  1. all fairness to barrett he had a very good meeting against workington last season where he scored and rode very well it was proberbly the strength of that 1 meeting alone that got him signed but apart from first couple of meetings this season hes been very poor
  2. but edingbrugh like to darg meetings out in the hope the get called of and there promotor with influance will cry we win by default because they couldnt complete fixture they were awkward last year with atleast 1 team in rearanging rain off fixture were offered quite a few dates but wouldnt/couldnt ride on them dates which were all before cut off date
  3. and there lies a lesson for all fans that call for more dirt when they dont understand fully how track prep goes i dont claim to be a expert far from it but ive wtnessed it before people calling for more dirt when the riders had too much to start with
  4. not just scunny im affraid pal workington once had regular high crowds around 1500 to 2000 then denham took over banned around 200 straight away they took there friends and family with them and vowed never to return under his ownership now we have new owners and about 5 returned so all the ones who said they stayed away because of kieth denham were just using him as a way out workington is looking like its crowds are at danger point and its not nice thinking it could be the last season but otheras are in the same boat
  5. only slightly older than me and the amount of my old school friends who are no longer with us is scary speedway cant afford to loose dedicated fans condolences to her friends and family
  6. is that scunny workington or both speedway is dying in this country sadly
  7. most teams will beat workington at there home track by that margin unfortunatly untill we get a fully comitted team almost every team can list ex assetts thats gone on to better things no point having a rider signed as a assett if they dont want to ride for the parent club
  8. guested last night at workington but maybe redcar's redeclared team kicks in today sad news for benko but i will hold my hand up and say i thought plymouth were up to there old tricks again before i read the thread a few years ago (2 or 3) they turned up at workington with only 5 riders and only 1 reserve they were just taking the you know what running with weak patched up team but this was under a different promotion im sure we all know there was problems in the past meetings should not go ahead if a team dosnt start with 2 reserves in my opinion if another rider pulls out during the meeting its really bad for the paying fans all heats should start with 4 riders unless 1 is exclueded
  9. agree with all you say apart from he it the exit of the 4th bend after the air fence strangly though theres been many crashed there most famous was chris mills when we had the air ambulance that made sky tv most go straight through but nathans foot looked to go underneath the gate it happened on the 3rd lap and the previous 2 laps he seamed to hit a patch that lifted him slightly on the 3rd he was slightly wider
  10. nathan greaves broke both his tibula and febula in his first ride crash tonight
  11. british only reserves has been tried before and guess what it didnt work jenga has actually been saying this for about 2 years now go back to 13 heats and proper 2nd half's
  12. its the system we use and we dont have any other so just get on with it just like us doing overtime at work a shortage of riders up to standard and eligable to race if you want to try and say theres plenty of poor riders willing to take prem league places and devalue the sport even more
  13. if all you worry about is the win your not a fan off speedway id be happy watching my side get beat if it was a good entertaining meeting i always want my side to win but i go to be entertained
  14. yes thinking last night berwick came to mind
  15. pitty they wernt as keen along with a few other clubs a few years back when this was tested im sure 3 clubs got involved pritty sure workington and maybe the other 2 were somerset and newcastle but cant remember to make season tickets worth buying maybe all clubs should allow away fans a discount if there team is in town and they produce there season ticket
  16. i can remember when going to redcar was something to look forward to been to some good entertaining meetings at redcar in the past
  17. with so many riders on the injured list r/r might be best option also promotion may be looking longer term and looking for 2 riders and redeclare the team in the future which ever route they go down its best to considor options and not rush in to making a panic buy change
  18. if sedge rides like he did at workington last night dont think any one will get close to him top scoreer and left out of heat 15
  19. workington fans were happy with result tonight we know we have weakness in our team the edinbrugh promotion are over hyping there team and that could be bad as they will take defeat bad justin sedgeman should have been in heat 15 last night in place of cookie who would have finished last if kyle howarth hadnt tried ridding every line but the right 1 for last 2 laps confirmed collapsed lung futher update later today
  20. also the risk of not getting paid while riding abroad think it was simon stead who lost money as he never got paid some years ago yes they pay good points money in some foriegn leagues but its no good if they dont actually pay whats is owed to riders
  21. i can remeber the opposite at workington a good few years back when alan mogridge had a few words with kenny feeron the old start marshall on his next vist he brought kenny a dummy much to the crowds entertainment just be carefull cookie dosnt return in force im led to believe he changed his setup saturday and scored a max at berwick
  22. i wasnt there and ill hold my hands up and say ive never been to glasgow but its a pitty more dont look at the actual meetings instead of the final scores riders should be judged on there on track efforts not what they score in the meeting
  23. yeah that was in the edinbrugh press release i believe just bumping up the"(beaten before thye turn up) comets so the not as good as they think monarchs look better on the night no one at workington believes we have 5 heat leaders most people from around actualy say workington are a weak team so why does the team that thinks there the greatest have to over hype the visiting team
  24. final score 56 -37 thats pritty good score for workington in recent years
