  1. Watching most of my racing at mildenhall & peterbro, sadly mildenhall has a endless list of awful crashes. Peterbro 1998 i think, ross brady & lee driver, awful awful crash, lee driver never rode again, they clashed & driver could not get off hes bike & smashed the 4th bend gate open, never seen a rider pick up so much speed mid bend, it was awful. I took a trip to hackney when it re-opened in 95 or 96, went to see cradley pair of hamill & hancock, probably the most shocking crash id seen, the second half & young mark thompson went through the pit bend fence, his crash helmet came off & ended up flying across the dog track finishing up in the pits, the bike smashed through the pit gates & his body ended up demolishing the dog track barrier, somehow he got up & walked straight off back to the pits, it really was a heart stopping few seconds until he got up, got to know thommo well at mildenhall, he was a classy little rider who really should of gone alot further in the sport but suffered some nasty injuries & lacked abit of confidence, but on hes day no-one was better at riding the outside.
  2. Team has to be Woffiden King Cook Lambert. Harris/nicholls are past their best although you know harris will give everything! Worralls/ellis/bates etc are nowhere near WC standard yet
  3. Really!!! People on here need to wake up! Speedway needs more woffidens to drag a dying sport forward! He is a roll model to many & i have friends that only watch the gps just for tai because he is modern/current, british & more importantly very good at hes job! The fuss people make about a swear word, i think thats probably very mild to what your sons/daughters hear/see at school & on the internet, if you dont think that then you need to pull your head out the sand!! If your offended then be offended, no-one died, i didnt see people in the crowd passing out or dying due to woffidens 4 letter outburst! The lad does alot of HARD WORK for charity & speedway is better for having him involved. If you dont agree with the above then your either just very bitter towards tai or completely out of touch with the world today. Speedway needs a new edge to pull it forward & to complete with other sports such as the darts which has had a complete new face lift in recent years & just look at the crowds the darts get now, going to the darts is the in-thing to do! Forget the 60/70s those days have gone & we have to move with the times and stop living in the past! Love him or hate him woffiden is box office & speedway needs him!
  4. Ha fair enough mate, i be watch what i say in future although i believe im right in what, maybe hes just a silly chap
  5. What a bellend you really are!! harris has qualified on merit, it has not been handed to him so whatever anybody says he is in the top 15 in the world at hes job, im sure you wouldnt mind being in the top 15 in the world at your job!
  6. If you dont want to spend £10 then dont but what a silly pointless message from you, why would someone pay you £10 unless that was your effort at sarcasm! Im not a lover of horton but what else is he meant to do regarding the weather? Or we could all just blame the uk weather on horton on coventry. Way to many moaners on this site that seem to wanna put the boot in to everyone & anyone at every given chance!
  7. Right decisions were made for the good of the team, ok stoke are poor but coventry look a solid side now. Brendon is a nice lad but will never make a PL rider let alone EL, hes a 5/6 pointer in the NL, he might have the odd good season and be around 7 but thats it
  8. Feel sorry for the lad but its beyond me how someone can claim they have a 10pt average when he has only completed 2 league meetings! Hes a 6pt rider at best. Ive seen 5 storm meetings this season, he has failed to score double figures in 9 meetings unless you include bonus points, he has scored 9+1 twice at home but in all fairness it was against the 2 weakest teams in the league apart from that he picks up a few points here and there against reserves. Hes true average is 5.89 from 9 meetings so to be fair hes done hes job but hes nowhere near the 10pt rider that is being suggested
  9. The fact mildenhall raced both legs away from home means the better team won over 2 legs. Trying to blame 1 decision over 30 races seems to be clutching at straws abit! The fact dudley had 1 home leg and mildenhall didnt means you should of took advantage of that and been far enough ahead not to rely on 1 race!
  10. Arhhh groundhoundp, that seems very petty not offering your congratulations, wrong or right decision, mildenhall are the champions over the course of a whole season and not because of 1 race/decision! Make sure you wash that dummy after its been on the ground! Also best wishes to royno, the lad is a class rider who deserves some good fortune
  11. Bigfatdave your comment is way off the mark, it is not up to us supporters to throw money at it, that is the authorities & promoters job to run their business and make it a success of it, they should set up youth system to benifit their own business and grow their asset base instead of filling their teams with every nation bar brits and paying well over the odds to do so!!! As supporters we all pay enough, we pay decent money to get it, most chip in buying raffle tickets, club or rider hats coats etc, we chip in to the SRBF, we do more than enough! The authorities & promoters show us no future system so why should we do their job for them just to cover over the cracks, look the the GPs they have came in, got big sponsors on board, promoted it correctly and made it a very good product. Sadly to many clubs are run by businessmen who see it as their little hobbie for 1 day a week although sum promoters do run it as business full time and guess what they are the doing ok! You moan at us supporters to put our money where our mouth is but may i ask how much do the authorities and club promoters invest Into this scheme! For too long now speedway has been run people who are out of touch of what modern day speedway needs and acting like little kids not wanting to share their toys with only their own interests at heart not seeing the damage they are causing to british speedway overall and when and if british speedway completely falls apart they will blame it all on the supporters by saying not enough people came through the gates!
  12. Think we just have to face it we are miles and miles behind australia poland denmark & sweden. Firstly middlo should go, things have moved on from the 90s, hes decision to leave nicholls in and take king out was the final straw, nicholls is past world championship standard with no ambition left where king still has desire and wants to go further and by taking him out of the last ride will only knock the lads confidence further after a very hard night for him and middlo had nothing to gain by that move, terrible team management, id say a good GB manager would be someone like phil morris, sean wilson or if we could pick anyone gary havelock would be the man for the job, he been there done it got the t-shirt, he has plenty of bulldog git and passion and knows current day racing. Tonight just showed how far off the pace we are, IF harris was in the australian danish or polish team he would just be a average middle man in the team yet he is our leader and the one we rely on and turn too!!! Many years of poor standard club promoters in the british leagues and no help from the british authorities are now showing the gulf in talent between us and other countries and sadly too many of the young british lads only concern is money money money, the bridgers, barkers steads etc spend to much time thinking about how much they are earning and flashing it around rather than concentrating on how to take their career forward then reaping the benifits further down the line!!!!
  13. I didnt realise we picked riders on passion and not talent!!!! Passion aint enough, eddie the eagle had passion!!!!
  14. What a stupid message, how on earth is danny king a BIG gamble?? He is top of birminghams averages, riding/scoring well in top league in sweden and gating very well and id say riding the best he ever has. Dont tell me you would go for bridger who has great talent on a bike but in all fairness is abit of a one track pony and talks the talk but never really backs it up away from eastbourne. Kennett who is struggling everywhere at the mo and has never really done much at lynn. Barker who again is struggling in the elite and dropping plenty of points in the pl. Then we have auty & roynon who are both having great seasons but lets be honest are still some way off world cup standard. King is the 3rd highest brit in the elite averages and king harris woffiden & nicholls are the only brits that ride regular abroad, for some reason he goes under the radar compared to the likes of bridger kennett etc, he is the most underrated brit we have and i wouldnt be surprised to see him top score for team GB tonight. Good luck tonight to britains top 4 men.
  15. I agree but the difference is 90% of riders at NL level are still being paided the same as what the 3rd tier riders was getting 10-12 years ago but their costs today are probably 2-3 times more than a decade ago. I used a sponsor a rider at mildenhall in the late 90s, a back tyre for home meetings, the tyre cost £22, the same tyre today is over £40, i was shocked. My point is the BRITISH 3rd tier riders need more support from everyone. I thought the comment that tim dropped buxton in the sh!t was harsh as I bet tim and many other riders would love to still be racing if circumstances allowed them too.
  16. I think when you have a team paying a rider a fiver a point, if the rider decides to call it a day then he aint letting anyone down, he gave it a go and could not make it work for whatever reason, time and money would be my guess. Im sure he would still be riding if he could afford to, NL riders do this sport just for the love and pour in alot of money, time and hard work just to race. Personally i think its the riders being dropped in the sh!t, they need more support and no dig at any club because every 3rd tier club do their best on a shoe string BUT £5 a point in this current day and age is a joke, i know for a fact that riders at reserve in the 3rd tier of britain were on £5 a point in 1998!!!!!! You do the math!
  17. Axeman that was a terrible childish post Having watched robert on you tube this lad is very very special indeed, i would go as far as saying he is better than darcy ward when he was 14!! BUT he is 14 and hes time will come and when it does he will be even more eager & focussed to take the world by storm. There are many special 14year old footballers out there but they cant just chuck em in the man utd team, they have to serve their apprenticeship and wait. I understand why he is riding in germany but at the moment he should be focussing on being on hes bike as much as possible, riding different track, building up equipment and working on sponsorship deals so he can hit the ground running in 2013 Rather than moaning about rules & regs etc, you should feel excited that he has a very bright career ahead of him that can start in england in only 10months (march 2013)!!!!!
  18. Paulco parts of your message were total rubbish, Allen rode hes arse off last night, he only had 4 rides and out scored nicholls who had more rides, olly will probably admit he is not a World class performer so he can hold hes head high in that company! You say richardson fialed to deliver to many times yet he is GB highest point scorer in the world cup so your statement makes no sense there! And finally everyone is building Woffiden up so high that its a very big chance the boy will fall flat on hes face thursday night, he is a great talent and it would not surprise me if he scored 8 or 9 points thursday but there is also a very big chance of him only scoring 1 or 2 so EVERYBODY STOP heaping extra pressure on the boy and let him naturally progress into a outstanding rider!
