  1. Same old Trolls having a go at the Sheffield Promotion. The one that has won the league for the first time in 15 years. Keep going - you may actually get them to throw their teddies away and close it
  2. SHEFFIELD Tigers have been rocked by Jack Parkinson-Blackburn's decision to take a break from racing. The talented teenager informed the club of his decision in the aftermath of a zero return in the thrilling cup win over Edinburgh. Club bosses are disappointed with the decision but understand and will now seek a 28-day guest facility to cover for a rider withholding services. Co-promoter Damien Bates said: "We are extremely disappointed with this news because we were standing by Jack despite him struggling for us. "However we understand his desire to take a break and we wish him well, we sincerely hope this isn't the last we see of him at Owlerton. "In the meantime our search for a replacement begins immediately and we have to use a guest in tonight's league match at Edinburgh which will be Ryan McDonald who we thank at short notice."
  3. Interesting to read Paul Burbidge's tweet suggesting that British speedway should take note of the pricing in Poland where a season ticket at one track is £35 and admission is £5. How many more punters could they pull in if they only reduced the prices in the UK? I have a similar thought on Speedway Star. TYGODNIK ZUZLOWY The polish equivalent is 3.20 Zloty or 60p. Just think how many more people would buy the star at that price!
  4. Nope. Not confused. The guest rules have been in place for decades. AFAIK the rule about not using guests from teams in the play offs only applies to the play offs.
  5. The EL play offs are a great product surrounded by hype and TV. The PL ones are a damp squib. Probably beacause too many teams qualify
  6. You seem to be equating turnover with profit. On the turnover, £80k?? What about kids, concessions, freeloaders, etc On the other side what about running costs, wages etc? As for Sheffield, the crowds look pitiful at the moment. Even if they double for the semi or final which I doubt, I doubt there'll be more than 1500 there. If a third of them are kids youre probably looking at 15k. I reckon 1000 will be there at most. Take out rent running costs wages etc and there wont be much left.
  7. I cant believe Sheffield fans are accusing the Tigers of using Ringers to further their cause. IMO every point these so called ringers have gained them in away legs have been compensated for by lost points in home legs as a result of not having the in form home track specialists of Berge Garrity and Stead. As for the play offs, they're an abomination and probably increase the losses incurred by the club but "them's the rules" and the Promoters have agreed to that being the way to settle the championship
  8. Totally agree. Especially as it seems to be Marc Bates who is in the team.
  9. The semi / final method has been around since before most of the kids in ls night meeting were born. Its how all the big meetings are settled. The riders who know how to rise to the occasion will win the big events in the future and need to learn how to do it now. Josh Bates has won the event twice now and both times apparently he wasn't the best rider. Sorry but history will show he was.
  10. The Rule on theTR couldn't be any clearer. It's written in exactly the same way as the rule for the KO Cup.
  11. Exactly. Hall on a 4 is a steal for Sheffield. Win at home. In the pastHall was a disappointment only because he was used as a heat leader and didn't score his average away. As a reserve he should do OK. Nobody but the disillusioned are expecting him to be a 7 / 8 pointer. If he scores 7 or 8 at home and even 3 or 4 away he'll have done his job.
  12. Great move! Hall at reserve round Owlerton should clean up. Last year was half a season at a club he quickly didnt want to be at. At Sheffield he'll be a trump card. And if he isn't, unlike Machin, this promo will ring the changes.
  13. If you are from the "use our assets at all possible times" school you would.
  14. Convenient that JBA just happened to be available. I wonder when they had to book him? Maybe he was just passing in his way home after the PLRC.
  15. I did notice that the stadium Health and safety nazis were ordering lots of people about. The staff looked scared stiff of them. Maybe they were anticipating a repeat of those clowns invading the pits last year and clamped everything down. Given that one of Sheffield's promoters is Julie Reading who is great friends with Garry, I don't for one second think they would deliberately do that to him
  16. For all that the video shows what it does, I think this sets really dangerous precedent. Consider this. If it was Auty who had taken revenge on Tungate for something, would the video evidence have been forthcoming? it is far more likely that a race will be recorded by a home fan given the ratio of home to away support and not many home fans would want to convict their own rider. Also is the reason that the Masters / Bjerre incident hasn't been reviewed on video is because the people videoing the meetings at Edinburgh would quite like to be invited back every week? Would GRT media supply video that showed a Newcastle Berwick Worky or Sheffield rider breaking the rules? Would rerun do the same at Ipswich etc etc Given that every meeting is not on official video then IMO NO video should be used (unless it's on TV) to convict a rider if the ref misses an incident. It just is not fair or consistent.
  17. Conclusive! Following review by the SCB the following will be the verdict. "The rules about not publishing video of Speedway meetings on social media have been well and truly breached. All persons responsible will be fined and banned. Peter Clarke is a well respected official who does as he's told and should neither have booted out Auty for that move in the first running of the heat nor dealt with Tungate for the same move after the rerun. " All protest fees will be retained". About right?
  18. Auty apparently assaulted AGAIN Peter Clarke apparently involved in a controversial end to a meeting AGAIN. Coincidences?
  19. I remember a few useless riders after their first outings for Sheffield. A useless yank called Shawn Moran and whilst we're at it a useless Brit scored zero. Tai somebody.
