  1. Funny how Local Boy disappears and Smod appears spouting the same stuff. Yaaaaaaawn!
  2. the Greensheet Averages affect team building. They dont show how well or badly a rider is doing. The figures for this season show Adam is riding to 5.6, 2.2 below his teambuilding average. I was shocked when I saw that because I've always liked Adam and hadnt realised he was performing that badly.. Erm. Do you remember how Adam got his place last season? As Ive said I love AR but don't portray him as the perpetual victim. Last season The then Sheffield management dumped a young British talent that they had bought on a full transfer, who had some good meetings for them, then signed Roynon and waited for the averages to come through so they could drop Jake Knight and bring in a better rider in Adam. Since then Jake Knight has quit Speedway due to having his confidence shattered. At least Adam will probably get fixed up. Live by the sword. Die by the sword. Couldn't have fitted Proctor in place of Poole with the points they had
  3. His team building average is 7.09 He's riding to 5.6. You'd have to drop Vissing or Doolan to fit him in
  4. Loving all this "back the Brits" row lox Sheffield still has more Brits than virtually every team even after Adam is replaced.
  5. Think you're right Screm. I've been looking at the various comments on the Sheffield facebook page that say others should have gone before Adam. I don't do facebook but I'm sure it must be based on personality and looks because on paper it's a no brainer. Comparing starting GSA with actual 2014 GSA. Stead 9.33/9.24, Roynon 7.81/5.60, Lanham 7.16/6.77,Poole 5.99/3.85, Nielsen 4.36/2.95, Compton 4.36/6.34, Bates 3.00/4.41. So Compton and Bates have improved, Stead is more or less the same, Lanham has dropped a third of a point but is getting used to a new track leaving Royno Poole and Nielsen as the under achievers. Nielsen has dropped 1.41 but the biggest drop is Roynon 2.21 with Poole close behind 2.14. If a heat leader (2nd in the averages ) is so far off the pace you new another heat leader. Hopefully this will jolt the other under performers into action otherwise next month I can see more moves!
  6. Don't agree with you. Sheffield's following has declined in line with the decline in he team's performances over the last two years of promotional neglect. What planet are you on if you think the good people of Sheffield are happy for their team just to take part and follow the team regardless.(were the 2012 and 2013 teams worthy of being called true Sheffield teams?) Since I moved into the Sheffield area 10 years ago I have seen this once great club suffer from a lack of ambition. Well no more. The promotion that Damien Bates heads up (does he just head it up or is it him alone?) has the balls to make unpopular decisions for the good of the club. For me its like taking medicine. Some of us don't like it at the time but it makes us stronger. Parting with David Hoggart was Unpopular at first, and I quite liked him but it hasn't had any noticeable adverse affect. I dont like the fact that Adam has gone because I really like him too as an individual but I can see why they did it given his starting average and Current scores but we forgave him the scores because he was Adam, so it's really hard. If Sheffield want to get back to the glory days they cant do it by making popular decisions all the time. So contrary to your point I think the club is now being run professionally by people who have parted with their hard earned cash to save the club and are trying to make it into the sort of club where I want to spend my hard earned cash to go and watch them. Hopefully a winning team will bring even more back! UTT,
  7. Good luck Adam! Gutted he's going, but I suppose a 5 and a bit average from a second heat leader with 7.8 starting average was going to make him a bit vulnerable. If he wasn't such a nice lad this would be easier to take and Its hard to separate the emotion from the logic in this decision.
  8. Take it your pre edited link was you waving to Nick Clegg
  9. I just checked. 35 points from 25 rides. 5.6 this season
  10. 3.4. Whats's Adam averaging in the PL? His rolling average has dropped a lot. Anyone know what his 2014 ave is?
  11. Thanks. All very logical but unfortunate if you're planning on having a big contingent from Sheffield. Ah well there's always the play offs!
  12. Bit odd. The one in July is on a Sunday too. Ah well. Tigers on Tour Updates it is!
  13. I know this is a few weeks off, but does anybody know why this fixture is on a Sunday night at 7pm? Seems a little strange.. I was planning on going if it was the Saturday but on a Sunday night with work the next day it's a bit far to go!
  14. i arrived just before 7.30 and I got a programme. Probably one of the last given the above.. BUT The lady on the stand explained that as the print quality wasn't what they expect they were free with donations accepted at the customers' discretion. So i suppose its inevitable they all went. There will have been people taking a programme who wouldn't have bought one normally. As for what it was like, I didn't see much wrong with it. The racecard is 10 times better than a couple of weeks ago. Nice touch giving out the eggs for kids and the signed Josh Bates photos as for the team, the scond strings need to pull their fingers out. No way should they score 2 between them at home Thankfully the reserves stepped up and Sheffield scraped a win. Some good races and a last heat decider. What more could we ask for? Well a 7 point win maybe, but we always had to win at Redcar so we just need to win up there by 7 tonight. Might have a drive up and take my lad
  15. Don't know but I know who Local Boy is and why he posts that sort of comment.
  16. I agree. The track man has been there years. They've put the money in for drains and shale. Short of doing it themselves what can they do? Same with the team. They've built a good team. We all know the team is good, unlike the last couple of years, but they failed to deliver last night for whatever reason. It's not ability so itust be mechanical or attitude. THATS where the promotion need to ask some questions . Hopefully it was a blip. The other thing is Scunthorpe are one of the best teams in the league on paper. They've started badly but unfortunately Auty hit form last night, and Ryan Douglas was just awesome! He didn't seem to mind the track! Just kept it wound on for 4 laps and passed our guys like they were stood still. A bad day at the office for Sheffield but I'm not slashing my wrists yet. The riders need to get their heads back on the racing and the Captain needs to lead from the front.
  17. Firstly a great win. Secondly I thought the presentation was much better than it's been for years and Shaun Leigh has really upped his game. Nice to see they've taken on board some of the feedback we've given. The programme still isn't where it needs to be but it's improving and if they take on board as much feedback as they have on everything else it will get there soon. As for running out of programmes, not good but I heard they had printed far more than they did on Monday, when some were left over. Just shows what happens when stuff is free!
  18. Im still thinking what I was thinking. Going for it Hoggy!
  19. unless of course youre thinking what I'm thinking!
  20. Not sure what your point is Arthur. I think Neil Machin kept it going for 21 years most of which without Hoggy's help and as far as I was aware all of which without Hoggy's money. Neil said on Wednesday that he was staying on the BSPA so if he is staying as a promoter then Sheffield will still have a vote as far as I am aware. I seem to remember it was Peter Mole that baled out Newport when it was about to go bust and was not the man who closed it down. As far as I can see reading the press release There was some disagreement about how to run the club. If Hoggy was trying to run the club his own way after the others put the money in, then I agree it was a case of using somebody to try and get what you want only not how Elephant man describes it! Given Bates runs a successful business and looks like he is the front man, Why would he let that happen? (Oh, and by the way in the comic the other week Bates Said he tried to buy the club a few years ago so he hardly needed dragging to the negotiating table!) We've still got Speedway and fans are running it for fans. An experienced man is in the background an I understand the Bates and Mole have contacts within the sport so there will be no shortage of advice! Sorry to see Hoggy go but life goes on. Bring on the season!
  21. I think this is just nature's way of telling us we need some more news! Not sure about what though.
  22. Surprised but not surprised. I reckon if the old guard was building the team we'd have probably had most of last season's team including Facu, BUT the new "consortium" have certainly not gone for Same old Sheffield, and with Bates, we have a local lad on a 3 point average who got things together towards the end of last year. Don't forget last year we had 2 guys who started on 5s and struggled eventually to end up with 3s. I loved Facu and hope he could be back at some point, but his equipment was poor and to the season was a little weird and from what I heard he'd be starting from scratch with his Berwick bridges burned from last year. So for me, a great team, with a fantastic blend of youth and experience, with a great leader in Joe and what seems to be an enthusiastic management team! - BRING IT ON!!
  23. No ideas but the way this is shaping I think the likelihood of them naming Andre, and him being at reserve are very high. Loving this team. Clearly well thought through.
  24. No. What he is saying is that because the deal isn't finalised he doesn't want the old regime saddled with a massive liability that may reach ooh £120. Therefore he is saying that Hoggy is doing it off his own bat not on behalf of The existing promotion. Penny pinching to the end!
