  1. I remember Gordon very well too. Back in 1965 when returning home from a meeting at Wimbledon when we saw Gordon's van stranded on the A45 in Coventry. We stopped to see if we could help and found Gordon under the bonnet trying to sort out the problem. We asked if he needed help and he said yes as he didn't have a clue what was wrong. We sorted out his problem and got him going again, both Gordon and Elaine were full of thanks as they left. After that he always came over and for a chat when he saw us at meetings and was always a very friendly guy, and easy to get along with. Still think about him even now.
  2. Makes you wonder how they manage to get everyone to the stadium by 7.30 on race nights doesn't it
  3. I heard he packed in speedway promoting in order to take up a course on interpersonal communication skills. Judging by the standard of his posting on this forum I would suggest he failed the exams miserably.
  4. Are begging bowls standard issue by the BSPA nowadays then? There does seem to be a lot of them around presently.
  5. A bit like most of the stuff you post then?
  6. I read that Loomer Rd has been attacked by vandals. Apparently they caused £10,000 worth of improvements.
  7. Hmmmm, I don't think we are talking about the same people here but never mind
  8. And what happened when there were a couple of clubs, other than Poole , with promoters who had cash and wanted to compete? They were very quickly "screwed over" by your mate down at Wimborne Rd who couldn't face any real competition.
  9. How about a view from the opposite side of the fence? Time for the BSPa to demonstrate they want fans to go through the turnstiles, by giving them an honestly run sport that provides value for money entertainment. Then it might not be necessary to get the begging bowl out in order to survive.
  10. Is that a train ticket wedged into the peak of his cap?
  11. He was only there because he wanted to be the starman on television
  12. Plus trying to dodge paying for a train journey from Rugby quite recently and being spotted by the ticket inspector, who happens to be a speedway supporter.(Allegedly)
  13. TWK & Gote. " Should have gone to Specsavers"
  14. She would be much better on Eurosport though
  15. I heard a rumour Eurosport were interested.
  16. It was in an early report on the sky homepage, reporting on her resignation from Sheffield Utd. Sky have subsequently changed the wording of the report but it seems clear that she is no longer part of the sky team.
  17. That is unlikely , as she is now an ex sky presenter too.
  18. I find that a rather odd reply. You stated in an earlier post that the trackmans name was in the programme, but now you are suggesting he isn't the man. I wonder why all the secrecy?
  19. I'm not sure the current promotion need any help in that department to be honest.
  20. The Guy's name is Steve Austin according to the bees website. He certainly doesn't appear to be any six million dollar man though.
  21. If you mean play the curfew card, then no he can't. If you mean short change the paying customer, then I wouldn't count on that.
  22. So it was nothing to do with short changing the paying customers then? I have obviously misjudged him.
  23. Sums up British Speedway in general I think, and the" powers that be" complain about all the internet speculation.
  24. Just think you could have added a few word puzzles on the reverse side, to keep you occupied during the long delays while all the various problems that are now a regular feature at brandon get sorted. Smack on
  25. So that you don't print your own programme and deny Mr H his extra income
