El Pairs

It wasn't that bad a meeting. Not brilliant but i've seen worse. As for the changes not working thats nonsense. Don't take my word for it ask fans of other clubs that have visited this year. -

Oh it has make no mistake about that. The racing at Foxhall this season has been superb with one or 2 exceptions. The pairs along with the bank holiday afternoon meeting against Peterborough were the worst meetings of the season without question. -

The crap bloke in the box was either Bryan Knights or Steven Foster. Both are equally crap at doing the job they're supposed to do which is presenting. Foster in particular makes an utterly rubbish presenter. A one toned voice that rather than gee up a crowd and generate an atmosphere, actually sends half the crowd to sleep and makes the other half want to committ suicide. Our ex presenter on the other hand was the complete opposite. Kevin Long could whip up a good atmosphere and make you believe that the crap meeting you were watching was actually a cracker. He was sharp, whitty and generally added a positive contribution to the evenings entertainment. He was also i believe ready willing and able to do the job again this year but was overlooked by Chris Louis in favour of Steven "Fozz" Foster. Another OG and cock up by the Ipswich promotion. -

I agree its poor and seems to be the case at most tracks. I'd certainly much prefer the chicken fillets to an economy "beef" burger though thats for sure!! -

The only thing worth eating at Foxhall is the chicken fillets they're really tasty to be fair. Especially covered in curry sauce -

Being selfish i'm personally glad its not on TV as it will swell the crowd and generate a decent atmosphere. Something that has been lost at Foxhall these last couple of years!! If it were on TV it would have more than likely persuaded those in two minds whether to attend or not to stay at home and watch it with a curry! -

Having looked at the line up the Coventry pair look favourites for this. KK is very very quick around Foxhall and rides it better than any other track. They have the strongest pair for me while everyone else has one strong looking rider and a partner that could let them down. Except maybe Andersen and PK for Belle Vue although PK hasn't looked too good around Foxhall the last couple of years and neither has Andersen to be fair who looks like he's going backwards in his career. -
I agree with others the "presenter" is absolutely attrocious. The promotion gave him a go, but its failed miserably and they must try someone else or preferable try and twist Kevin Long's arm in to returning. Even if he only does some of them. The most enjoyable meeting at Foxhall this season for me was the one where Kevin stepped in to present after "Fozz" was on holiday (pity he didn't stay there). We even lost that meeting but i still enjoyed it more than any other because of Mr Long's presenting. Cracking jokes left right and centre, winding opposition fans up (in a friendly way), geeing up the crowd etc etc. It could be the most boring and dull meeting in the world and Kevin would still make you think it was the best!! The dreary tones of "Fozz" just sends me to sleep i'm afraid. He's awful.

The track changes are definitely happening, the markings on the green were there for all to see last night and its due to take place soon after the 16 lapper next week which is really exciting news. Personally, i think the lack of passing at Foxhall is more to do with the track prep. I thought last night again there wasn't a lot of material down and it was very very slick which we all know is not likely to produce good racing. I've been a regular for donkey's years and i've seen some awesome racing on this very same track. But it has to be said the last couple of seasons the racing hasn't been as good as previous years. The air fence hasn't helped either as its made the track even narrower. But the racers still manage passes though. Swiderski was passing riders for fun last year with absolute ease every single week. Just as Loram and Louis did before him and just as Nicholls and Harris (if he rides) will do next week in the 16 lapper. More dirt would be nice though!!

16-lapper
CardinalSin replied to fireblade's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
The 16 lapper is great! 8 riders hurtling towards the first tight bend at Foxhall is a sight i never tire of. Normal qualifying heats (12) followed by the 6 lap consolation final followed by the 16 lap final is and always has been imo a great way to finish the season. I'd be disappointed to see an Ipswich fixture list without it. -
Anglian Pairs, Ipswich, 13/08
CardinalSin replied to wolfy's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Well i'll be giving this one a miss as for full £15 price its not all that appealing. Its not so much the calibre of rider on show, but i've never been a fan of the pairs format. Much better to have just had a star of Anglia individual meeting and every man for himself. -

The interesting one there for me is Zengota. He's a talented lad and definitely has something about him. He's impressed me this year in Poland and with Ipswich liking their Poles and looking to add to their rather small asset base then getting this lad on the books would be a shrewd move. Be interesting to see how he gets on.
