I visited the museum the other week on a cheaper late entry ticket and really enjoyed it and had an interesting chat with George.
I recommend all fans to pay them a visit.
As much as I loved watching Canterbury I have to agree with Shazzybird that conference racing at Iwade has nowhere near the pull to get me there everytime during the summer. Even another venue in or near the city wouldnt be the same after all this time.
I made a few visits to my local track which is Rye House this season but I cant get excited watching another of the old enemy teams.
Permission to run was only available on a yearly basis and after many complaints, from people in house's built after the track opened, the council refused to renew the lease.
Various other reasons appear to have ended any other use of the stadium!!
I have NEVER laughed or cheered when a rider has crashed and have never believed others opinion of riders, Seen enough meetings over the years to make my OWN on what i saw.
My point was he was not the angel a few were trying to paint him as and I stick by that opinion.
Who was the rider he rode into on the first bend that night at Arena and came off worse?
Some of the posts made him out to be an angel and the number of incidents I saw him involved in showed he was far from that.
i must agree those days were far better and then Dad and me used to go to over 100 meetings a season, last year it was 4 only.
Steve always gave it his best and sometimes it wasn't him falling but more experienced riders putting him down after he leapt out of the gate ahead of them.
I hope so,as long as they still do disabled parking close to the entrance he should (that long walk over uneven ground is too much for him).
Would be nice if we could have gone in the old white camper van but them days are long gone!!
still waiting on a time.
