  1. i agree with the above post by halifaxtiger speedway promotors take the fans for granted and dont really promote the sport as such they just run it speedway is dying on its feet in britan ive been watching the sweedish league on eurosport on tuesday nights why cant british elite league be as exciting as that proberbly main reason is the points limit is too low and they have now brought in 2 national league riders at reserve to keep costs down now briniging in the kids will be a good thing for some of them as it will give them a great chance to improve but it weakens the overall product
  2. not to mention the torental rain that was forcast and arived in the afternoon the road around dunmail park had its usuall reduced width du to the flooding that we get during heavy downpoors last sundays meeting went down well didnt it not the best night for speedway in my opinion
  3. wont get many workington fans arguing with you on this theres just something in the ridding style of some off the riders that says they are not fully comited
  4. come on taylorj it was anounced a couple of days ago that nielson couldnt ride for workington as he had signed for newcastle and would be riding for them your slipping lass
  5. with regards to simon nielson i think sundays performance was the best hes ever rode as a guest for us hes scored some good points against us mind like a few other riders scott brady comes to mind could score double figures riding against us but book him as guest and he was awfull
  6. funny old world speedway when a club folds others rally round to give them grace and allow them in for free if they have a season ticket for a defunct club but the rest of the time they just want to charge us as much as they can for as little as possible
  7. we were told a few weeks back that drinks and light snacks would soon be on sale in the back straight bar wonder what happened as there not on sale yet as far as i know if the burger van kept there prices affordable they woul maybe have sold enough to make it worth while but a couple i stand with stopped using the burger van on the 1st bend early on in the season when the prices kept going up and down from week to week
  8. there are some good riders round at the moment but overall i dont think that the quality in depth is in speedway as it was a few years back its allways hard to judge different eras as the equipment is different and tracks are prepaired different edinbrugh are on a role and pulling off results that really most dont expect some of its luck some of them are just the right place at the right time when other teams are having a off night at home due to injuries or track conditions
  9. the thing is the fans pay there entry fee and in return they expect to be entertained if the promotion are putting on a below standard product then they ask for all negativity that comes with it weak teams poor track no back up from food/drink stalls its all down to the promotion the fans cant turn it round if the promotion of any team dosnt want to do it any more then let someone else take over dont run it into the ground before letting someone else try and bring it back to life
  10. you would be happy with a win at home by that margin but to do it on a away track is just briliant well done to all the riders in the comets team all played there part only workington riders not to win a heat were mason and guest kasper but they both got 3 paid wins each
  11. good even meeting tonight no fallers or retirments and only 1 restart makes a nice change to go through a meeting with no messing around
  12. all the people running but the guy eating a burger hardly flinched the gready sod mind you the price of food at a speedway meeting id make sure i eat it aswell
  13. never been to perry bar but i have been to tracks that i proberbly wont go back to for the very reasons vog listed i dont want any speedway track lost to the sport but we pay to be entertained if the track dosnt produce entertainment then people wont get that bug that makes us return week in week out its not about a winning team for me its about excitment if thats not there then you cant expect people to give up there spare cash unless your meeting gets called off after heat 9 then you only get a reduction for the next meeting bassed on 1 heat reduction as the call off point is now heat 10 i thought we paid for 15 heats not 10 the promotion save 5 heats points money if its called of after 10 but we get nothing back ?
  14. when he rode for workington he was almost unbeatable round derwent park and it was a great racers track back then high on the banking round the 3rd/4th bends was breath taking now more often than not anyone going up theres looses ground
  15. only only allowed when its 1 off the bspa comitee members that wants the change
  16. depends how far away you think is acceptable there was plenty of others closer who were not medical staff thats the part in which made me think they were far enough away to not be a distraction and what about the people standing infront of the pit gate blocking the ambulance coming out even after the ambulance sounded its horn they were slow at mooving and they wernt ipswich riders
  17. wasnt really sure what the grandstand crowd was getting upset about in all fairness to ipswich they were well away from where rene was being looked over so not a issue in my opinion i have more of a issue when theres more track staff leaning over than medical staff were all concerned when a rider from any team goes down but leave it to the medical staff and give them room to work
  18. agree with you here we were all worried and really coudlnt see a home win but the lads pulled in back in good style we were lucky again and we owe a lot to our guest and new reserve signing
  19. we knew while the meeting was still running word gets round pritty quick on some matters hope all are well and all that but you were close to being this weeks topic just like workington were last week
  20. personaly i think howarth let us down a rider who rolls round in pain like he did saturday was never gonna be fit enough to ride 3 days later
  21. storry ive heard 1 top member of workington staff wanted to ask the paying public what they wanted to do as in wait or go so im not sure who actualy made the call regardless of if you think it was right or wrong call its done and dusted now if the bspa think theres something wrong with the call then im sure they will step in i wish it had continued but im not crying over it draw a line under it and move on
  22. no booing could be heard down next to the bar on the back straight booing and cheering is all part of speedway sometimes its not so good when a rider is lying injured but most speedway fans dont actualy watch the full race they only watch the lead rider or the riders from there team
  23. nothing rasist in my post just facts i couldnt hear any booing but there were fans celibrating there sides heat win where is the rasist connection in that i have scotish relatives so far from being rasist towards them
