Something along those lines is what I’d like to hear -and I don’t mean the wine and dine bit - I felt and to a point I still do feel like I was taken for a fool that I’d line up hand over my £17 and take whatever was dished up well I voted with my feet enough was enough. And that was before we had meltdown Thursday my last meeting was the World Cup round and I didn’t return .
-
So for the extra £1 what are we actually going to get for that £1 ? yes only £1 some will say but we must be getting something for it surely . Maybe it’s to pay for Iversen maybe it’s to cover for reduced or no tv revenue or reduced sponsorship I’ve no idea but it would be great to no were and what it’s being spent on - as I said in a previous post at night at KL costs around £60 - £65 for myself and my other half we can go out and have a very good meal with few beers for a lot less than that and not have to rush around to get there after work or arrive home late with an early start the next morning - the times over the last few seasons I’ve walked out of the stadium and thought why did we come after long drawn out meetings poor racing or whatever reasons - last season when they changed the team mid season that broke the KL speedway habit for us and I thank Buster for that it made us realise there are other things to do on a Wednesday night.
-
And that exactly what I and many others did last season after they threw the towel in I’d have thought any club would try to get those who walked away back but maybe I’m wrong ?
-
My hope is we get back to making me feel it’s the place to be on a Wednesday night do that and I will be there as will others who have walked away - for me it’s definitely not all about winning it’s about being entertained with great racing on track and a feel good atmosphere off track - both have sadly been missing - putting a £1 on admission isn’t the best incentive to get missing fans back for us a night at KL speedway costs around £65 for two of us including travel costs which could be spent on other things and was last half of last season .
-
For me having supported the club from the early 70s and I walked away from the club after the towel was thrown in mid season last year - my biggest disappointment of the winter is the total failure of the club to admit it got things very wrong last season - all has been swept under the carpet - yes time to move on time to be positive not negative - glass full rather than glass empty all those sound bites of the winter - but as we approach the season the club still has work to do to get me to attend. But I’m hopeful the promotion will up there game as the first meeting gets closer
-
Let’s hope so - my only concern is he’s allowed to make a difference .
-
Well this is hardly news then -surely this sort of training goes on every year about this time - looking at Twitter this morning Swindon and Glasgow are doing similar . I must have got it wrong I thought we was going to get announcements each week on Friday- so far nothing to get the fans flocking back each week - still with 6 weeks to the first meeting at KL I’m sure the excitement will build week on week .
-
Not wishing to put any negativity into this press release as it’s great to get press releases-but I thought every Friday there was going to be some big news on Fridays right up to the first meeting- surely there must be another press release today ??
-
Now it’s all about balance on here now let’s be honest here do we want a rose tinted glasses views were everything KL speedway is all glossy and everyone is happy obviously we want everyone happy in th ideal world but this is speedway - or do we want an alternative view were truth sometimes hurts ? some like the rose tinted glasses version were all dirt is swept under a very large carpet - or we all say it as we see it -it may not be what some on here want to hear but it’s an alternative view not necessarily a moan . Let’s be clear we all have speedway at Kings Lynn in our hearts but I for one won’t be taken for a mug no matter how much I love the club .
-
It’s very very difficult to not be negative isn’t it Star Lady ? I’m really struggling not to comment on certain posts .
-
I would like to comment but under the terms of my bail I have to remain positive with my glass half full rather than half empty- so I’m sure everything will be rosy and the texting service will return ASAP So no need to worry .
-
Now we have someone being negative who is normally positive and moaning about someone trying to be positive who some think is normally negative and the positive one ie Bert is being negative raking over last season by naming Holder and Batch surely it’s time to move on from that one Bert ? stop being so negative be more positive and stop bloody moaning .
-
So absolutely positive stuff from now on in no negativity no moaning all balanced stuff here . Or at least I will try
-
Only positive posts from now on Star Lady or it’s deemed as negative or even moaning shock horror.
-
Actually the reply was to Trees
-
Sadly couldn’t make the fans forum as had other commitments that night - you say I’m negative but isn’t it just a case of having a different opinion to the one you hold ? Doesn’t make either one of us wrong or right for that matter. Time will tell this season is massive for speedway and Kings Lynn Speedway
-
I wish I had your positive attitude I really do and able to see no wrong in the club and speedway in general but as hard as I try it’s just not happening- as for the new season will definitely be going to the Ben Fund at Pboro and after that I’m not too sure - will probably go to the first meeting at KL as want to see Vaculvik after that will pick and choose between Pboro on Sundays and the best visiting team at KL definitely can’t see us attending every meeting at KL sadly .
-
I agree rider fitness and bonding is very important - the bit the promotion seem to ignor is they have major bridge building job with fans who walked away including me last season - so far they’ve done nothing to make me want to return. Probably the oppersit by the £1 increase in admission. But as you say over the first month or so of the season will see how things go .
-
That makes two of us
-
Right as a paying customer I expect to be treated with respect from the promotion rather than in 2017 case be taken for granted that I will hand over my cash no question asked - I want VFM - I would like a well prepared race track - I would like a 7.30 start time by that I mean heat 1 at 7.30 - I would like maximum 15 min interval- I would like to be on the way home by 9-15 9-30 lastet - I would like to see some urgency by the promotion to keep the flow of the meeting moving - unless deemed necessary less bleeding tractors racing . For the first time since the 1970s I really am not excited or looking forward to the new season maybe it’s a back lash from the shambles of last season i don’t no but I’m so far not impressed by UEA or the latest press release it’s really going to have zero effect on me or any paying customer- so if you really want me to attend meetings Mr Chapman you have got to up your game considerably
-
Another reasons to start at 7.30 is if there are sun delays or there are other delays at least some racing has been run starting near on 8pm is 30 mins wasted time can’t be made up - for me if the club is serious about attracting families 7-30 start time is an absolute must .
-
Well that’s hardly rocket science to figure that one out - race the same club twice on the same night mmm not difficult really .
-
Or they don’t return to the next meeting if it’s a long drawn out meeting the bit that gets me is the lack of urgency to keep the meeting flowing by the promotion 15 heats is 15 heats if it’s over 90 mins or 120 or180 mins It’s on a Wednesday night with work the next day a 9-15 finnish would be ideal - and just maybe it might attract families with kids that have school the next morning .
-
The slate is clean all I’m saying is speaking for myself I’m interested in the team - how the whole race night experience is hopefully going to be improved- the track is of interest too hopefully is will be prepared for better racing. Fantastic if Lambert done an interview and UEA involvement if that’s all down to the new promoter that’s a great start . As you rightly say we shall see once the season gets underway.
-
How any of that is going to make the racing better the track prepared better I fail to see it’s the overall race day experience that most fans are interested in - if the club had announced a 7-30 start time and less tractor racing and a bit more urgency to keep meetings flowing I’m sure there be loads of comments on here - sadly the announcement you talk have will have little effect on the average fan . Not that I’m knocking what they announced that’s great long may it continue but it’s not something to get the fans chatting .
