  1. Not sure I understand the promoter reference. When did he come on board? Don't think Sheffield have done too bad up until 2012 have they? The 2011 team he built was pretty good.
  2. Please don't say anything positive fairplay1, you're lowering the tone! Fact is IF they sign Albin they have three gambles. Gambles can go either way.If they all pay off then great! If they all don't it could be a disaster. If some do some don't then who knows! None of us know. The way Albin was being talked about last year he could be a great catch IF he signs and IF he lives up to the "Wonder Kid" label. Same with Koppe. From what I saw of Albin at Sheffield when he was there, he is nothing if not spectacular! Made Legault look boring. Hope they announce him! As for being under the limit, well that again is a gamble. If only they'd assessed Albin at 6.5! Anyone know the rule about who rides at reserve if you have a 3 and two 5s assessed???
  3. Ooh hope he's a seven. That'll make him so much better than if he's a five and it'll fill the points used up!
  4. Ashworth was treated so badly last winter it's no surprise he'd want to go back to Berwick where he has been hailed a hero. Also he's proved a point to the doubters amongst whom were many Sheffield fans that he is a true number one. As for Stead turning down more money elsewhere, Whilst I don't know any details at all, there are many ways to skin a cat: i would have thought that the cap relates to points money. They can do other things with sponsorship, vans, signing on fees etc etc surely. any way, as many riders are finding, it's not the money you're promised that matters, it's the money in your pocket!! Good point Friddy about Stead's motivation. Seemed Sheffield were more keen on signing him than he wanted to go there. It's Bizarre that Spin King is talking about finding a replacement for Ashworth when he never wanted to go in the first place!
  5. The Star Article only says the club might be put up for sale if they have another bad season. that's not the club's future in doubt necessarily but the promotions. Interesting reading the comic today that David Hoggart said only 15 per cent were in favour of a switch to Sunday in the Facebook poll. From how I understand it, 51 people weren't bothered 15 people would go to more meetings if they were on Sunday and 63 people would go to less. RTFQ! I reckon that's nearly 50% who would go to less but then it's about the economic climate apparently. Also there's some bright spark who reckons it costs him £40 to get in on a Thursday for his family of four then he spends another £30 while he's there. However he can go and watch Huddersfield Town for the same money! 4 people entrance plus £30 worth of drinks and food at a Championship football ground for £70 . Don't believe it! Bit of advice mate. If you think it's so expensive DON'T SPEND £30 when you're there!! I don't spend a bean in that stadium other than me entrance. Cheap night out.
  6. It was SOooo unfair on the rest of the field in the GP Challenge with Bomber being on his home track. Ward's comment that if he had made the gate he'd have "smoked him" just shows that the final wasn't down to home track advantage but gating!! Ashworth gated. End of. Ricky surpassed himself in that meeting. For many weeks he has been fast round Sheffield when he has made the gate, but he couldn't pass anyone. Passed a fair few on Sunday.
  7. Obviously never attended a big meeting at Coventry or Arena or a race meeting at Donington or Silverstone!! Now those are nightmare car parks
  8. Possibly Third Mann, and like everyone else, I can only guess at what has happened. Maybe it is something to do with not getting his own way, or maybe he's gone because this is the straw that has finally broken the back of one of the few modernisers in our sport. However much you may not like JC; and believe me I don't, he is a moderniser, and despite his ill judged comments from time to time, I think he genuinely has the future of the sport in mind. Maybe he is fed up of locking horns with Toogood, and Van Straaten and the rest of them. I suspect that the BSPA has between them yet again made a complete and embarrassing mess of organising this whole thing. Maybe it was originally agreed that there would be 10 teams in the pairs, including a PL Wild Card to give the local fans some interest and then maybe this was changed by certain members of the Management Committe without JC being involved; maybe the Elite League clubs decided that this shared event was a shared event only for the EL teams and never mind the effect on everyone else including the guy trying to promote it!! But maybe JC has also resigned because the future for the sport looks bleak in his eyes? I for one think this too. Perhaps he thinks the BSPA is about to implode with accusations and Counter accusations flying around in the light of a catalogue of badly handled press releases and decisions like the farce surrounding the Team GB boss appointment and the "appointment process" ? Maybe he is deeply concerned about the future of our sport and has been trying to call an EGM to discuss it and maybe this plan has been scuppered? I don't know What I do know is that the dinosaurs in the BSPA will drive this sport into the ground and there are only a few people out there who do understand what we the fans want to see, and it's not in-fighting, back biting and point scoring (except on the track). Maybe Jonathan finally feels that all his effort has been for nought and he is finally defeated. If so it's a sorry day for Speedway. I wouldn't trust most of the BSPA to run a bath!!
