  1. Thats a very good point. I wasn't at the Rye meeting, but it sounded like the complete opposite to the conditions at the Showground and like you say, the Panthers managed to adapt to completely different conditions brilliantly. That bodes well and show the Panthers riders are flexible and can adapt to any kind of conditions. Our riders on the other hand.... Thankfully for us the majority of tracks seem to be prepared more on the slick side than the heavy side!
  2. I think we'll win, but as has been said we need to stop Somerset picking up the point. Unfortunately Stefan Nielsen has had two rides for Belle Vue tonight and has two duck eggs to his name. He's struggling and we need to hope his confidence doesn't take a major nosedive Edit: Make that Three duck eggs. Poor lad is really struggling.
  3. Think it's just a case of King being a far better rider than anyone else in our team at present. I bet the Panthers wish he was leading them! Class number 1 in this league. As for the others, just not good enough on the day although you can make excuses for Hawkins. Not ideal coming back from cracked ribs on that track was it? Tungate has never liked those kind of conditions since he's been over here, that's something he needs to address if he's to progress in to an EL rider that he wants to do. Same for Manzares, can look sublime at Foxhall, can look very poor away from home comforts. Had the excuse last year of seeing the tracks for the first time, hasn't got that excuse this season so needs to up his game away from home. Having said that, we won't see those kind of conditions too often thankfully and we'll have much better away days and we'll definitely be in the mix come the end of the season, injuries permitting.
  4. Not going to read too much in to todays defeat. As soon as we looked at the track a few of us said it wasn't going to suit most of our boys and so it proved. We'll have much better away days I'm sure let's just hope we don't meet the Panthers in the play offs! If we do they'll know exactly what sort of track to produce. Well done to the Panthers though they looked very good and it's been a very good day for them so fair play.
  5. I agree he's started the season fairly slowly but hopefully he gets going tomorrow and puts in a match winning performance which we know he's more than capable. Not sure about a toss up TBH, that's the one area I'm hoping we exploit tomorrow as IMO we look quite a bit stronger there. Probably put the kiss of death on it now and our reserves will be pants!
  6. Tungate normally goes well at the showground and is usually good for double figures. Manzares though was poor in his 3 meetings there last year.
  7. Yep I heard them twice state that the Showground meeting was off too.
  8. Heeps seemed to spend his time between heats with the left arm of his team suit rolled up, and I also say him in conversation with a paramedic for a good 10 minutes or so who seemed to be talking him through some hand/wrist exercises. On the meeting, half decent meeting with some good races especially during the first half of the meeting.
  9. Confirmed Blackbird rides for Peterborough in both their Good Friday fixtures.
  10. Around 2 and a half hours drive so should have plenty of time.
  11. Was gonna say the weather don't look too clever for Friday. Only Tuesday though so see what it says nearer to Friday for a better idea.
  12. Oops sorry Shads Put the kiss of death on that one!! Surprised to be honest.
  13. Yep dry forecast from now on so you're safe to travel Shads
  14. Well I'm sitting in Cricketers and it's turned black and looks like it's about to chuck it down! 14oz rump steak going down well though lol
  15. Away win for me. Edinburgh again look very strong. Interesting to see how Erik Riss gets on. If he holds his own in the top 5 then Edinburgh look the team to beat.
  16. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2646057 Heavy rain through the morning, and brightening up early afternoon onwards according to the latest forecast. Looks better than it did yesterday so hopefully it'll look better still again tomorrow.
  17. I thought the same so that's a new one on me too.
  18. But probably in a stronger looking heat than Saturday? I appreciate that Heeps was riding very well on the night, but in a race featuring him, Aspegren King and Kennett it's still a surprise to me to see the two EL boys battling for the single point.
  19. Wonder what odds you'd have got on the result of heat 15 too having just looked at it. Heeps first, Aspegren second with King and Kennett third and last! Not many would have predicted that.
  20. Didn't Kennett become a Rye asset? If so why is he missing a Rye fixture to ride for another club?
  21. That would mean them picking up the same point we picked up at their gaff wouldn't it? Need to take the 3 points and also prevent them from picking up anything so we come out on top points wise from the two fixtures.
  22. What was up with all the new food outlets being closed apart from Di's diner? Even in there half the stuff wasn't available, and the bar fridges were practically empty! Hope this isn't a sign of things to come..
