Sheffield vs Ipswich 13th May
magnificentseven replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I thought the comparison between Tai's interview and Emil's interview was interesting - totally chalk and cheese. Tai always seems to have a chip on his shoulder and be looking for ways to be controversial - never seems to engage well with the interviewer. Compare that to Emil - both riders of similar standard but Emil much more interesting and easier to listen to. -
Never rated Milik - couldn't understand why they signed him other than the fact that there was no one else available.

Kings Lynn vs Sheffield - Monday 22nd April

Let's hope the pit gate survives the deluge and flood -
Birmingham are in a real mess - unless they make changes the losing run will continue and the fans will drift away. Really can't understand why they signed Milik - never rated him and he has never done anything in England. They still haven't worked out that Worrall is hopeless unless he can ride at number two - never understood why - it must be a confidence thing. Much has been made about Flint over the last couple of years but he is going nowhere and is not getting any better. If Klindt is available that might be an option but they need at least one more heat leader from somewhere even if they sign him - depends how deep Mr Tolley's pockets are but unless he does something its hard to see them lasting the season.

The Key to the Report is that it says Wolves are working with City Councillors - which implies its under the jurisdiction of Wolverhampton City Council. The only site that has been mentioned that possibly fits in with this is the i54 site and even that must be borderline. The other rumoured sites have all been in South Staffs which will be totally different from trying to deal with Wolverhampton City Council. As has been mentioned a drive of 15 minutes from the Stadium could be within quite a large radius on a good day or a small one on a bad day. Lets hope there is serious cause for optimism in this.

The joint venture covers Media Rights rather than the Stadium Project. The Dunstall Park Venture is to take the Perry Barr Greyhounds there, closing Perry Barr altogether to build on there. Entain would keep Monmore under their ownership. There would be 2 Greyhound Stadia in Wolverhampton owned by 2 different companies with no speedway at Monmore Green and Birmingham Speedway closing as well. Neither Company is too bothered about attendances at Greyhound meetings as they get the majority of their income from streaming the races.

King’s Lynn v Sheffield 01/06/23

Not Morris rides like he has for Wolves at Saddlebow in the last couple of seasons. -
Reckon Lynn are favourites for the Bonus Point
-
Wolves website says they have reverted to original declaration to ensure cover for Luke for foreseeable future so sounds like Nicholls won't be available for a while.

Doesn't Thorsell ride in the Polish Second Division? If so won't he be unavailable on Thursdays? If that is the case not much point signing him.
-
Can't see Wolves doing better than 4th or 5th and that will depend on how well Schlein comes back. Much also depends on Douglas, Becker and Flint and whether they can improve their averages, especially at home. Could be a long season if changes aren't made if we struggle and the promotion historically don't do that.
-
Yes definitely if he is available. Worrall can only ride at number 2 and he is too much of a luxury on his average for that. Schelin is more flexible for team positions.

CVS stated in his programme notes that he got things wrong in 2022. Making just one change would not seem to be doing much to put things right for 2023. Hope we see more than just one change as it is definitely needed to be competing for the title, which is what CVS also said he wanted.

Douglas can't ride Monmore and can't see him being back - think he will be seeking pastures new of his own accord. Thorssell has been rubbish on the continent so wouldn't entertain having him back as he seems to be past his best.
-
The Bottom End of the Team isn't the problem. Its the Top End that's the problem. Masters and Thorssell have had plenty of chances to kick on and develop as proper number ones - will they do it this time? It remains to be seen. I really like Rory but it is hard to see him improving much at this stage of his career. Morris is a big gamble - is he capable of getting back to anywhere near his best. Lots of doubts - hopefully the Promotion will not wait too long this time to make changes if required.

Time will tell

How long before some team finds a way around it

He might be unpopular but he brings the people in. Chances are he will average more than any of our heat leaders.
