  1. I get what you’re saying. But don’t forget if they don’t ride they don’t earn money. 3 points in Poland is worth 15 in England. Jason got injured last year and has his Polish contract ripped up and had legal battles as they wanted the upfront money paid back. Poland is a different proposition altogether than here. Tv money and sponsors are massive , they have to look after that and keep fans attending, hence the reason they pay well and unfortunately what they say goes. To any rider wether we like it or not they will always try to accommodate Poland and if they are a GP rider protect their standing. Like you say it’s on its arse here. I agree with MikeBV the bspa missed a massive trick after covid. But make no mistake just like the riders the bspa only look out for their interests.
  2. I’m not a Belle Vue or Leicester fan. Digging out Kurtz when you clearly saw the crash that caused his injury is very petty. First and foremost every riders dream is to be world champion. That would be his number 1 priority given the situation he finds himself in. So if there is a chance he can ride Saturday then he will naturally do it. Every day with an injury of any kind is different, I know this from my profession. We all know the setbacks and risks on a rehab journey. You have to prioritise the risk aversion. And that includes every time there is a meeting no matter what the team or country. I cannot imagine Brady or any other rider being too happy about missing any meeting despite what people think. It’s why they’ve chosen to dedicate their lives from an early age to pursue their dreams. As fans of course it’s disappointing but riders missing has happened since league racing started. And yes there are dodgy decisions. But you cannot simply say he is being disloyal by prioritising his injury for the best possible outcome for him.
  3. I don’t understand all this petty squabbling on a thread where a person is in a serious condition. Surely all thoughts and posts should be channelling positive energy to Tai and his family. Leave the squabbling to once we know the full outcome. Then fill your boots as you always do. Opinion is healthy but picking on people is not.
  4. Well done Robert, the first of many I hope. As for Zmarslik , he is one of the all time greats. It’s not his fault about the opposition. He has been consistently the best rider in the MODERN era of Gp’s. And probably will break the all time record as it stands.
  5. It just seemed that emil clipped the back straight fence before entering the corner , and like others are saying the dirt is piled up high he hits that and he can’t straighten up in time. Just one of those unfortunate things. Hope he is ok and back racing soon.
  6. So you think a rider deliberately thinks I’ll knock him off or is he going for a racing line to win a race
  7. Speedway isn’t a safe sport. Would you say Zmarslik bombing into corners is safe ? or is it a sign that he has an edge and that’s why he’s nigh on unbeatable in this modern age.
  8. Doyle has a hunger that when fit he still feels like he’s 18. Say what you want about him but to suffer the injuries he’s had and still be on top of his game at this stage of his career is a massive achievement that people overlook.
  9. Absolutely no way he would miss any meeting no matter where it was he is too professional and dedicated to his career. This has never happened before so maybe just maybe it’s the truth about flight having technical issues.
  10. As a neutral this has been a good meeting, shame about King’s crash. Track looks superb where you can pass anywhere and no one is safe in front. Congratulations to all those involved to make Workington happen. Hope you have a great season
  11. The word drug indicates recreational substance. A lot of riders will take dietary supplements for extra edge in the gym as fitness is paramount now with elite sportsmen. Most are illegal but will be taken pre season when working out. Also enhancements for faster recovery from injury can go unnoticed as rider will stop before racing again. Alcohol wise back in the 90’s I was involved with a team on a northern tour. They got smashed literally in a match then back at the hotel after. Word got out on the next match of the exploits of the monumental night before and word reached that all the riders would be alcohol tested. meaning I had to frantically run to shops to get as many boiled sweets as I could as it affected alcohol test. They wasn’t drunk at time of riding obviously They all passed the alcohol test due to the boiled sweets. But did get soundly beaten though. !!! More recent was Swedish snuff contained stimulant that was deemed harmless but never really showed in tests , so was very popular. There will always be riders that will chance if needed not just speedway but any professional sport.
  12. Laguta drew me out of speedway retirement. First meeting in England for 5 years. And judging by the size of the crowd many others saw the attraction. I didn’t see anything wrong with his effort just slow equipment. Was impressed with the 16yr old. Although clearly lacking not surprisingly with gating at this level he was fast with a nice style and could develop into a promising rider. Can see why speedway in this country is on its knees. Same presentation, set up and music from 5 yrs ago. Racing is the key thing obviously, but entertaining a crowd surely has to be paramount in this day and age.
