Mildenhall Speedway Press Release 03/25 dated 3/2/25: Trust gets massive thumbs up from Fen Tigers' supporters 140 Mildenhall Speedway supporters packed into West Row Village Hall on Sunday (2nd Feb.) to give a resounding vote of approval to a re-launch of the club, a significant number agreeing to contribute towards the funding mechanism put in place via a Community Trust which will ensure the Fen Tigers can return to track for the 2025 season. The Steering Committee of Steve Ribbons, Kieran Phillips, Jeremy Reader, Di Farmer and Derek Barclay have been charged with responsibility for progressing the application for Mildenhall to join the National Development Trophy [NDT] competition for 2025 and to confirm a team (all of which will be riders not associated with any other 2025 British Speedway side) to bring the Fen Tigers back to action for their Golden Jubilee season. And it’s going to be Saturday Night that’s alight for racing for this latest Mildenhall Speedway era, as Ribbons explained, “We have secured, thanks to the cooperation of track owners Spedeworth International, ten weekends across the Speedway season and the plan is to have a meeting on the Saturday night, followed each time by a practice/training session on the next morning. This is, we feel, the perfect model for developing riders - so youngsters and others who come along to the training are able to graduate to second half racing. And the practice/training on Sundays will provide a vital income stream to subsidise the Fen Tigers’ promotion.” The enthusiasm in the packed room was tangible and a massive fillip not just for those seeking to bring Speedway back to West Row after a year’s hiatus but for the sport nationally, as Fen Tigers’ ‘original’ (debuting in that 1975 season) and club legend, Rob Henry told the crowd, “When I started my Speedway career with Mildenhall the track hadn’t long been laid on what had been a potato field. Now it’s vital for all who care about both this club and the sport in general that we don’t ever go back to seeing potatoes growing there again. In those early days we thrived on flat out enthusiasm which was felt throughout the town and wider area and I can feel that same sense of enthusiasm in this room today.” The former Fen Tigers’ skipper went on, “What’s needed in Speedway these days to bring back the glory days of the sport is time, patience and money – and what we see today with this launch of the Mildenhall Speedway Fen Tigers Supporters Society is that there’s clearly a future here and that the sport as a whole needs clubs like ours to be up and running today”. Of the new Community Trust model, Steve Ribbons (who has a background in bringing clubs back into Speedway having done so in the past at Rye House, Wimbledon and Sittingbourne) stated, “This is first for British Speedway, a club owned entirely by its supporters, with all posts and decisions not made by a promoter but voted on by shareholders; and the enthusiasm and support shown at our launch meeting on Sunday bodes very well for a sustainable and promising future. All monies will stay within the Trust, which needs a capital outlay at first for the licence to run which involves a bond paid to the British Speedway Promoters Ltd company and some infrastructure at the venue. With the commitments received on Sunday by those signing up to the Trust, we are very close now to reaching the necessary target for that initial outlay.” Ribbons went on to explain in detail about the agreement reached with the stadium owners, “We have secured the track for the rental cost agreed for the whole weekend when we run – so that’s the Saturday evening for our meetings and then for practice and a training school the next morning on Sunday. We also plan to launch a charity with a working title of the ‘Suffolk Motorcycle Rehabilitation Scheme’ whereby working with other charities and statutory organisations, we’ll give opportunities for young people who may have got involved in antisocial behaviour around the riding of bikes to channel that instead into a positive training and rehab. programme.” For anyone wishing to join the Supporters Society, a link to the application form will be available shortly. Mildenhall Speedway Press Release 01/25 dated 11/1/25 - Fen Tigers set to roar back into action in Golden Jubilee year Plans to revive Speedway at Mildenhall Stadium have been revealed . The Fen Tigers were last on track as members of the National Development League [NDL] in 2023 and the proposed formation of a Supporters Trust to bring the sport back to West Row, in what will be the 50th anniversary of league Speedway at the venue, has led to a deal being agreed to see racing back in time for the Golden Jubilee celebrations of one of the sport's longest running tracks. A Steering Committee was formed in the latter part of 2024 and a member of the committee went to the Aldershot headquarters of stadium owners Spedeworth International earlier this month and had a meeting with the Managing Director, Mr. Deane Wood. The committee member reported that Mr Wood could not have been more helpful and that there is a deal on the table for the Fen Tigers to race again in the forthcoming 2025 Speedway season. A spokesperson said, "We will be looking for a complete community effort if we are going to pull this off - the proposal is for a club owned by the fans themselves via the setting up of the Mildenhall Speedway Supporters Trust; this a model used successfully by a number of football clubs. Therefore the club and the team would be owned by the people who care most the most about it….the fans". The spokesperson continued, "We have made a formal application to the British Speedway authoritities to enter the National Development Trophy competition for 2025 - a league format which has five teams currently confirmed and so would represent five home fixtures. To these we would be planning to add an open meeting to celebrate the Golden Jubilee (50th. anniversary) of the club plus a couple of other challenge matches at NDL level. We have the basis in our planning of a solid team of riders not currently associated with any other clubs and all enthusiastic about riding for Mildenhall". Of the works ongoing at Mildenhall Stadium damaged by a fire last July the spokesperson went on, "The repair and refurb works are moving on at a great pace and Spedeworth have already announced a reopening date for their car racing meetings in March, so there's no concern about all necessary facilities not being ready for the start of the Speedway season". Supporters have their opportunity to hear more and to put in their input at a public meeting being held at West Row Village Hall, Chapel Row, West Row, IP28 8NY on Sunday 2nd. February with a 3pm start time. The Supporters Trust Committee's spokesperson concluded, "We cannot tell you how excited we are by this turn of events as most people were sadly in 2024 contemplating the end of the Fen Tigers; and we sincerely hope this excitement is reflected amongst all those who support Speedway in Mildenhall, in the East of England and indeed throughout the sport". Belle Vue is now off MEETING OFF - BELLE VUE V KING'S LYNN Unfortunately, Belle Vue Speedway has taken the regrettable decision to postpone tomorrow's Premiership fixture against King's Lynn due to forecasted substantial rainfall and strong winds during the race time period. The club has given every chance and opportunity for this to change, however we have unfortunately seen no improvements in the forecast. Yes there was a handful of Brummies fans at the meeting. I was texting myself. It was a close meeting once we started, got it done in just over 90 mins. Birmingham were right on form In the first half before Ipswich took the lead and won by 8 points in the end. It was a freezing evening, was in 4 layers, bobble hat and blanket on the backstraight. Enjoyed my first visit here, worth it.

Taken from Kent Facebook Page Kent Speedway Press Release 002/24 dated 18/2/24 The joy of six: fixtures & team members announced The Kent Kings revival under the new regime and NORA jurisdiction received a further boost this week with team news and a full programme of fixtures at their Iwade base. The six fixtures added to the opener vs. Eastbourne Eagles on 14th. April announced last week, see two other sides representing campaigns to bring the sport back to long established defunct venues visiting: with Thurrock Hammers coming on May 19th and then Rye House Rockets on June 16th. Then on July 7th. it’s the other NORA club, Isle of Wight Warriors in what’s expected to be a two leg challenge; before fixtures on September 1st. (slated currently as a London Four Team Tournament) and in October in what promises to be an exciting campaign for the reformed Kings. And there’s a familiar look for the Kent faithful in the sextet revealed as bringing back the Invicta race jacket to track action, with three members of the original Kings side of 2013 named. Club legend with a record number of appearances for Kent and way ahead as top points scorer for the club, BEN MORLEY will line up as number one – the twice National League Riders’ Champion representing the ambition of new club owner Steve Ribbons to field a very strong side. Joining Morley is JACK KINGSTON, now recovered from the injury which saw his season with the Kent Royals curtailed early in 2023 and he’s joined by a third ‘original’ Kings man from those Central Park days in the ever-dependable SAM WOODS. Then it's a case of best foot for-ward with the signing of Speedway returnee, SAM WARD. The Cheshire-based multi-discipline motorcyclist rode on the shale for Stoke Potters in the early 2010s before taking a 10-year hiatus from the sport, returning in 2023 on the amateur scene and now seizing the opportunity available in NORA racing. The Iwade track has for decades been the route into the sport for local Kentish riders and one of these is Ashford-based NATHAN HARGRAVE. Hailing from Ashford, Nathan was a member of the Sittingbourne Crusaders side that competed in the MSDL in 2022 and his career kicked on further in 2023, when he was the winner of the Second Half Championship held at the Old Gun Site track. Marshalling these troops as 2024 Kent Kings captain is Essex-based RHYS NAYLOR. The 30-year-old made his comeback to the sport with Plymouth back in 2022 and was Iwade-based with the Royals last term and now the former GB Youth Champion is given the responsibility of fronting up the new club at the Old Gun Site. He is looking forward to the challenge, “I’m honoured to captain the Kings this year and will do the best job I possibly can and help out the lads when needed”.

Just watched an exicting and close meeting back on BSN from Sheffield, can see Ipswich pulling the KO Cup title with only 6 points gap to pull back on Thursday. Has anyone got the times so I can complete my racecard please? I have ordered programmes from both meetings to complete and read too.
