  1. You forgot to mention the sly, underhanded, dirty tricksgate that continued into the following season also.
  2. I don't think so myself. I've never seen Garrity" scratching his nuts" in front of a tv camera.
  3. All that can be summed up in one word, organisation!. Not something speedway is recognised as being good at unfortunately.
  4. When we get Andersen & Bomber scoring their average we could be quite useful.
  5. Of course you don't care what others think . You just carry on scrounging your lifts , and gaining entry to all meetings with your free pass, whilst taking the opportunity to have a pop at the paying public when they post stuff you don't like. Many fans have spent thousands of pounds supporting this sport over the years and I think that entitles them to a little respect. After all they are indirectly paying for you to watch your speedway.
  6. Long Eaton Speedway . Reminds me of the "good times" when entrance fees were sensible and fuel was cheap, I would attend Brandon on Saturday, Monmore Green most Mondays, and Station Rd midweek. All easy to reach from my home, and great entertainment, wish I could say the same about modern day speedway.
  7. I almost popped round to the turnstiles to give them an extra £2 for the entrance fee ,as I thought it was worth it when the speakers went off around the first bend.
  8. 60 years at Brandon suggests he was a survivor. There were plenty of politics going on even in those days, the 1964/5 NL & PL amalgamation was pretty heavy stuff.Although I will admit I don't think the CO was ever faced with the situation of having his club closed down by some worthless toerag . It would have been interesting to see how he'd have dealt with that situation.
  9. He did run a very good show , with integrity and care. You must remember also that by the time you started attending the CO was getting on in years, and health issues meant that he was no more than a figurehead towards the end of his reign. I believe that a middle aged fit & healthy C O, if he was around today, would shake up this current bunch and show them how to promote the sport. But then that's just my opinion.
  10. A proper speedway promoter ........sadly in very short supply these days.
  11. If , in the case of the Bees , we needed any further evidence.
  12. Yes, it's possible, the light could go out twice today at Brandon.
  13. Perhaps someone knows the real story. I am pretty certain that i saw something from MH in the press last year where he apologised for the curtailment of several meetings. Words to the effect " He misunderstood the rules". I have always been under the impression that there isn't a curfew, indeed I have attended many meetings at brandon on Fridays that have run way past 11.00 pm in the past.
  14. I'm looking forward to seeing our promoters plans for any" special offers" this season. After all they won't be able to play the "extra entrance fee " for a bees/storm double header card , only to find the second match curtailed by a non existent curfew will they?
  15. Could be a long wait then. He will probably be retired by that time
  16. So, who will you be putting your money on then? With your name I would expect you to clean up.
  17. "To all you fans who have been having a go at Darcy & Speedway Stars reporting " Up Yours!
  18. Big difference there, on one hand you have a guy who got into trouble with UK visas and was a genuine case.... On the other hand you have a guy who has just blown all his spare cash on long holidays and now wants hand outs to get himself back into the sport. Not difficult to work out really.
  19. Survival within British Speedway = Not creating waves?
