Interesting comments from Chris Louis in today's Evening Star. He says the idea was to drop down and build the club up with our own assets which is what is going to happen as "the fans will find out as the winter unfolds". Sounds like more assets are going to be signed. -

The lad clearly has talent and has a big future in the sport but i hope the supporters won't have big expectations of him Thursday. Looking at the line up, its very difficult to see him scoring anything at all. One thing i've noticed from his time in the NL this season, is when he's come up against a rider with PL experience such as Simon Lambert, Todd Kurtz, the Worralls etc, he's more often than not come off second best. Thats not a criticism of him at all as imo he'll very soon surpass all those riders, but compared to the riders in the field at Foxhall on Thursday, he's still very inexperienced and behind that level at the moment. He'll no doubt be on the pace though and we'll get a rough idea of whether he can do damage in a PL reserve berth next season. One thing we have to remember, is that by the time the tapes go up in March next year and with a winter of racing behind him in Australia, he will improve again on the level he's at now.

Surprised a little that Risager gets the nod over Doolan, although it doesn't matter a great deal as Doolan can take rides as and when. Looking at those line ups, we should really be winning this -

On radio Suffolk yesterday, Stephen Foster put it to Chris Louis that by the time Cameron Heeps takes to the tapes for the 16 lapper, he'll be 16 and can officially sign a club contract for a club. Louis replied that he's invested a lot of time and money in to the lad and that he's been a regular at Foxhall on Thursday nights and is very settled, and the club expect good news on the contract front shortly. -
I'd add that the 4 lowest point scorers after the qualifying heats contest the consolation final over 6 laps rather than the normal 4. The final featuring 8 riders, 4 on the front grid and 4 on the back grid, all hurtling towards the first bend together is always a sight to behold and its a terrific event. With it being so close to Halloween too, it will be a Halloween theme so get the kids kitted out in costume as there are prizes for the best ones. More details will be released nearer to the event including the rider line up. One rider we know who is definitely in the field is Cameron Heeps and i know an awful lot of people are looking forward to seeing the youngster tackle a Premier league strength line up around Foxhall.

Stoke V Mildenhall - Nl Po S/f 1st Leg
CardinalSin replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
You mean it's unfortunate that he's very very good? I think that would be more accurate and the reason he's "caught in the crossfire". No other non GB NL rider have generated this much debate. -

Matt T has been a breath of fresh air and is extremely popular at Foxhall with his entertaining racing style. It will be a big shame if racing commitments elsewhere ruled him out because I'm sure most would like to see him return. For me he would need to put the Witches first and I'm not sure that would happen. -

Mildenhall V Stoke - Ko Cup Final 1st Leg

Can't make this one today unfortunately but the best of luck to the tigers and particularly Cameron on his return from injury. Couldn't have had a tougher comeback meeting than this one up against Simon Lambert who is fantastic around West Row. May take the lad a couple of meetings to get back in to the groove. -

I've been hearing Sam Masters is a definite target for next year. Would be an excellent signing. -

Heeps having a spin after the meeting at Foxhall tomorrow so hopefully he comes through ok and takes his place at number 1 for the tigers for the run in. -

I really hope Lynn are one of those clubs. I think we've all missed those derbies over the years but they seem to have enjoyed themselves this year. -

I agree with Mr Snackette, on his current average of sub 6, you'd be silly not to use him. He's a good rider at this level and better than his current average. It seems from the comments from the promotion that they've been slightly disappointed with him this year and I know he's had a horrible injury, but I think we were all expecting a little more from him. But it's a numbers game as we all know and I think there's definitely more to come from him in the Premier league so hopefully he's given another opportunity next year. -

He was starting to post double figure scores home and away before the injury after a slow start. I take your point about him not being terribly exciting, but on the average he's currently on, i think it would be a mistake not to include him. If we didn't use him, you can bet your bottom dollar that just about every other club in the league would be interested in signing him on a sub 6 average.
