Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final
Daniel Smith replied to pirateandi's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'll keep it short before this thread gets out of hand Poole by 18 at home -
Poole V Swindon 30 September 2013 Second Leg
Daniel Smith replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Congratulations Pirates. Called it straight after heat 1. Swindon came out just to defend and got caught. So wanted Swindon to win as did 99% of non Poole supporters did but Swindon got what they deserved. Anyone that employs Kennett next season needs their had testing No tongue in cheek here, Poole definitely favourites for the title. Top 4 far superior to any of the Brummies top 4. Just all depends who Poole bring in for Dyer (you just know it's gonna happen) -
Poole V Swindon 30 September 2013 Second Leg

If Poole do make the final I can see the usual tactical disappearing act of Dyer for the final as he's far too weak at reserve for this point in the season. Who would be the 3 pointer picked to replace him I wonder!?!?! -

Even with T/R's right now I just can't see where any real heat advantages are going to come from. I think it is all over for Swindon -
Poole V Swindon 30 September 2013 Second Leg

If Poole can get within 2 points after 12 (blocking out the use of T/R's) it will be game over for Swindon. Poole just need to have their tactical heads on. If Swindon get use of the T/R it could kill any hope left for the Pirates (but saying that, Howarth apart, Swindon looking very ordinary) -

Can see Swindon getting battered -
I don't like run offs as the home team have clear advantage, even more so if you went with the 3 golden heats format you suggest.

I think the double up riders is one of the best ideas about the Elite League but it doesn't work to it's fullest in the current format. IMO for this to work properly the EL has to move to 2 fixed race nights a week Monday / Thursday except for Good Friday where EL fixtures take priority. No Premier League team can ride on those nights

Midenhall V King's Lynn 29/09/13
Daniel Smith replied to Bagpuss's topic in National League Speedway
To only lose by 8 is a terrific result by the Young Stars. Wasn't at all expected without Kerr and Lambert Back to the NA for the second leg Wednesday for the Young Stars to smash Mildenhall back to Suffolk -
To be fair, I thought Iversen did turn left but that's another thread discussion. There is an issue with the exhaust but my concern and reasoning is with protecting the rider's themselves. When you see what they have to wear as a minimum requirement I'm surprised there isn't even more serious consequences. Someone may be on to something with rider's be closer and more unwilling to move. With the gradual improvements in safety have rider's become more trusting of their opposition?? Forget about the machinery, there must be better personal protection for these guys out there than what is already a minimum requirement. This is what I want to dig into.

Poole V Swindon 30 September 2013 Second Leg

I agree. I did hate Ford with a passion after all the trouble I had with my old Escort. Mrs is trialling a Fiesta at the moment and I've been taking the nearly new company Focus for a spin. I'm starting to come round to Ford again. Are they worth the money??? -
This does get discussed quite a lot but in the last couple of weeks have become more prominent. The exhaust has taken a lot of flack for this but most of the crashes I've seen on TV and trackside it's been mainly riders coming together. My main question is really without banning the sport completely what can be done to make contact crashes safer??? Make neck braces compulsory?? Make air jackets compulsory??
-
But this is all opinion and guess work isn't it?? Has anyone actually said they let someone win, even years after an event?? Many of riders have gone through the card and won meetings before their last ride and ended up at the back. Doesn't mean they've purposely helped a fellow rider with intention. It's just human nature, already won you then don't try as hard
-
When can you remember it happening and with whom??? Certainly don't see it in the GP's. Holder and Ward had some great races against each other. Freddie Lindgren certainly ain't trying to do Woffy any favours. There's never in my memory been an incident of team riding in the PLRC, ELRC and British Final. Truth is you've just made that up. Team riding in an individual is a disgrace Can't comment on last night but thought I'd chuck my two pence in

Come on Phil, don't get splinters in ya backside and tell us who that promoter is!!! If it was a Premier League promoter I can understand a British World Champion does nothing for them. Of it's an Elite League promoter that would be a rather strange comment. -
My thought on 2013:- Disaster season & they are for me 1, Far too many injuries 2, Double up rule again has been terrible for the Elite League 3, Matt Ford 4, Neil Middleditch & TeamGB (Embarrassments) 5, Attendance's 6, BSPA & SCB (Just don't give a sh-hit) 7, Riders going straight back to pits after winning races 8, Standard of refereeing 9, Skysports (would be no great loss IMO) Positives 1, Tai Woffinden 2, Seeing one of our own stepping up (Lewis Kerr) 3, Struggling with thinking of anything else
