  1. The 125 meeting was a cracker - 13 heats in an hour, no false starts or falls. Kyle Bickley retained his title, all twelve riders tried their socks off but a special mention for Harry McGurk who fought from last to second in the final and wasn't too far away from Kyle at the finish.
  2. The 125 race card is part of the meeting programme Admission prices and programme cost are unchanged Weather is dry and cloudy and cooler than yesterday! Gates open 2pm, 125s at 2.30pm, PL at 5pm Panthers 1970 team reunion Face painting, Men in Black and Farewell to Ryan Sullivan during the afternoon.
  3. Gates open 2pm, 125 Championship starts at 2,.30pm, PL match at 5pm
  4. Ryan is injured, Lasse rides in the World Under 21 championship.
  5. 17th March Press Release COVENTRY and Peterborough are delighted to announce a major joint Ticket Buster promotion – which allows £10 admission for season ticket holders of every Elite and Premier League club at the two venues. The offer applies to any Elite (Coventry) or Premier League (Peterborough) fixture at either track, and admission will be available at £10 for any season-ticket holder of a club not involved in the meeting in question. This means, for example, that a Bees season-ticket holder can visit the Showground and see any league fixture, primarily staged on Tuesdays, for £10 – whilst Panthers season-ticket holders can also get a fix of Elite League racing at Brandon, generally on Fridays, also for £10. American star Ryan Fisher races for both teams, whilst Coventry Storm’s Oliver Greenwood and club asset Joe Jacobs line up at reserve for the Panthers, and Peterborough asset Hans Andersen is the Coventry senior No.1. The offer is extended to season ticket holders of all other Elite and Premier League clubs, except when their own club visits the venue in question. Promoter Mick Horton said: “I know a similar scheme has operated before between tracks at Premier League level, and with my involvement at two clubs it gives us the chance for some crossover promotions. “I’m sure some Coventry fans would like to check the progress of their club assets racing in the Premier League, and likewise there will be supporters at Peterborough who would like to still see some live Elite League racing. “It then seemed sensible that we extend that offer across the top two leagues, so the message is that neutral supporters who fancy a night out at either venue are more than welcome.” All £10 admissions must be accompanied by the holder’s season ticket, which are not transferable for any event.
  6. I'm bemused now.... We've recognised that season ticket holders have paid up front for their speedway and have offered to make them welcome at Brandon without paying twice. 'Weekly payers' by definition haven't paid in advance but are welcome to pay weekly at Brandon moving forward!
  7. Brummie attire welcome! I am confused by the 'weekly paying' reference though - please explain!
  8. PETERBOROUGH star Ryan Fisher is facing shoulder surgery which will keep him out of action for up to two months. The Panthers are now searching for a guest for the American star to ride at Workington in the League Cup semi-final on Sunday, and then for a permanent replacement. Co-promoter Trevor Swales said: “It is a massive blow for Ryan to learn his season is virtually over and he will be a big loss to the club. It goes without saying that everyone at Peterborough wishes him well. “Our first task now is to come up with a guest for Sunday and then we need to quickly assess our options going forward. We cannot even contemplate using rider replacement to cover the length of absence that Ryan is going to have.”

  10. If '25yearfan' refers to your time supporting Peterborough you will know only too well that consistent Friday nights at the Showground are simply not available any more - the move away from Fridays over the years has certainly not been by choice for any promotion. Had Panthers regular race-night been a Friday then the team-building would clearly have taken on a different complexion but it's frankly laughable to suggest that we deliberately avoided Fridays to accommodate Ryan.
  11. The promotion held the gates closed until the referee declared the meeting would go ahead. As soon as the referee postponed the meeting the gates were closed. Peterborough are bringing in three Danes, a Czech and a Polish based rider. A call- off at that time incurs pretty much all the fixed costs except the riders pay, and mileage for both sides. You honestly think we postponed willingly or hastily? I understand for you Chris, and maybe others, this is an opportunity to have a dig at Mick, but I suggest you bear in mind that neither Mick nor I are Promoters at Peterborough and have no influence over decisions such as tonight's, although had the meeting been at Coventry the timeline would have been exactly the same. The call-off tonight has cost a great deal of money, hard work and aggravation - like you all I'm a speedway fan and expected to be watching a cracking meeting in balmy weather, not to be at home typing this and worrying about when the meeting can be restaged. I repeat, if any of you think this meeting was called of with pre-meditation you are 100% wrong. Feel free to contact me off-list should you wish to do so - info@peterboroughpanthers.co
  12. Come out of the Showground and turn left , then almost immediately turn right to the A1 south.
  13. This will only affect drivers approaching from the east - I suggest that instead of turning off at the Gordon Arms pub and coming down the Oundle Road drivers carry on to the Hampton roundabout and turn right towards the A1.
  14. Peterborough home meetings this season: Rye House Plymouth (abandoned) Somerset Plymouth Ipswich Newcastle Scunthorpe Plymouth Ipswich Workington Sheffield Redcar
  15. Tuesday was 'continuity day' - nothing to do with Coventry or Ryan - we understood that the disjointed fixture list wasn't ideal, and anticipated that a regular race-night would improve the crowds. Weekend dates are always at a premium when fitting in around all the other events at the Showground.
  16. Charles Wright will be the guest tonight as Somerset's meeting is off. (No 6 on the FTDR list - Steve Worrall is No 4)
  17. Tai Woffinden (Wolverhampton) Chris Harris (Coventry) Danny King (Birmingham/Newcastle) Craig Cook (Belle Vue/Edinburgh) Simon Stead (Leicester/Sheffield) Richie Worrall (Belle Vue/Ipswich) Richard Lawson (Lakeside/Redcar) Ben Barker (Birmingham/Plymouth) Lewis Bridger (Lakeside) Lewis Kerr (King’s Lynn/Newcastle)
  18. The facility is a PL guest up to 6.00 Storm: James Sarjeant - Bees FTDR Oliver Greenwood, Dan Greenwood, Luke Crang, Ryan Terry-Daley, Martin Knuckey - not in PL 1-7 That leaves Stefan Nielsen who hasn't ridden since his crash at Brandon.
  19. Not sure how that would have helped - the issue with the sun is coming off the third bend (or first bend.....)
  20. COVENTRY Storm raced to a convincing 55-40 win at Buxton on Sunday – to put one foot firmly into the semi-finals of the National League Knockout Cup. Luke Crang scored a four-ride paid maximum for the City Gearboxes Storm, whose top four on the day were all in consistent race-winning form at the Hi-Edge Raceway in the continued absence of British Under-19 Champion Stefan Nielsen. Crang formed a dynamic partnership with Oliver Greenwood, with both riders thankfully back from injury and securing 5-1 advantages in all three of their races together. Skipper James Sarjeant reeled off wins in his first three rides before unluckily spinning out on turn four in Heat 13 when he looked set for a 5-1 with Greenwood, whilst Oliver’s namesake Dan collected impressive wins in his last two outings. Reserve duo Ryan Terry-Daley and Martin Knuckey helped the Storm make a terrific start to the meeting as they scored an untroubled 5-1 in Heat 2, although both were then involved in a series of incidents in tough track conditions. The home side had fallers in each of the first three races, Ryan Blacklock coming to grief when he held the lead on the fourth bend of Heat 3, whilst Knuckey came down twice in Heat 4 with Sarjeant a clear winner. Crang and Oliver Greenwood had seen off home No.1 Liam Carr in Heat 1 and did the job again in Heat 5 against Blacklock and Tom Woolley, whilst a good first lap of action in Heat 6 saw Sarjeant re-pass Carr to extend the Storm’s lead to 14 points. The vastly experienced Tony Atkin won a tactical ride in Heat 7 for the Hitmen with Knuckey coming down right at the exit of turn four when holding third place, whilst Terry-Daley was a first-bend faller in Heat 9 and Knuckey went into the second-bend air-fence in the next race when making a determined effort to pass Adam Extance. But further race wins for Crang and Sarjeant maintained a nine-point Coventry lead, which became 13 when Crang and Oliver Greenwood held an ever-trying Atkin at bay in Heat 11. Dan Greenwood hit the front in Heat 12 only for the race to be stopped when Terry-Daley and Extance tangled on turn three, with the home rider disqualified. Greenwood repeated his fast start next time out to limit Blacklock, taking the second tactical ride, to four points. Carr ended Oliver Greenwood’s unbeaten run by winning Heat 13 at the second attempt after Sarjeant had fallen, the Storm captain being frustrated by a broken clutch lever as he tried to clear his machine from the circuit. The gap at this stage was 11 points but the Storm further extended it in the final two races, Dan Greenwood taking Heat 14 after a fall for Stefan Farnaby, and there was another 4-2 in the last as Oliver Greenwood rounded Carr on turn two with Sarjeant just failing to make it through on the inside. It means the Storm take a 15-point lead into the second leg at Brandon on a date to be confirmed, and they next go into action in the National League at King’s Lynn on Friday. Manager Laurence Rogers said: “It was an excellent job done by the whole team on what was a very rough track. We did ask for it to be graded after two races and that was when we were 10-2 up, but it was a great team performance. “Olly and Luke were a tremendous opening partnership, Sarj was on it, and Dan was back to his best. It was nice to have most of the team back together and helping each other, and also nice to see the Coventry fans here to support them – it’s very much appreciated. “I do feel sorry for Martin Knuckey because he put a lot in on a track where he broke his arm two years ago, and he was trying so hard. “Now we need to get the second leg arranged as soon as we can, because a semi-final against a certain Cradley would be a very nice one!” BUXTON 40: Liam Carr 11, Tony Atkin 10, Ryan Blacklock 7, Tom Woolley 6+1, Adam Extance 4, Stefan Farnaby 2+1, Sean Phillips 0. COVENTRY 55: Oliver Greenwood 13+1, Dan Greenwood 12, Luke Crang 10+2, James Sarjeant 10, Ryan Terry-Daley 8+1, Martin Knuckey 2+1, Stefan Nielsen r/r. ENDS
  21. As Panthers are running RR as well, it makes sense to use the facilities in this way.
