  1. I totally agree about Nielsen, he was like a machine in his prime and you can bet that even if he didnt win every round he would have made every final and scored 12 or 13 in the heats. I think Gundersen would not have been able to match that sort of consistency and as good as Knudsen was i think he too would have come up short against Nielsen in a GP series. Ermolenko was absolutely flying during his title winning year though, i think he might still have done it over a GP series. Parsloes comments about Havelock are interesting, i often think of him as a freak winner and not a "real" world champion but as you correctly point out he won everything that year and he also rode very well in the league so that seems unfair. Another interesting thing about Havvy is that he was only 23 when he became world champ, it's amazing that he never won anything of note after that, he seemed to be past his best by the time he was 25 despite all his talent.
  2. Couldn't agree more. Some of the people slating her should go and try presenting tv coverage about something they previously knew nothing about, i could probably waffle on about speedway but ask me to talk about rugby or cricket and i wouldn't have a bloody clue! And she is HOT!
  3. Ashley Holloway seems like he wants a bit of Emil's spotlight to me, not just for Saturday's events but his comments about Pedersen the other week. He needs to remember it's all about the blokes on the bikes, not mechanics who want to get on the telly.
  4. It wasn't you ponceing about like Freddie Mercury was it Jeff?
  5. Rick Miller? I think he only rode for the Bees.
  6. And i bet your Dad is proud of you, picking on kids on an internet forum. Your attitude is poor mate, you should take a good look at yourself if you take enjoyment from upsetting others. What can you possibly get from posting something like that where you know the kid and his family will read it? Keep your ignorant views to yourself. I rode when i was Adam's age, i was never as good as these lads but me and my Dad enjoyed every second of it. He would regularly drive us to Long Eaton after work on a Wednesday night, sometimes just to get 4 laps, we didn't get home until the early hours and he was back at work at 6 am. The parents of these lads put so much into it, they deserve to celebrate their achievements and don't need miserable sods like you spoiling it. Keep going for it Adam, don't let anyone spoil your enjoyment.
  7. Back in around 1993 the great Hans Nielsen did a training day at Coventry, i was lucky enough to go along as a 13 or 14 year old and had one of my first goes on a 500 at my beloved Brandon. It was without doubt the best day of my speedway life and i even got to do a few laps on Hans' bike and scare myself to death! Thanks Dad for taking me!! Coventry has never been the most accessible track for young riders so it was a priviledge to ride there as a lifelong fan, i'm nearly 30 now so unlikely to ride there again! I'm wondering if any other forum members were there that day, and if anyone went on to ride professionally? I remember Lee Woodgate was next to me in the pits and i have a few pics of us, i think Scott Kirton was there too who rode for the juniors but did anyone go on to become a pro? If anyone has pics of the day it would be cool to see them, i have a few in the loft!
