  1. allthough i do agree with everything topsoil says the riders are risking a lot for the sport and they deserve more than what they get and unless they intruduce a controlled bike/engine whatever you will always get them spending money to gain a advantage if its in there interests to do so you will get the od rider who dosnt need to spend as much because they can set the bike up better and ride better than some spending a lot mor to keep up with them
  2. you never really know which riders wanted to stay and didnt and which were wanted to stay and didnt speedway is a ruthless sport very few are faithfull and loyal to clubs/riders
  3. if im not wrong once upon a time it was instead of the on track making way to tapes its been last few years
  4. sometimes they are genuinely working on bikes and are pushed but its the ones who sit at pits gate until 15 seconds and then potter round and still want to prep gate that anooy me paul thorpe was a master at it its all mind games
  5. im all for the allow prep if at gate early enough the ones who arive as the 2 minutes are about to end deserve to have to line up with no prep of the start grid ive always said the 2 mins time allowence should mean rider in a sort of holding area at tapes(say within 5 metre behind tapes) ready to be pulled up by start marshal
  6. didnt workington town recently renew or extend there lease ? i could see a possibility of it happening sometime but it would be at 1 off the 2 grounds as theres no way there is enough money to build a new purpose built stadium its just some council talk you know the type 1 that opens there mouth while what brain they have is in sleep mode all 3 rugby football and speedway at the moment are not cost efective clubs/teams none of them can pay the bills on gate money alone
  7. both pritty valed reasons in my book id never expect bomber to pull out of anything without a good reason
  8. you see thats the thing most people on this forum all they shout about is genuine no1 how many teams have won the league with a balanced team rather than big "genuine no1" id far rather have a balanced team where you dont know whos going to win the haet or come last thats what sport is all about theres nothing entertaining about watching a race where you know 1 rider is gonna clear of out front and another is gonna trail around half a lap behind
  9. theres a few old riders in there that on there day were match winners for teams in the past they might be past there best and on there way out but they might just get a 2nd wind and have a good season 1 thing for sure theres a lot of experience in that team and a few riders i enjoyed watching when they were on form
  10. personally I think the best set up was back when it was 45 point team average
  11. for me the way 2 go is discounted tickets rather than freebies even if its a fiver if you get someone to pay a small fee it shows theres a slight interest there to start with freebies you never know what your getting in
  12. i actually agree to most the changes (i think) but the one where riders arnt allowed to get of there bikes to do the gardening thing now come on they tried this 2 or 3 years ago and soon reverted back so why is it any different now or will it stand till 1 of the promotors who must be have there own way start getting too many riders pulled up for it
  13. id say that it looks like theres 4 or 5 clubs at the moment who look strong but we all know in speedway its more often the ones who dont look clear favourites at the start of season that are up there at the end
  14. jenga dont have a sofa he uses old woden crates but he does have a good biscuit barrell
  15. might be plenty oif brits signed to polish clubs but how many will actually get a ride
  16. why should they give up on life outside speedway speedway is a bit of a mugs game too be honest the risks involved are not rewarded by wealth you cant expect riders to wrap themselves up in cotton wool outside of speedway we all deserve a decent out of work life regardless of what job/sport we do
  17. my poor mate jenga is a poor example of anything apart from a good mate and a wind up merchant sorry Mr t
  18. its more of a way of making sure there is enough credit there to pay the bills if it all goes ** up thats what i was told years ago from a co promotor
  19. i always found it strange and funny that if a foreign rider wanted to ride speedway in uk he had to pass a english test but footballers takeaway workers and such like can find work much easier than home grown uk residents who do speak the native tounge
  20. but the posts were talking about end of season not a rider deliberatly dropping average at start of season in order to strengthen team for reat of yeat
  21. its not about how high any riders average is at end of season its about how much the riders improve there average over the season that makes a succsesful season
  22. so will this mean scotty will finaly ride workington he was booked years ago to do a few match races with a couple of comets riders he never rode the offical reason given was it was a very cold night and they just wanted to get the meeting over and scott promised to return to earn his fee hasnt happened so far lets see if he returns with a team or they use r/r if he does actually sign for a championship team
  23. as it wasnt a offical comets event you wont get the sheep saying anything on here incase the puppet master gets upset
  24. a happy motivated matt williamsan will be a decent reserve and if he gets to grips with the track he will gain confidence and improve his average
