  1. I'm happy to comment on factual information relating to my own Club, and put right incorrect statements made here about the Bees. That's as far as it goes.
  2. Garrity 5.08, Bates 3.26, Sarjeant 3.00 While Aaron's average might fit, we already have our two double-up riders........
  3. Not sure how you come to that conclusion. I know exactly our demographic for EL attendances, as that information was collected via the turnstiles. It was not for the Storm.
  4. 7.37 left. We now have our three heat-leaders and both double-uppers so the final signing will be a full-time EL second string.
  5. It's implicit in a single-tier admission policy that we don't know the status of individual fans - other than them being over 16........
  6. It's a single-tier admission policy......... Nineteen or ninety, they're a fan!
  7. Persecution? Don't be ridiculous. We have had a single-tier admission policy for the Coventry Storm since its inception without any criticism at all, our admissions policy for 2016 simply extends this to the senior team.
  8. It can't be a double-up rider or an EDR, nor a rider already declared to another Club. Other than that, it could be pretty much anyone.
  9. We could be in a position to increase our declared 2016 team by 20% in the next day or so.......
  10. Never been in the place - internet research!
  11. Wolverhampton keeps cropping up, so let's do a comparison. Adults are £1 more expensive at Wolves Concessions will be £4 cheaper at Wolves 13-18 years pay £7 at Wolves, so either £2 or £7 more expensive at Wolves 6-12 years are £1 more expensive at Wolves It seems to me that it is pretty much impossible not to watch speedway more cheaply at Coventry in 2016 than in 2015 unless you are a solo Senior, and we simply could not offer the extensive benefits to the majority of our fans without impacting on this group to the tune of £3 per meeting. (Apologies to Wolves for using you as an example) To put this into perspective, I see that a large Cappuccino at Starbucks costs £2.95....
  12. Full-time education confirmed by the institution, night-school or flower-arranging classes don't count!
  13. Who mentioned the IMF? My reference is to the IFS, a completely different body.
  14. A great deal of thought went into this revision, the following information from the highly respected IFS may be of interest: The current generation of pensioners is better off than ever before, and for the first time have incomes higher on average than the rest of the population, the director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) Paul Johnson will say in giving the inaugural Pensions Management Institute annual lecture later today (18.30 Tuesday 20 Oct 2015). Johnson will set out how modelling by IFS researchers suggests that pensioners’ incomes will continue to rise for at least the next decade. However, it is unlikely that later generations will do as well. Future state pensions will be less generous on average, there has been an extraordinary fall in rates of home ownership, and, in the private sector, a collapse in membership of defined benefit occupational pension schemes. Younger generations are also likely bearing some of the cost of these generous occupational pension schemes from which they themselves will never benefit. Johnson will also use his lecture to outline some policy priorities for making state and private pensions more stable and sustainable, for example ending the so called triple lock on the state pension and bringing stability to the taxation of private pensions. Drawing on work by IFS researchers, Johnson will show how: Pensioners now have higher incomes on average than the rest of the population, once housing costs and family composition are taken into account. Pensioners’ incomes have continued to rise post-recession as the incomes of working-age households have fallen.. (Cont). No doubt there will be individuals who don't fit this general view, but our view is that a concessionary rate for seniors is no longer appropriate. We have however made a much bigger investment in making speedway more affordable for families and juniors, and the majority of the feedback I have had so far supports this action.
  15. COVENTRY Speedway can now announce details of admission prices and season tickets for the 2016 campaign at Brandon. The club are pleased to confirm that they have extended FREE admission for all under-16s to Elite League as well as National League meetings, and general adult admission in the EL has been reduced by £1, back to £17 (see full pricing structure below). There is no concessionary rate next season, but a £5 student rate is available for over-16s in full-time education, on production of appropriate proof. We will be returning to predominantly Friday night racing in 2016, in addition to Bank Holiday Mondays and matches selected for live television coverage. Storm matches will be scheduled primarily on the Fridays of Grand Prix weekends, with an option for occasional Sundays depending on the requirements of the fixture list. Season Tickets for next year are now on sale - and for the first time, in addition to the Elite League, season tickets will also be available for Coventry Storm in the National League, as well as a special BIP (Bees Important Person) ticket for all team meetings to take place at Brandon. Elite League season tickets are based on a minimum of 15 meetings to include 14 league matches, the Elite Shield and play-offs subject to qualification. These are priced at £250, and in 2016 season ticket holders will receive a programme. National League season tickets are priced at £140, including programme, to include play-offs. Expectations are for a 12-team NL next year, subject to confirmation at the AGM in early December. The BIP ticket is available to cover all Elite League and National League level meetings for £360 including programmes, and also includes a photograph with your favourite rider and a centre-green visit for a meeting of your choice. Season ticket application forms are available to download from the club's official website,www.coventrybees.co . 16. I really hope he's not exiting speedway - we've just signed him for 2016!
  17. If I assume you mean KK, there's four heat-leaders in that list of 5. The five averages also total more than 34.5.
  18. Josh Bates is eligible for a 2 1/2% reduction on his starting average (2015SR 16.2.3.d). Our line-up so far already contains two double-uppers. As Jason was not part of the 2016 EDR system, it's no surprise that he won't line up at reserve for us in 2016 - it's certainly not a mistake on our part...... Danny is a heat-leader for 2016 team-building purposes.
  19. We now have our complement (two in the 1-5) of double-up riders for 2016. Averages subject to confirmation: Chris 7.34 Danny 6.48 Jason 5.08 Josh 3.26 James 3.00 My response was more aimed at the unpleasant tone of the original comment, but flavoured with the knowledge of what was to come...
  20. COVENTRY will face great rivals Poole in the opening meetings of the 2016 season. The two clubs have agreed dates for the Elite Shield, which will get the new campaign underway in the middle of March. The Pirates are the reigning Elite League champions and Shield holders, whilst the Buildbase Bees finished second in the regular league table this year. The first leg of the Elite Shield will take place at Wimborne Road on Wednesday March 16, with the return at Brandon 48 hours later on Friday March 18. And that will mean a rapid return to Coventry for Hans Andersen, who rode for the Bees in the past two seasons but has now made the switch to Dorset. Coventry co-promoter Neil Watson said: “We’re pleased to have agreed these dates quickly and it should make for an excellent start to the new season. “There’s always plenty of rivalry between the clubs, so that will be renewed at an early stage and I’m sure we’ll both be keen to kick the season off with some silverware.” Press and practice at Brandon will take place on the afternoon and early evening of Friday March 11, and skipper Chris Harris stages his Testimonial meeting on Sunday March 20. Admission prices and season ticket information for the 2016 campaign will be published shortly.
