  1. Just as I was beginning to think anyone would be better than Fraud.
  2. We are not liked due to our success, says Poole boss Ford 3 Sport 22nd October We are not liked due to our success, says Poole boss Matt Ford By Ned Payne nedpayne_echo VIEW: Pirates chief Matt Ford PIRATES boss Matt Ford believes the club is "not liked" outside of Dorset due to its bulging silverware cabinet. 3 comments Earlier this month, Poole secured their eighth top-flight league title in 16 seasons thanks to victory over King's Lynn in the SGB Premiership play-off final. Team boss Neil Middleditch has made a habit of jokingly welcoming new riders to what he terms as "the most hated club in Britain". And Ford told the Daily Echo: “I know we are not liked. I know myself and Neil are not liked but I think that to a degree it’s people who haven’t met us who don’t like us. “It’s part of being at a club when it’s successful. It’s the way it is. All I can do is build the club as we have done for the past 20 years. “From bringing in Mark Loram and Gary Havelock, securing the continued service of Lars Gunnestad and then going to another level with Magnus Zetterstrom and Tony Rickardsson. “Then it just flowed. Leigh Adams and Antonio Lindback joined, Jason Crump came, Chris Holder came, Darcy Ward came and Maciej Janowski came. “That’s the great part of the club – that we’ve never stopped trying to improve it." Well he's half right there, they are disliked but not for their success . Just the underhanded, rule abusing approach used to gain it
  3. It won't long term , but I got the impression the speedway track would be altered now whilst the rest would only take place after the planning is sorted, whenever that might be.
  4. I might have this all wrong, but as I read TR's comments the track will be re-shaped within the confines of the existing dog track . The rest of the stadium would be staying exactly as is until such time that the planning is agreed so the dogs can continue without interruption i would imagine??
  5. I need something to make me stronger after reading all the crap posted by Shovlar & Starman tonight
  6. I think the south coast poster is serving a little ban at present so we might have to wait .
  7. I'm not completely sure TBH but a quick check on a routefinder states that the The Moto Park which was in Nanpean I think, is some 9 miles away from Par.???
  8. Every chance it's the same location I would imagine. The Cornish Stadium was in Par, and the Eden Project has a postal address of Bodelva which is also in Par.
  9. I don't think people are. They are just comparing The Aces to The Pirates.
  10. I think it's also fair to remind Shovlar & starman that The aces have been running continuously since 1928, even operating through WW2. A history that no other club operating currently can match I believe. For their part The pirates didn't get started until twenty years later (1948) and there have been gaps in their history where the club has closed down for periods. When considering greatness history is most important, it's unfair to just select a short period (as you call it the modern era ) & expect everyone to forget the rest , to justify a claim.
  11. A little while back Skidder asked " what it all had to do with Poole 2019?" I suppose we could say it's closer to the topic than the comedy being posted by Shovlar & his shadow.
  12. If you had enough intelligence to enable you to understand my post you wouldn't need to ask this question.
  13. Determining the " biggest club" is surely more about history +achievements . That will put Poole way down the list particularly when compared to a club like the Aces. Form is temporary class is permanent as someone once said.
  14. If only speedway had a few more" Barry Bishops", a promoter who understands the requirements of operating a business in the 21st century and the importance of keeping the fans onside.
  15. I don't disagree with the person you quoted but i think we have seen from past experience that anyone who tries to implement change ( particularly a new member of the organisation) is on a hiding to nothing and will forced out before he knows what's happened. The "mafia " as I describe them don't take kindly to anyone prepared speak publicly or try to enforce any changes to their system. It would be wonderful to see someone grab hold of this sport and put it on a proper footing, but it's going to be extremely difficult IMO.
  16. Not my intention at all. My view is that that it is controlled by a select few who are entrenched in their out of date thinking and ideas, they refuse to accept the type of changes that are required to put the sport on a better footing. A fair and transparent set of rules which apply to all would be an excellent starting point, but I'm not about to hold my breath.
  17. Fair play to the promoter concerned, he is of course spot on. Unfortunately we've"been there " before and those that spoke up are now ex promoters. The unwritten rule at BSPA towers appears to be step out of line at your peril.
  18. Given his declared " leanings" there's a decent chance he will be.
  19. And the even less bright fail to see the guys failings.
  20. May have "drained " their enthusiasm somewhat, as opposed to the track.
  21. A route taken by many a disgruntled speedway fan i fear. Miss- Sigh -Gone.
  22. Yes a big "whooosh" for a couple of posters I think.
  23. They are all youngsters at the Hawthorns really, it's just that having to put up with the stuff TP & Pardew served up it's taken its toll on them.
  24. Plus,I doubt that the supporters at Monmore got a demonstration of badminton & golf thrown in with the admission price either .
