You're right it has been a fantastic season for the Diamonds

Yes if only more teams had supporters like Val and Dave, speedway would be in a much more healthier position. Hope this trophy is an annual event to keep alive the memory of a truly great lady and a role model for supporters everywhere. I know in the section of the crowd where I stand she will never be forgotten.

Can I just add it was very fitting to see the Valerie Donaldson Trophy being awarded last night on such a special night for Newcastle Speedway. A Special award on behalf of a very special lady who will be very much missed at Brough Park.

I don't think the meeting could have gone any faster, credit to Mr Flint for keeping it moving although I have to disagree with the re run of two heats with Daniel King making IMO good starts, no rolling and good anticipation of the tapes. I think we saw the difference between Elite and Premier league riders with the Elite boys being lighting out of the starts. I thought the crowd could have been better, maybe the weather and football still being on the telly had something to do with it, didn't notice many supporters from other local teams in attendance, shame as diamond fans always turn out for their individual meetings. Thought more Berwick fans would turn up to support William, or maybe if the Bears had someone riding it might have attracted more fans from Teeside. A very good nights entertainment, can't understand why some (so called) fans would want to knock it?

Maybe no meeting on Saturday might not be so bad as with the Football Internationals and more importantly the last GP of the season being live on tv, the crowd size might have suffered, also the weather forecast is for rain if that can be believed. Still its a shame for Dave who really deserves a bumper night, hopefully on a mild spring evening when the crowd will come out in force to give him a night to remember.

Just over 24 hours to this meeting and nothing but notification that a meeting is to be staged on the official website, no idea of who is riding, what the racing format is, admission prices or anything to do with the meeting. The silence coming out of the club has been deafening. How can they expect a good crowd with such little publicity.
