 2. Olly Rayson - 0, 2, 1, 2, 2 = 7 3. Barrie Evans - 1, 2, 3, 2, 3 = 11 4. Taylor Poole - 3, F, 3, 3, 3 = 12 5. Simon Lambert - 3, 3, 2, 3, 2 = 13 6. Nick Laurence - 0, 0, 1, 0, 0 = 1 7. Lee Strudwick - 1, 1, EF, 0, EF = 2 8. James Sarjeant - 2, 1, 1, 1, 1 = 6 9. Luke Priest - 3, 0, 0, 2, 3 = 8 10. Jari Makinen - = INJURED 11. Scott Campos - X, = INJURED 12. Darren Mallett - 2, 3, 3, 3, 2 = 13 13. Matt Wright - 0, 2, 2, 3, 1 = 8 14. James Cockle - 3, 3, 2, 2, 1 = 11 15. Dan Halsey - 2, 3, 0, 1, 3 = 9 16. Arlo Bugeja - 1, 2, 3, 1, 1 = 8 I think the scorecard underlines the even nature of the field, and the luck of the draw took the meeting to a Heat 20 decider before the run-off. A very enjoyable afternoon and credit to all at Mildenhall.
  5. Absolutely not! As a former Club Chairman at Mildenhall in Mick Horton's time I retain a fondness for the Club and I am always keen to support 3rd tier racing as the way forward for our sport in this country. By the way I am Managing Director not proprietor of Renaissance Property Management Ltd Edited for typos
  6. Steve are you thinking of the Wild Card place at Cardiff or as a nominated rider pick for the whole series?
  7. To avoid confusion in this topic, the full-time riders chosen to appear in the series are "nominated riders", the riders chosen to take the 16 race-jacket in individual GPs are "Wild Card riders".

After another long delay Jones & Govier withdrew there and then, Archer completed a lap or so of his second ride then also withdrew. The parade incident involved Adam Portwood's mother and his 500cc machine leading to Adam competing in the 250 class only. All four injured parties suffered no major injuries.
  9. For clarity I have just confirmed the arrangements with the stadium. Under 15 meeting 3pm start - free admission. The stadium will be closed and cleared National League meeting 7.30pm - Kings Lynn Art and Stitch Barracudas v Bournemouth Buccaneers - normal admission applies.
  10. He certainly did, his father Geoff was a Clerk of the Course at Peterborough and ran a motor engineering company in Eye Green just outside the town. Andy rode for the Panthers from 1978 - 1983 - an odd meeting in the first couple of years then four full seasons as a steady second-string.
  11. I understand that the Under-15 round will start at 3pm on Saturday 22nd August followed by Kings Lynn "Art and Stitch" Barracudas v Bournemouth Buccaneers. Full details to follow
  12. I understand an official press release will follow very shortly. (Or I will post once I know ............)
  13. FIM Regulations 077.9.2: Ties After the completion of Heat 20, 21 or 22 When establishing the order between the riders in the list of Intermediate Classification at the conclusion of Heat 20, or following the completion of the Semi-Final Heats 21 and 22, any ties will be solved as follows: a) Precedence will be given to the riders (tied on race points) having the most number of 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th placings (a '0' for last placing is better than being disqualified for whatever reason). B ) If the tie still persists and involves only 2 riders, precedence will be given to the better placed rider in the heat or heats where the 2 riders met. c) If the tie still persists and involves more than 2 riders, it shall be checked whether there is a possibility to determine a proper precedence (e.g. 3 riders tied on points: A, B, C: rider A has beaten rider B rider A has beaten rider C rider B has beaten rider C Then the precedence will be: best position for rider A, then rider B and then rider C. 24 d) If solutions a), B ) and c) cannot resolve the tie, then the lowest riding number jacket will be deemed the better placed rider.
  14. Is there a link available yet?
  15. Great news Pat and we are proud to support the meeting each year.
  16. I was really disappointed that we couldn't be there, and would have willingly swopped my chest infection for an afternoon out. I hope that those that WERE there will spread the word so that we can get some momentum for these meetings in 2009
  17. The meeting will be proudly sponsored by Renaissance Property Management Limited (rpm.org.uk)
  18. Last night was one of the most enjoyable meetings I have ever attended, and I can only echo almost everything said above. Those of you who were at the meeting had a treat, those who weren’t should make a real effort to attend the next one to see what you missed. Angela and I were proud to play a small part in getting the meeting on, and Buster’s contribution was crucial. In the end though, without riders there is no meeting, and in this case without parents there are no riders! Last night saw 13 keen riders supported by 13 dedicated families. They were all well-presented, professional and got on with the job, with no histrionics, gardening or showboating. Just 13 great riders – all a pleasure to work with. There seems to be growing chorus that this is the future for British speedway. The number of venues that can stage a meeting such as this is limited, but in my opinion we should make every effort to see these events multiply. Last night must not be a one-off! I have made no secret of my wish to be involved in making meetings like this a regular event and I know I’m not alone. Please keep posting your thoughts here so that we can keep the momentum going.
  19. I hope the fans come out in force for this meeting, and generous thanks should go to Buster & Jonathan for setting the admission at such a bargain rate. I wouldn't miss it for the world and am bringing along a few 'new-to-speedway' guests as part of our sponsorship.
  20. Next Wednesday sees the pride of British youngsters take to the track in a 15 heat challenge meeting. The meeting is proudly sponsored by Renaissance Property Management Limited (www.rpm.org.uk)
  21. Looks as though the powers-that-be are having a rethink already as the draw has been removed from the BSPA website.
  22. The race formula is fixed so you shouldn't be confused! Riders placed 1st, 4th, 6th and 7th in the intermediate classification will take part in Semi-final 1 (Heat 21). Riders placed 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 8th in the intermediate classification will take part in Semi-final 2 (Heat 22).
