  1. KK was one of the most straightforward riders I had the pleasure of dealing with. He’s a thoroughly nice guy too.
  2. Charles Wright ( and Ulrich Ostergaard) should be quite straightforward - riding in the KO Cup Final is in accordance with the Regulations and the ‘more important’ meeting.....
  3. Art 16.1 of the Speedway Regulations states: Fixtures shall take priority as follows: FIM Speedway Grand Prix Speedway Of Nations Speedway Grand Prix Qualifying Meetings FIM U21 World Speedway Championship Meetings FIM Speedway European Championship FIM Europe U21 Championship British Championships (Senior, Junior) BSPA Shared and Fee Events Official Competitions: 1. SGB Premiership; 2. SGB Championship; 3. National Development League. (my emphasis) NB. Non-Official Competitions have no priority over any of the above. A Championship fixture should take priority over an NDL fixture at any time, regardless of when it was arranged. However it appears that this season an unwritten addition to Art 16.1 applies - 'the more important fixture shall take priority'. That is subjective, but might be seen as commonsense. The precedent was set when Richard Lawson rode for Ipswich last Saturday so the Danny Phillips decision followed that precedent. What should happen is that a 'Supplementary Regulation' be issued by the SCB clarifying that Play-Off fixtures take priority over other fixtures - if that has been done it doesn't yet appear on the SCB website.

  5. No, his average is higher than MPT and only fits at home by virtue of the 5% uplift. http://www.speedwaygb.co.uk/files/downloads/c19_issue_33.pdf
  6. As MPT is not Redcar’s No 1, any guest bookings will be bound by the 8-day rule, in addition to rider averages. Richard Lawson can only guest for MPT at home, and Lawson would not be able to cover on two consecutive Fridays.
  7. 80000m2 would cover an area approx 280m x 280m - sounds large....
  8. I understand why. As I said, I'm not suggesting Newcastle are at fault, nor that the precedent hasn't been set with Richard Lawson - but if the rule has been changed a supplementary regulation should be issued.
  9. Another breach of the rules..... I'm not suggesting Newcastle are at fault, nor that the precedent hasn't been set with Richard Lawson - but if the rule has been changed a supplementary regulation should be issued.
  10. Brafield (not Bradfield) is some 40 miles from Coventry
  11. Don’t forget Art 18.1.9 (new this season) - A rider may only guest for one team in any leg (home and away). This should rule out Jake Allen for example appearing for Redcar in one leg and Leicester in the other leg.
  12. Yes, the gate money has to cover one home and one away meeting. Each Club pays its own riders for home and away rather than both teams for a home meeting.
  13. Match points are what define the league table (3 for a win etc), race points define the margin of victory (50-40, 60-30 etc).
  14. Lincolnshire Libraries have a copy in their catalogue - it’s not currently reserved....
  15. If the teams hadn't met earlier in the tournament that would be the fairest way.
  16. I understood what you meant, I was simply pointing out that there is nothing in the rule that gives Eastbourne the flexibility to ‘allow’ Richard Lawson to ride elsewhere.
  17. Taking the rule as written, it would not be in Eastbourne's gift to be 'honourable' and 'let him [Lawson] ride for Ipswich'. Art 16.1.1 Priority will be given to riders participating in the SGB Premiership League on Mondays and Thursdays. Priority will be given to riders participating in the SGB Championship League on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
  18. The bold typeface simply denotes a change/addition to the previous year’s Regulations.
  19. Look at the line above that. At face value there’s two consecutive rules 16.1 and 16.1.1 which contradict each other!
  20. You could add Art 16.1 to the mix! Fixtures shall take priority as follows: FIM Speedway Grand Prix Speedway Of Nations Speedway Grand Prix Qualifying Meetings FIM U21 World Speedway Championship Meetings FIM Speedway European Championship FIM Europe U21 Championship British Championships (Senior, Junior) BSPA Shared and Fee Events Official Competitions: 1. SGB Premiership; 2. SGB Championship; 3. National Development League. NB. Non-Official Competitions have no priority over any of the above.
  21. On the night, a tie was to be decided: 1 Who beat who 2 The team that had the highest heat score (7-2, 6-3, 5-4) 3 By ballot Sheffield had two last places to Scunthorpe’s one, in a tournament based on team-riding, I wonder if ‘least last places’ would be a fairer way of deciding a tie.
  22. The same situation will now arise on 13th October - Newcastle v Redcar in CLKOC final, Wolverhampton v Peterborough in PST. (Charles Wright and Ulrich Ostergaard).
  23. It is still a valid league match. The cut-off date is simply an arbitrary date to allow the play-off teams to be known. The season carries on until 31st October. I would expect the matter had been discussed and resolved prior to the date being announced.
  24. https://ipswichwitches.co/changes-to-play-off-dates/ The ‘Tru Plant’ Witches will now face the Poole Pirates in the Premiership Play-Off semi-final with amended dates to those published originally. Ipswich were due to travel to Dorset on Monday 23rd September but due to the poor weather forecast on the south coast, the away leg has been moved to Thursday 26th September with the return fixture at Foxhall now taking place on Saturday 28th September. The other semi-final will be contested between the Swindon Robins and the Wolverhampton Wolves. Wolverhampton’s home leg will be on Monday 30th September before they head to the Abbey Stadium on Thursday 3rd October. The final will take place over two legs the following week on Monday 7th October and Thursday 10th October. All play-off fixtures will also be live on BT Sport but make sure you don’t miss a big night for the town at Foxhall next Saturday.
