Peterborough Panthers 2023
Daniel Smith replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Are you nuts, we've been constantly told all winter Tomlin is picking the rider's & Buster is just licence holder. Now the predicted team has seriously deteriorated Tomlin becomes exonerated That team is firmly on Tomlin -

Yes & no. The old equipment gets handed down to the youngsters coming through that can't afford new. Swings & roundabouts -
It's not a numbers game on the Rising Star list. Everyone who can ride these bikes has talent. The issue is whether they have the work ethic or do they just want things to fall in their laps without effort? Has he believed his own hype & gained a stinker of an ego? Got to say that I haven't seen this "talent" people talk about. He certainly isn't up there with Woffinden, Lambert, Bewley at a young age.

I can't see Peterborough City Council approving a new stadium within the City. They'll want the Speedway moved out into the sticks which will cause a travel problem for many supporters. Many councils are wanting all new noise pollutions moved outside heavily populated areas. -

Mainly been that way previously, Buster didn't want Peterborough & King's Lynn race nights clashing -
Ian Thomas was the original grandmaster of manipulation. Then it went to far in the Elite League with Mick Frost, Matt Ford & Avtar Sandhu, there wasn't a rule book at all when these all clashed. They were literally making s#!t up as they went along to get 1 up on each other. Matt Ford 9/10 times won the battles. Belle Vue's title will have questions but at the end of the day Mark Lemon isn't as clever or dirty like years gone by. For the first time in many of years, (since Poole dropped down at least) I believe the top league has the most genuine Promoters & Team Managers trying to do their best, interpretating the rules 'as they were intended'. Only let down slightly by Belle Vue, but they were in a desperate position. ____________________ In terms of long-term injury come the Play-Offs, it's a quite simple fix. Pick a rider from the 3 teams that didn't qualify & that's ya guy for the whole Play-Offs but said rider can't claim a medal. It has to be a better process than having a (genuinely) injured rider then bringing in, for example, Zmarzlik, just for Play-Offs. This sort of thing does stink out the place.

Is there, I can never find them

Of course it's tainted, it took a solicitor to get the Robert Lambert signing done. The rights or wrongs on either side is irrelevant, the title win is in question by many, that makes it tainted. In the same way many of Poole's title wins have question marks over them.

Troy has generally been exemplary with fans & sponsors, he's getting something out of it i.e. money & an ego rub. The issue is he's always been difficult with those that employed or managed him because they wanted something from him. He's never been one for giving his 100% to the cause.

Being a Billy Bighead will come back & bite one day. Such a wasted talent who believed he didn't have to work hard. Talent only gets you so far. A lesson for any kid that dreams of being the best.

Depends, saying you're a winner then include Andersen & be 2 points under the limit would be seen as very stupid. Quite possible Buster has pulled off an astonishing coup selling a homeless Speedway club. Tomlin could quite well be doubly stupid Just because someone owns their own business doesn't make them financially clever. -

Sums are a little less simplistic when saying how many extra fans are required to pay for him. You need an average sum for the equivalent rider that would be in the team on a similar average. I can't see many rider's on a per point rate on a similar average accept less than £200. On a rough 7.00 average the ordinary Joe would earn £1,800+ inc bonus points per meeting. Nicki P wouldn't take bonus point money on fixed rate so would be £500pp. 9/10 sponsorship will cover the difference rather than people through the gate. -

Many, if not all top rider's demand per meeting these days. £3.5k is a bargain for Nicki P -

Peterborough will have a team of 20 rider's by March with all these definite signings, so added another rumour. Must be linked to Peterborough somewhere -
Keep quiet, go under the radar, BANG........ League winners. Don't need to keep the club in people's minds to much in the off season, mid February is when the chat from the club should start
