you really think that if a rider doesn't get a ride at a certain track ( even if it was his first choice) that he wouldn't ride elsewhere????
-
Gutted to hear about Byron. Top bloke and a proper rider. Sad too to hear about Lewis Blackbird who broke his collarbone tonight. This time of year should have been great with the 2 teams at full strength, but with the news also that Cameron Heeps season is over has taken the shine off it somewhat. Great shame. Lets hope we can have some good racing with the teams we got.
-
To be honest, even though the weather has been bad this year, I simply cannot believe that a league that consists of only 8 teams is struggling to get all its fixtures completed. Plain stupid.
-
yeah sorry, I forgot that one, but don't forget that Wednesdays are also reserved for speedway at Monmore, so I don't see a problem.
-
Dudley have a possibility of 3 remaining home matches with 4 available Tuesdays. From what I'm hearing, that's more available dates than some clubs have got.
-
well we agree on something - don't hold your breath. Asphyxiation isn't pretty. And please, as far as the other team here is concerned, don't preach to me about inaccuracies.
-
Thanks Jayne. That DOES clarify things.
-
Really? And what would the rules say exactly?
-
Really couldn't have put it better myself Heathhen. As for no PL matches on 19th, watch this space.
-
Why are Dudley to blame for every problem in Speedway? Nobody knows really, but that's not important. Now which sick individual came up with that line? Oh, it was me!!
-
I'm beginning to think you're right that everything is our fault from third world poverty to Kate Middletons recent problems with the press.
-
I've seen plenty of rubbish on here about what Dudley is responsible for, but this is 24 carat stuff. If Dudley ever goes PL, I wonder who you are going to blame then for everything that is wrong with NL speedway?
-
Are you really suggesting that Dudley in some way are responsible for the cut-off dates?
-
Very likely, and for that reason alone, a very wise choice. Why not sign the best that is going to be available for all possible fixtures?
-
Doesn't alter the fact that PL commitments dictates that you cannot guarantee full teams for the NL play offs. Just like you can't guarantee it at ant time of the season.
-
I don't understand the logic here. Unavailability due to work, PL etc etc could still be a factor when the play offs are taking place, so how does it make it fairer? Don't get me wrong, just because I'm a Dudley supporter, I don't particularly want it to end now because we have had far too few meetings this year. But exactly the same applies in the play offs as the rest of the season.
-
Is there anything else that Dudley are responsible for? It really is getting all a bit tedious now. Lets put one thing absolutely straight here, one of the main attractions for riders wanting to go to Dudley is the sponsorship deals that are organised by its supporters - not the club. Im not for one minute suggesting that the riders are doing it for free, but every time this topic comes up the funding that the supporters organise is never mentioned. Probably because you don't know about it and jump to the conclusion that Dudley are paying huge sums to their riders.
-
Hate to say it but Tom only dropped a primary chain in the last of his 5 rides. Excellent nights racing though and will make the play offs very interesting.
-
I'm sure you're absolutely right in your comments EC, and despite all the constant knocking Dudley have had this year, I'm sure the NL promoters would miss the income too if we went PL. Different topic I know, but after visiting Sheffield last night for the U19's, what we wouldn't give to be going to tracks like that on a regular basis.

Without question the most sensible post on here from someone who isn't biased. It's high time that people realised that the NL will always be in trouble if it doesn't give the paying public competitive racing. It is a development league. I know it's not all about Dudley, and nor would I want it to be, but looking at our own squad (and not including Adam Roynon) we have 2 riders who are holding reserve positions at clubs in the PL, and another 2 who have also made appearances there. Is this not development? Whatever structure you have in the NL, and whatever rules you put in place, it has to be paid for by Joe public, and if it ain't entertaining, then there's only one way it will end up. Speedway is an expensive business, both for the competitors and also the promoters. It costs a stupid amount of money these days to host any form of motor sport. I know to one rider in particular who reckoned that if he accepted a deal that he was offered earlier in the season, he would need to score a bag full of points to break even. It all has to be paid for. If we want a 3rd tier of Speedway in this country, then we have to make it attractive and at the same time accept the fact that it isn't a training school. It is no longer the starting point in British speedway. As I see it, that is now the role of the likes of the MDL, and I hope they continue with the fine work they are doing.
-
Of course they are. Just like they are the reason for the current banking crisis. Somebody please tell me what the difference is between what Dudley have done and what Stoke did with bringing Lambert back to NL, or for that matter what Rye House did with bringing Garrity back.
-
Not to mention the 10p per mile
-
Now you are putting words in my mouth. What I said was there is absolutely no difference whatsoever in the fact that both clubs have made the best possible signing to replace their injured rider.
