U21 TEST MATCH WILL UNEARTH NEW TALENT This Saturday evening at 7:30pm the Norfolk Arena in King’s Lynn will proudly host the second in a serious of test matches between the British Under 21 and Australian Under 21 national teams. This year has already seen the unearthing of 17 year old Australian Darcy Ward, who has taken the Premier League by storm, and Australian team manager Lawrence Rogers believes this test series will help find another rider just like him ‘we have selected some really raw young talent that could make it all the way in the sport with a bit more experience, for the match at King’s Lynn I have selected riders like the Sedgemen brothers who have both been finalists in the Australian Under 21 Championships and Dakota North who was basically unheard of until last week when he wowed the fans at Mildenhall and scored double figures in his first ever British League meeting’. To take on the powerful looking Australian team, Under 21 GB bosses Graham Reeve and # Name Removed #, have utilised local knowledge by selecting two King’s Lynn Barracuda riders in their line up ‘we know it is going to be tough so we decided to pick some riders that already know the fastest way round the Norfolk Arena, both Adam Lowe and Scott Campos have had a magnificent season and hopefully they can team up with the heat leaders to help get the better of the Aussies’ said # Name Removed #. This will be the first Under 21 test match the King’s Lynn venue has staged for nearly a decade and club promoter Buster Chapman is really excited about it ‘I love the whole Australia v England thing in every sport we compete at but it’s even more special when it comes to Motorbikes with no brakes! Fans at Lynn have a real soft spot for the Australians and I am really keen to see how some of them go around here, it was only two weeks ago we had the privilege of seeing Todd Kurtz and if reports are anything to go by then Dakota North will be another one to watch out for. It is also good to see our own assets, Scott and Adam, given a break in the British team and I am sure they will do us proud. All in all it should be a cracker of a meeting especially as we have kept prices down to only £10 for Adults and all kids 11 years and under to go free and any fan that brings their ticket from Wednesdays Premier League meeting against Newcastle will be able to exchange it for a free Race-Zine’. GB Under 21 Team 1.Brendan Johnson, 2. Mark Baseby, 3.Kyle Hughes, 4. Paul Starke, 5. Richard Franklin, 6. Adam Lowe, 7. Scott Campos Australian U21 Team 1. Justin Sedgmen, 2. Jake Anderson, 3. Grant Tregoning, 4. Ryan Sedgmen, 5. Jade Mudgway 6.Dakota North, 7. Shelby Rutherford Admission Prices Adults £10, Concessions (Disabled, Senior Citizens, Students, 16 & 17 year olds) £7, Juniors (12-15yrs) £3, Kids 11 yrs and Under Free

Having spent quite a bit of time in Brazil and knowing their culture I would say that they have pinched the GP speedway footage to make it look better than it is and that in actual fact the best that will be on show are Super Motos, shame because it may ruin it for another promoter in the future whogenuinly wants to put on a Speedway match.......

ASHLEYS MEMORIAL HAS NEW LOOK This Wednesday at 7:30pm the King’s Lynn Stars will stage a special meeting in the memory of former Stars rider, Ashley Jones, who died after a racing incident in Australia in 2005. It promises to be the one of the most exciting meetings this year with the mighty 2009 Stars team taking on a King’s Lynn Legends team, a team that is mostly made up of former Stars riders who have earned the status as a King’s Lynn legend, just as Ashley was himself. In a slight twist to a regular 15 heat format an extra nominated race has been added and each team will feature eight riders instead of seven. The first attempt of running the meeting back in May was unfortunately washed out, this time round the management and fans will be hoping the weather forecasters are correct with their prediction of a hot sunny day. The King’s Lynn Stars team remains at full strength with Kozza Smith making a successful return from injury last week and Tomas Topinka also making his return after his crash last Wednesday night, at number eight there will be the addition of young 16 year old Australian rider, Todd Kurtz. The Legends team has slightly changed since the first attempt to run the meeting with Troy Batchelor still injured and Shane Parker having other commitments, the good news is Olly Allen, who finished top of the Stars 2005 averages and Rusty Harrison, the former Star who has just returned to Speedway after having to quit the sport last year due to DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) will take their places, plus there is the addition of one of Ashley’s close friends, Arlo Bugeja, at number eight. Other riders to join Olly, Rusty and Arlo in the Legends team are Kevin Doolan, who fished 2008 as the Stars highest averaged rider. Adam Allott who is one of the smoothest and fastest riders around the Saddlebow circuit. Simon Lambert who raced for the stars for two consecutive seasons. Chris Mills, who is one of the most popular riders to have ever of graced a modern day Stars race jacket, and finally Darren Mallett, who has recently been in great form filling in for Kozza Smith in the Premier League. Stars team manager, rob Lyon, gives us his view on the meeting ahead ‘Every season Buster tries to think of a fitting way to celebrate Ashley’s life and time with us, and this season is by far the most exciting idea he has ever come up with. On paper you have two very balanced teams, the Stars have an average of around 52 points and the Legends average just over 49 points. The legends team is packed full of track specialists and it will be fascinating to see how riders like Olly and Kevin do against Darcy. Fans will be torn picking a winning team and all I can say is they should be here to watch it because it will be one of the best meetings seen ANYWHERE this year’. The Stars strength this season was demonstrated on Saturday night after they easily disposed of Berwick in the KOC by 57 points, the aggregate win is a new club KOC record superseding the 46 point win set by the Triple Winning team of 2006 which coincidently was also against Berwick. Stars Team 52.44 1.Darcy Ward 9.21, 2. Linus Eklof 7.00, 3. Emiliano Sanchez 6.81, 4. Chris Schramm 8.39, 5. Tomas Topinka 9.07, 6. Kozza Smith 5.38, 7. Jan Graversen 3.58 , 8. Todd Kurtz 3.00 King’s Lynn Legends Team 49.39 (with last known PL averages and EL averages doubled) 1. Olly Allen 14.62, 2. Chris Mills 5.41, 3. Rusty Harrison6.29, 4. Adam Allott 5.44, 5. Kevin Doolan 8.81, 6. Simon Lambert 4.30, 7. Darren Mallett 3.00 8. Arlo Bugeja 3.00 Admission Prices Adults £13, Concessions (Disabled, Senior Citizens, Students, 16 & 17 year olds) £10, Juniors (12-15yrs) £5, Kids 11 yrs and Under Free

ASHLEYS MEMORIAL LOOKS TRUELY LEGANDARY This Wednesday’s meeting at the Norfolk Arena is being held in memory of former King’s Lynn Star, Ashley Jones, who died in a racing incident in Australia in 2005. It promises to be the one of the most exciting meetings this year with the mighty 2009 Stars team taking on a King’s Lynn Legends team, that is made up of all former Stars riders who have earned the status as a King’s Lynn legend, just as Ashley was himself. Unlike any away team to have ever visited the Saddlebow Road circuit in the past, the legends team is made up of ALL track specialists. Kevin Doolan, the Stars number one rider from last season and who was also Ashley’s best friend, will captain the team. Troy Batchelor was part of the 2005 double winning team alongside Ashley and is returning to the King’s Lynn after two full seasons of Elite League racing. Shane Parker returns to his spiritual home after a spell of four seasons with the club in total and is currently in great form, sitting at the top of the Premier League real time averages. Adam Allott holds a place in all stars fans hearts, and after returning to racing from a broken back he has found great form in the King’s Lynn National League team. Simon Lambert literally grew up at the Saddlebow Road circuit and the fans will be glad to see him back racing there again. Darren Mallett has done enough this season as the Stars number eight to be counted as a legend and has also been in great form of recent in the Premier and National league. Then finally there is Chris Mills, possibly one of the most popular riders to have ever of graced a Stars race jacket in modern day, currently riding for Sheffield and scoring well at reserve for them. If the legends team wasn’t enough for the fans to get excited about, then hopefully the Stars team will do the trick. For the first time this season the Stars will be at FULL strength with the return of Tomas Topinka from his shoulder injury, Kozza Smith from his pre-season injuries and the debut appearance for new Swedish signing, Linus Eklof. Darcy Ward will also be moving up into the main body of the team for the first time this season, riding at number five. On paper you couldn’t get two more balanced teams, the Stars started the season with an average just under the 42.50 limit but after 12 matches they have increased that to just over 50 points. Even though this is possibly the highest team average the club has ever seen the legends match up against them with a higher team average just a point over theirs. Stars promoter, Buster Chapman, anticipates an fascinating match up ‘every season we try and think of a fitting way to celebrate Ashley’s life and time with us, and this season is by far the most exciting idea we have ever come up with. The legends team is packed full of track specialists and it will be fascinating to see how Chris, Tomas and Darcy, who have all been virtually unbeaten round here so far this season will match up against the likes of Shane, Kevin and Troy. Fans everywhere will be torn picking a winning team and all I can say is they should be here to watch it because it will be one of the best meetings seen ANYWHERE this year’. Stars Team 50.35 1. Tomas Topinka 9.37, 2. Emiliano Sanchez 6.93, 3. Linus Eklof 7.00, 4. Chris Schramm 8.70, 5. Darcy Ward 9.35, 6. Kozza Smith 5.38, 7. Jan Graversen 3.62 King’s Lynn Legends Team 51.70 (with last known PL averages and EL averages doubled) 1. Troy Batchelor 14.62, 2. Simon Lambert 5.89, 3. Adam Allott 5.44, 4. Kevin Doolan 8.81, 5. Shane Parker 9.01, 6. Darren Mallett 3.00, 7. Chris Mills 4.93 Admission Prices Adults £13, Concessions (Disabled, Senior Citizens, Students, 16 & 17 year olds) £10, Juniors (12-15yrs) £5, Kids 11 yrs and Under Free

King’s Lynn have announced that they plan to produce their own type of one-off World Speedway Final this coming season. The competition will be open to the top 16 riders from the British Elite League. Team GB boss, Rob Lyon, is a very happy man ‘I proposed it to King’s Lynn as it’s my favourite track and I see it as a way to help me with future Team GB selections, I honestly believe half the field will be made up of British riders and if it all goes well I would imagine King’s Lynn will also have a good chance of securing the World Team Cup Final in 2010. If we can achieve that then Team GB will have a great chance of winning the World Cup title which would really boost the profile of the sport in this country and give Speedway a real chance of being represented at the London Olympics in 2012.’ British Speedways Publicist and Marketing Manager, Terry Cliffard, confirmed he is already in negotiations for a big money press deal, providing the World Team Cup does come to the UK and Team GB actually win it ‘A few magazines including Hello and OK are already in talks for exclusive rights to the team story and photos, the money we earn from this will fund some newer and faster equipment for the riders and also the construction of a new head office for British Speedway bosses in central London, in actual fact we hope it will be right next door to the Football Association in Marble Arch.’ King’s Lynn boss Buster Chapman, is convinced he is doing the right thing, ‘King’s Lynn is the perfect venue and track, as soon as I knew we were going for it I put in planning permission for some temporary buildings which will hold around 5,000 people in complete luxury, we will have amenities like raised back leather sofas, 3 in 1 style hand washers , just like the ones you see in luxury fast food restaurants, and we are also proud to be having the world’s first speedway crèche, which will feature a miniature speedway track for the children to race their pedal bikes around and a ‘Briggo designed’ velvet cushioned fence for them to crash into. Hopefully World Speedway bosses will be here to see it for themselves so we can get a deal tied up as quickly as possible for the World Team Cup Final in 2010. ’ Tickets will go on sale a week today via the Official King’s Lynn Stars website. Prices start at only £20 for standing, £30 for children (including the speedway crèche) and £35 to £50 for luxury grandstand tickets.

It may be worth reading the press release again, their WAS a wild card option which was put in by myself, it was put their to cover eventualities like this. I have not argued with the decision I have simply expressed disapointment, the disapointment is not because it has personally affected MY earnings or stopped ME from riding a meeting, my dissapointment is actually because I want to see the best for british speedway and I personally feel that 2 riders of the calibre of Topinka and Doolan should be there for the fans too enjoy.... Maybe not everyone agrees but that is how I personally feel, I am sure the meeting will be a great spectacle never the less and I hope it is a big success.
