While I do agree with some of the comments you make, it does matter who finishes top as they have choice of who they face in the play off semi's.

I for one am not prepared to make a 300+ mile round trip to watch what in effect will be a total farce with the top 5 riders missing. I am a supporter of the U16's and will give every encouragement to up and coming riders, but this is a NL fixture NOT a junior meeting. And I know that I am not on my own here. Its a shame that someone doesnt realise that this will hit them where it hurts - in the pocket.

Some nasty looking crashes tonight and just glad everybody is ok. Must confess my heart went in my mouth when Adam crashed - it looked horrific, but as is so often the case no harm done. Big well done to our old mate Kyle, and hard luck Ash, you rode superb mate. -
Buxton V Mildenhall - National League - 29/7/2012
villiers210 replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the referee can award the race at any time. They don't usually unless it's on the last lap. I wasn't there so I can't comment on this particular incident, but I can't for the life of me see any rider falling deliberately at NL level. That said, there are far too many cases of when riders do fall, staying down with little or no effort to clear the track if it's to their teams advantage. Again, I am not referring to yesterday. In cases like this, the referees should grow a pair and award it. -
Oops!!

I see where you're coming from, but the "anomalies" wouldn't be lasting for so long. It is a difficult one though.
-
In my opinion, in a league that only has 8 teams, having to ride 3 home and 3 away matches before averages are re-assessed is far too many. If they were done monthly, riders current form would be taken into account more and we wouldn't be getting these anomalies.

I won't gloat, but I bet you so wished you hadn't made this comment now

Stoke V Dudley (saturday 21st July, Nl. 7:30pm)
villiers210 replied to vog's topic in National League Speedway
This is just totally ridiculous now. I was one of about 8 people who were shouting "who are you". It was aimed at nobody in particular, and just the home team in general. It was nothing more than banter. To say it was aimed at children is a total fabrication of the truth. The plain fact of the matter is that we are just loud and you don't like it. I'm not going to apologise for that. As the great man of speedway once said "We'll do you a deal. You stop telling lies about us, and we'll stop telling the truth about you". -

2 things. Firstly, I too applauded stoke riders when they were involved in good close races, and I always will whoever we are riding. And I will applaud them no matter who wins. What I actually said (if anyone would care to read my post correctly) is that I do not applaud every opposition race winner. Secondly with regard to there being a number of Dudley fans who are unnecessarily antagonistic, this really is wearing a bit thin now. As I said, I have followed the Heathens thick and thin for 50 years, and in all that time, I have witnessed 1 fight, and 1 case of handbags at dawn. Not a bad record Id say. Yes we are loud, yes we are vocal, but please don't make it sound like the riot police shoud be on standby. -

This year is my 50th year of watching speedway, and never ever do I recall supporters from any club to any degree applauding every race winner, so before we take a trip down memory lane, take off the rose tinted spectacles. I did NOT say you were ridiculous, but the thought of this happening was ridiculous. -

You can carry on with ifs and buts for ever. Roynon wasn't there. Neither was Morris. Birks withdrew. We won and are delighted. Not disappointed in the slightest. -

villiers210 replied to vog's topic in National League Speedway
I tell you what, I don't know to anybody from Dudley, either fan or rider, that was disappointed after tonight. Yes Stoke are a top heavy side, and if one of them doesn't perform for whatever reason, that's the price you pay. With regard to the result possibly not being any different if Roynon had been there, possibly not. But I'm sure it would have if Roynon and Morris were. Disappointed? Not a bit of it. -

Oh dear.. I am a Dudley supporter through and through. If I see a good race between two riders then I will applaud them both. As will any Dudley supporter I know. But the thought of applauding every race winner from any opposing them is ridiculous. I support my team, not the opposition. You use the Example of rugby - try using the example of football (which by the way I do not support). How many supporters do you know that applaud when the opposition score? -

Vog I really don't understand what you mean by "rode their luck". Is that your way of saying "well done Dudley for a solid all round team performance"? -

Raiders Vdudley Sat 16th June ..after Rockets At 6pm Rye

While I would agree that it is more common, exactly the same argumentt could be made about PL riders riding in the NL. I am not twisting anybody's words my friend - you are just shooting yourself in the foot!!! Adam started this year in the NL with an average that was calculated from his 2011 PL average. His 2011 NL average was in fact much lower. When given the opportunity, he decided to chance his arm at a reserve level as well in the EL. As it turns out, he has done exceptionally well in his role for the Bees. If he had scored nothing but a string of zero's in the EL, we would not be having this debate and you would probably be happy. I find it rather sad that there are people who would bemoan a British success story. -

Absolute nonsense. Dudley fans have been treated to some fantastic racing ( yes, racing, not riding) this year. And what's this about Stoke fans? Are you now also suggesting that Richie shouldn't be allowed in the NL too? I'd be careful what I say if I were you. If it's a 3 tier system, why are both your NL side and you PL side using riders that also compete in a higher legues? I am dumbfounded by your double standard remarks. -

villiers210 replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
It's not the end of the argument at all sadly. It's just your opinion (the same as I have mine). Difference is, the rules differ to your opinion. And, exactly the same argument could be used for a rider riding in 2 leagues. I suspect that your problem is, that this year, Adam is riding so well, that you want the rules changing mid-season. If you feel so strongly about it, then do something positive like lobbying your promoter to get the rules changed for next year. At this moment in time, the rules allow for it. Nobody is breaking or even bending the rules. THAT is the end of the argument. With regard to some people's argument that an Englisman riding in all 3 leagues (of which there are how many?) is blocking places for youngsters in the NL, that argument is simply absurd. Firstly, it has undoubtedly helped an Englishman regain his confidence to the point that he is now banging on doors with people taking notice. But possibly more importantly, how about having a look at the "no hope" Johnny Foreigners in the PL that are genuinely blocking places for up and coming Brits. To get a work permit, the entry rules state that they must have "an internationally established high level career in professional sport, and be able to make a significant contribution at a high level to sport in the U.K." Mmmmmm - this could turn out to be a tad embarrassing should somebody decide to have a long hard look. -

Shadders, you're the one who doesn't "get it". Roynons eligibility is the ONLY thing that matters. Get over it. -

Adam Roynons 2011 average enabled him, and makes him fully eligible to ride NL in 2012. End of. Goodnight. -
Just remember that we put together a team that was within the 40 points limit, and we can only ride against what is put in front of us. AND, please remember that Kings Lynn were affected by injuries. As far as your comment regarding how long will fans keep turning up for that, you really don't understand do you? Win big or lose big, Heathens fans have always and without question stood by their team like no other in history.
