2025 GP line up/wildcards
Daniel Smith replied to eric i's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It's just an idea, how bad of me 😂 Looks like everyone would fit in well with the BSPL model of Speedway 😬 For me, the SGP desperately needs a freshening up -
2025 GP line up/wildcards
Daniel Smith replied to eric i's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It's turning in to a benevolent society when grandad rider's with no chance of title challenges keep getting wildcard picks. Why not give youth an opportunity to build up their standards rather than constantly declining the standard. There has to be a way of bringing youth through & the GP Challenge is flawed in that the qualification standard & tracks used are poor. I absolutely believe the best rider's should be in the SGP, absolutely, but rider's like Woffinden, Madsen & Doyle need leaving out to further develop the series & find challengers to Zmarzlik. -
2025 GP line up/wildcards
Daniel Smith replied to eric i's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Don't want to see Madsen anywhere near the series in 25, he's done at this level now. I'd prefer youth brought in. I'd like to see a mix up next year, bring in some kids. SGP Top 6 Challenge top 4 SGP2 Top 3 Wildcards 2 -
Eurosport, terrible professionalism.
Daniel Smith replied to Odds On's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Let's be fair here, it's not at all Abi's fault. She's just doing her job. The nonsense chat is usually requested from directors through an earpiece. Man or women, it's irrelevant. Even Tatum & Louis (whomever is partnered with Kelv) chat absolute s#!+e most weeks. The discovery team as a whole has no idea what the watching viewers want to hear or see. Camera work, commentators, trackside presenters, the lot is absolutely dreadful. Terrible to just out the Lass, just doing as she's told.- 145 replies

Speedway Managers - What's The Point?
Daniel Smith replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
That's my question, outside of those very very easy jobs what do they do? What do they do that warrant such high stature? -
Can anyone find a genuine reason why Speedway has them? There is literally only 4 things they can do. 1. Starting line-up order pre meeting 2. Tactical Substitute 3. Reserve Switch 4. Heat 15 rider's & gates Let's be totally honest, Speedway is such a simple sport off track any of us bobbleheads can do that. I'm not sure even this whole "Man Management" ethos is real either. 9/10 times it's teams with the best rider's win, not the managers pep talks.

Should be 2 consecutive seasons prior to 2025. -
Retain or replace?
Daniel Smith replied to Racin Jason 72's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Hard to put a retain / release for King's Lynn as they have to wait to see if anyone else wants their rider's first. Only Ipswich, Sheffield and Belle Vue have the finances to plan a retain list. For me only Kvech, Rowe & Iversen are worth keeping but I don't see the first 2 remaining. -
Random regulation idea just popped in my head. Would it work? Team building average to be the same as the Play-Off winners the previous season. This allowing a winning team to keep all their rider's. Every other team gets an average discount for team building purposes. 7th 6%, 6th 5%, 5th 4% etc. A team in 7th would get 31% for Rising Star & 8.5% for Brits etc. Just an idea to increase competitiveness within the league?

King’s Lynn 2024 serious team predictions
Daniel Smith replied to SamKM91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The idea sounds good but the calibre of rider determines the attendance. If there's no GP / Ekstraliga rider's in it, nobody turns up -
I don't see Kvech & Rowe returning. They should have bigger & better ambitions than King's Lynn rolling around at the foot of the table yet again.

King's Lynn 1. Lawson 7.10 ish 2. Kerr 4.60 ish 3. Klindt 6.60 ish 4. King 6.35 ish 5. Iversen 6.75 ish 6. Mountain 3.40 ish 7. ??? Ave: 35.00 ish I think that's about as good as it'll get for King's Lynn in 25. We'll get the same story no doubt "it's the most expensive side we've ever assembled." 🤣

Peterborough Panthers 2023
Daniel Smith replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Nope, it's now greyfield under Labour definition. Either way, it'll have houses on it. 90% certain under this government. -
Peterborough Panthers 2023
Daniel Smith replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It seems you still have the planning mindset from a Conservative government. Council regulations & requirements are null & void. Labour has made it loud & clear that any council that blocks a developers plan they will review & grant themselves. The Showground is now under the banner of Grey Belt, wasteland, derelict. Grey belt development: Creating a new category called “grey belt”, which would prioritise development in “grey and ugly areas of the green belt”. Labour stated that “wastelands and old car parks located on the green belt” should not receive “the same protections in national policy as rolling hills and nature spots in the green belt”. -
Peterborough Panthers 2023
Daniel Smith replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It was about a 30% chance of survival under a Conservative government. It's now 100% no chance under Labour. Quota is out the window, with the now Greybelt added as certain home building ground, Peterborough Panthers at the Showground is over. -
The majority don't. British Speedway as a whole is down to about 20,000-25,000 a week watching trackside these days. It's not been serious for 20+yrs & not professional since Sky dropped it.

If King's Lynn run next year, their best chance of top 4 is to just sign 4 permanent rider's and go with 3 guests. History has proven going with a full 7 guarantees bottom 2

The most dangerous riders
Daniel Smith replied to Youhave2minutes's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think the comparison isn't far off the mark. The very difference is rider's like Crump, Gollob, Rickardsson, Hamill, Sullivan etc would relish the challenge. Today, there's nobody out there up for the fight with Zmarzlik. Most just move out his way. Speedway is still dangerous of course but the SGP series has definitely gone soft vs 10+ years ago -

One of the beat & most exciting rider's to ever grace the sport. No shame for Nicki P to feel.
