  1. Well after that I've just booked my first visit to Cardiff for a few years and an overnight stay as well, even got the wife to come for her 2nd meeting after iow last month. Not been interested in going for the past few years but looking forward to a good weekend
  2. Your not going to keep paying out for something that you've stopped enjoying even if it means the end of your club. I was a season ticket holder up the baggies for about 12 years but fell out of love with the game so never go now. Would I be bothered if they went out of business, it'd be a shame but not going to go if I don't enjoy it or get vfm. Same principal with speedway
  3. Seems to be if your on the sky platform it was ok but others needed the next program taped
  4. That's ok twk but still no refund yet, how long does it take in this day and age. Keep away from talktalk folks
  5. Off on a tangent a bit but I swopped my broadband to BT mainly because of the deal on the speedway and because talktalk customer service is shocking. Changeover went smoothly and the speeds as good as talktalk. However,I got an email off talktalk saying my final bill was a credit of 20.19. Good so far, you would think they would automatic refund me but no, it's gone into my talktalk account and I have to apply for it which I've done. I wonder how many don't bother or forget and all the refunds are sitting in talktalk accounts
  6. Mine taped the whole show including the interviews after, I've got BT on the sky platform, no understand why others had problems
  7. Bernie Persson? Close to becoming World Champion in 72, top career as well. Maybe not quite in top top riders
  8. Not the best of meetings but I've seen worse a bit similiar to Rye House last night, Doyle head and shoulders above everyone, enjoyed it but the smallest crowd I've seen at Swindon. Why's it always cold there and always windy. Lol
  9. Although I agree the old one offs were special days of the 16 riders in it at least half were making the numbers up were as today although some of the 15 won't win it overall I reckon anyone of them could win a round
  10. Although I'm passed caring about who rides for who these days without Cook and Fricke I won't bother with this, there's a limit even for me!
  11. As others have said I also just turn up and watch the racing, I have no real idea who races for who anymore and don't really care. Averages were such a big part for me but there just a joke now. Went to Rye House last night and Swindon tonight. Enjoy a night out watching the racing and having a chat, it's not the same obviously but works for me
  12. Coming down after for tonight's meeting, is the car park still in use as usual
  13. I'm proberly out of order but Barry's said he couldn't agree terms with Govier and his representative, shouldn't riders at this level be happy to get a ride and learn there trade. I suppose at the end of the day it's got to be worth it from a financial point of view for the riders but NL level should be about the bigger picture I'd have thought. Maybe he became World Champion and I missed it. I might be out of order and get shot down for this comment, we shall see
  14. Not really sure why because of the guest situation but we're coming down for this later so I've got an important question. Have the fish and chips improved?
  15. Anyone know if there's any Swedish or Polish meetings on this week , nothing on my planner
  16. I remember a meeting back in the mid 70s when Soren had a fisticuffs with Cribby, any Heathens remember that. As a teenager I thought it was terrific entertainment. I'm sure the meeting was a draw and they both came out after best of buddies
  17. I decided to take this deal because I thought £25 what's to lose, well at the minute £25. Taped the last two weeks and watched it today. Rubbish racing , definately no better than over here. Also, every programme I recorded over ran so it didn't tape what it should have. Won't bother next year
  18. Not sure when we will back to the island but will definitely return and I will definitely get in touch, it's obvious from everyone's comments that the 2 and half hours was a one off and it's great to have had responses from the club. It's not hard for clubs to reply these days and it's a shame that so few do. My slight disappointment of the meeting taking so long has long disappeared and I look forward to returning one day. My wife's also really impressed with the responses back from the club. Well done the iow you deserve success and big crowds, great attitude towards fans and great that you listen
  19. Tbh Sidney I do have spells when I wonder why I still follow it but then I see some great racing somewhere and I realise why I love it. After 40 odd years (not continuous ) I still can't believe how the riders do it. Also, I rarely see my brother November-February so that as proberly got something to do with while I still go. Gets me out the house as well!!!
  20. Thing is though back in the day Cook would have been classed as a character which we desperately need ,but now if he does anything like this he's called a k@ob. What do we want characters or robots
  21. I think an hours pushing it but unless there's severe delays one hour thirty/fourty should be the max
  22. Apologies if the 30 years is over the top but as an example I used to be a big football fan , a season ticket holder for about 12 years but have lost interest and I would never spend time discussing something on a forum I no longer watch. To contradict myself though us speedway fans are a different breed so when we lose a team like TWK has done it's hard to follow a different team but still love the sport because it's "in the blood"but then the barmy rules force you out of attending anyway
  23. Iove reading that some of you saw the greats from pre 70s era, what I don't get is why you still post on a speedway forum but have never seen a meeting in well over 30 years and more. Strange to me tbh. I think Sidney as seen some riders from way back but still attends meetings so when he comments I get where he's coming from
  24. Don't get me wrong Dandelion I've no problem with foreigners who are good enough but it just makes sense from a cost angle to invest in Brits like the Poles do with there youngsters. However totally agree with you that it can be a dangerous precedent using kids who are not ready. From a confidence angle and a safety angle. Btw never used the quote "dirty" foreigners, not in my vocabulary
