Hey, Absolutely nothing is sceduled on the provisional calender for all danish leagues between july 8th and 28th. Regarding sunday after the GP i replied as below on another thread. ( we are very very close to having a super league, will be decided thursday ). Regards Peter S. The sunday meeting in Slangerup is not confirmed as it is still doughtfull if the league will happen. On the other hand we might try to run another meeting format at that sunday, but we all wait for the ongoing league discussions. If there is a meting it is at 14:00. Public transport from copenhagen will be 1,5 hours. Car / taxi ( £ 60 !?! ) will be 30 minutes. We normally have quite a few foreigners wisiting on that sunday. In 2006 we had Chris Harris on show which the UK fans seemed to enjoy. To put on a meeting with more GP stars is almost impossible as they are all going to Poland on the sunday. One UK GP rider were not going to poland in 2006 but he wanted something equilant to half of medium sized/priced car for doing 5 heats . Eventually we were more than happy with the Bomber. Very nice guy, super effort and performance. See you Peter

The league is off. The official press release from DMU was issued friday. For us, in the clubs who has run Supeliga meetings for many years its a very frustrating situation. Im in charge of club sponsorships in Slangerup. The last coupple of years we have made around GBP 30.000,- pr. year which has gone directly to rider payments. I have no clue how to confront our sponsors with regards to 2007, the risk is that we have to start over from nothing when/if we run top speedway again. In rough numbers I calculate the costs for Danish speedway as follows : Loss of entrance revenue, net, 12 matches as 2006 40.000 Loss of 60% of club sponsor revenue, 4 clubs 70.000 Loss of "league name" sponsors 15.000 Loss of riders sponsors, est. 50.000 Total £ 175.000 Furthermore this will ofcourse also affect the riders. Our established international riders will survive without problems, except for the fact that their Danish sponsors wont see them as much. But the young guns will lose a significant pecentage of their income and will find it even harder to collect sponsorships. This could mean that riders like Nicolai Klindt, Leon Madsen etc. would be more tempted to move to UK. See you Peter

hey, GC, if there are any duplications it can only be if any moved from 50 to 80 during the 2006 season, thats very rare. Once you have taken the tracktest on 80 you cant ride 50. Not that i know the full story, but in Denmark the youth speedway didn't come from the "top". It was groups of parents, many of them former riders, who started it on a field, then build a track and so on..... If you ask the older speedway people, and even DMU representatives etc., many of them still think 50cc is a waste of everybodies time. 80cc is a bit more accepted but is still often only seen as a preparation for 500cc. We ,parents and riders, see it as a "sport in the sport" because we all know that not all riders will carry on to 500cc. The "loss" of riders when transforming from 80 to 500 is a big discussion over here. one argument is the costs, but rinding 80 on a higher level is also VERY expensive, so I dont belive that one. 500 is another game altogether and many dont realise that also other sports "lose" many youngsters when they are 15 - 17 just because they get other interests etc.. It is, by the way, possible to ride 80cc untill and including the year you turn 18, but you can start 500 from the age of 15 ( again if you started 500 you cant go back to 80 ). We actually had 11 - 12 year olds competing against ( and beating ) boys who afterwards took their own car and drove off. As a final note the current SWC champions all comes from 50/80 speedway. See you Peter ps: One thing we really envy is your winter practice, we don't have that here.

No the 250cc will not happen Doug. The last i´ve heard the project is put on hold. I have seen the 250cc demonstrated and even very young 80cc riders can ride it, but i think everybody agrees that four of those things in the first corner on a 80cc track just wont work. See you Peter -

Just thougt i would explain some of the very low averages in the list : Div. 1 = CMA Div. 2 = CMA / 2 Div. 3 = CMA / 3 Div. 4 = CMA / 4 i.e. my own Simon ( no.75) has ridden both 3. and 4. divison, his CMA before the above calculation is 8,3. And forgot to mention that there is just as many moving from 50 to 80 as from 80 to 500. Look out for those Danes !!. Peter -

Hey, Can't find much on the Danish sites. He´s turned 15 and the rumours say that he will take one more year at 80cc. Merits : 2001 50cc Danish champion 2005 Topped Danish 80cc average list. 2005 + 2006 80cc European Champion 2005 + 2006 very present in all Danish, European and YGT finals. See you Peter Link to Danish 2006 80cc average list : http://www.dmusport.dk/images/stories/dmu_...gliste_2006.pdf Note : Something like 30 of the top 50 riders are moving to 500cc in 2007 !!!! -

Danish 1 Division 500cc + 80cc
Peter S. replied to iris123's topic in International World of Speedway
I saw Manuel in Glumsø on saturday. I left before (*) the 1.div. meeting started so i don´t even know who he was riding for. Amongst others Mads Korneliussen was also there. See you Peter *= Simon had a disaster of a 80cc meeting so we rushed back to Slangerup to get some practice in. Gearing changed from 13-53 to 13-51 and the rear wheel an inch+ forward did the trick. His mechanic will learn some day
