Wolves V Coventry Monday 30th March
NeilWatson replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I understand your thoughts, but we have to be open to the possibility of losing a rider to injury early in the meeting. -
Reserves are not eligible for Heat 15 - see SR 17.2.1
-
As part of Coventry's commitment to development in speedway, we wanted to give a couple of Premier League fence panels the opportunity to gain Elite League experience before deciding whether to move up full time.....
-
The air fence is being bought by the Club.

COVENTRY’S home leg of the National League Grand Final against Cradley on Friday will now take place AT LEICESTER (7.30pm). The club have been informed that Brandon Stadium is no longer available as the staging venue for this meeting due to preparations for Saturday’s Stock Car event. An alternative venue has therefore been sourced as it was felt this was a far more preferable option than to simply concede the tie. Coventry Speedway wish to thank Leicester promoter David Hemsley and his staff for their co-operation in allowing the use of the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium for this important meeting, as well as the Cradley management for their agreement to the change. The City Gearboxes Storm trail the Heathens by just ten points going into the second leg of their National League title-deciding clash. We acknowledge the circumstances are far from ideal but we hope as many supporters as possible will be able to make the trip to Leicester to back the Storm on Friday. Admission: Adults £12, Children Free. Programme: £2.

COVENTRY’S home leg of the Elite League Grand Final goes ahead at Brandon on Friday (7.30pm) – with old rivals Poole providing the opposition. It’s a repeat of the memorable 2010 Final which produced some of the most astonishing scenes in Elite League history as the Buildbase Bees won both home and away to take the title. But this is their first Final since then, whilst the Pirates are now in the showpiece for a fifth successive season, and are looking to retain the title they won against Birmingham last year. Poole booked their place when the thrice-postponed semi-final against King’s Lynn finally went ahead on Thursday – although the weather had a big say again, with the second half of the meeting proceeding in atrocious conditions, and the Pirates eventually collected a five-point aggregate win. Coventry have been kicking their heels since dramatically overcoming Swindon in the semi-finals, and they now face the only team to have taken an away win from Brandon in the last five months – but Bees themselves also won at Wimborne Road earlier in the season. It all points to an intriguing Final, with the second leg to take place in Dorset on Monday. Bees will be back to their full one-to-seven for the meeting as Ben Barker makes his return from injury, having recovered from shoulder damage suffered in the home match against Leicester at the end of August. Poole’s full line-up is to be confirmed, but it will be a first return to Brandon in team competition for Przemyslaw Pawlicki, who was a hero for the Bees in that 2010 success – and Pawlicki along with Polish colleague Maciej Janowski and in-form reserve Kyle Newman have been stalwarts of the Pirates’ team this year. Coventry manager Gary Havelock said: “I’m happy to have the first leg at home, and as a strategy I think it’s definitely the way to go. “Poole beat us at Coventry last time but the track turned out quite slick that time, whereas in most meetings lately we’ve had a decent dirt-line around the outside which is what the majority of our riders like – although with all this weather around, we’ll have to wait and see how things are. “Ben says he’s fit and desperate to ride, and one thing we know we’ll get from him is 100 per cent commitment, he wants to win badly and so do all the boys.” BUILDBASE BEES (from): Hans Andersen, Ben Barker, Jason Garrity, Kenneth Hansen, Chris Harris, Kyle Howarth, James Sarjeant. POOLE line-up to be confirmed. Admission prices: Adults £20, OAP/Concessions £15, Under-16s £5, Under-11s Free. Coventry season tickets valid. Programme £3.

COVENTRY Storm face the biggest match of their season on Monday when they take on powerhouse Cradley in the first leg of the National League Grand Final at Brandon (7.30pm). The meeting has been brought forward by seven days due to the re-arrangement of the senior team’s Final in the Elite League, so the City Gearboxes Storm are the first to go into action in the vital closing stages of the season. And having been the only team throughout 2014 to get the better of the Heathens, that coming in a dramatic Brandon clash on Easter Monday, they are looking for some kind of a lead to take to Monmore for the second leg next Tuesday. Whilst the Storm were overcoming Kent in a competitive semi-final, Cradley romped to a 41-point home win over Mildenhall and then finished the job by winning at West Row last weekend. The Heathens track a team with potential race-winners in every department, several of whom could be No.1s at other clubs – and they include Steve Worrall and Paul Starke, whose respective Premier League clubs have qualified for the Grand Final at that level. But the Storm have also gained in strength from their semi-final line-up with Stefan Nielsen expected back from a near two-month injury absence, although a planned try-out at Kent last Friday was ruled out due to the weather. Club asset Joe Jacobs again steps in at No.1 in place of injured British Under-19 Champion Oliver Greenwood whilst James Sarjeant leads the team fresh from his 18-point maximum in the semi-final and a run of crucial scores for the senior team in their own title charge. Storm boss Laurence Rogers said: “It’s going to be a special tie. Cradley are on fire as we know, and I’m sure it’s going to be entertaining to say the least. “If we can get everyone going, we can do it. It’s a shame Ollie is out for the rest of the season as his knee damage is worse than we thought, but having JJ in should stand us in good stead. “We just need a couple of the boys to get going, hopefully Sarj can continue the form he’s been in and I’m sure Dan (Greenwood) would love to go back to Cradley and take the title!” Admission on Monday is £12 for all adults, with children free of charge as usual. CITY GEARBOXES STORM (from): Dan Greenwood, Joe Jacobs, Martin Knuckey, Stefan Nielsen, Luke Priest, James Sarjeant, Ryan Terry-Daley CRADLEY (from): Max Clegg, Nathan Greaves, Tom Perry, Danny Phillips, Paul Starke, Matt Williamson, Steve Worrall.

COVENTRY will stage the first leg of the Elite League Grand Final at Brandon on Friday October 17 (7.30pm). The Buildbase Bees will face Poole or King's Lynn but plans for the first leg to take place this Monday have been thwarted by two postponements of the other semi-final at Wimborne Road. The Pirates and the Stars are now due to resolve their tie on Wednesday, with the first leg of the Final 48 hours later. The second leg will take place at either Wimborne Road or the Norfolk Arena on Monday October 20th

The Bees had priority over Kyle Howarth as our fixture was in the fixture list first - Workington had a facility to cover his absence. -

Coventry V Eastbourne 15th Aug
NeilWatson replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
COVENTRY Speedway can provide the following information to supporters who hold re-admission tickets from Friday’s postponed fixture against Eastbourne. The club would like to first of all apologise to supporters of both teams for being unable to stage the meeting due to the localised, heavy rain which hit the stadium around an hour before start-time. The promotion, referee and both sets of riders were keen for the match to take place if at all possible, and had intended to delay the start, but it then became clear that the circuit had taken on too much water and it was in nobody’s interest to stage a farcical event. Supporters with re-admission tickets can now take one of two options: 1. Supporters can write into the stadium, enclosing their ticket, for a full refund of their admission fee. In addition to this, as a concession, Coventry Speedway will provide a £10 admission voucher for use at a future home meeting. 2. The re-admission ticket can be used as normal at a future home meeting, starting on Monday night against Swindon. Once again, as well as admission to the meeting, a £10 admission voucher for use at a further home meeting will be provided. We hope these arrangements at least provide some consolation to supporters following a hugely frustrating evening, in which conditions were dry literally two miles away from the stadium. -
