  1. The new rules will be released this afternoon. Hopefully the whining anoraks will be much happier
  2. No doubt, it'll be that young British super kid Christopher Casper-Jack I think his name is.
  3. And you get free points for a win. Seeing as he works at the local Tesco he must be offering clubcard points each week but I'm unsure how to apply for that
  4. Agree, the longer the current promotion are in their current home any finances gained to fund the new stadium will be frittered away having to fund the current setup. Just can't see Belle Vue turning any profits over the last few seasons since the proposed move. If I was a brick owner I'd be chasing to get my money back while I could. Although, this would be catch 22 as any money paid back would send the club into melt down I'm sure.
  5. According to another thread it's 7 from 1 Pepe Protasiewicz 2 Jarek Hampel 3 Andreas Jonsson 4 Patrick Dudek 5 Alexsandr Loktaev 6 Kamil Adamczewski 7 Adam Strzelec 8 Mikkel b Jensen 9 Krzysztof Jablonski The top 4 are advertised as appearing
  6. That's great news that you've done that but, can I ask with you clearly not being a Stars fan why you've done that? Not being critical of anything but what about your teams own youngsters?? It just seems random to sponsor another teams rider to me
  7. There has been this saying flying around some riders on Twitter and it's very accurate and I think Darcy has taken note but it doesn't look like he's listened over the winter. "Hard Work Beats Natural Talent When Natural Talent Doesn't Do The Hard Work" This proved very prominent for 2 rider's last season who said they never trained and practiced so hard in their lives. Tai Woffinden & Niels Kristian Iversen finishing top 3 was no mistake. Darcy refuses to train in a gym or have a personal trainer. Riding MotoX and practicing his starts with Jason Crump is bo!!ox preparation. He's young and with the attitude he has, he could get by for the next 1-2 years. If he's not World Champion by then he never will be unless he changes his approach.
  8. I'm guessing all SCB is really saying is that speedway should be brought up to the 21st century. Electronic transponders fitted to a rider's handlebars is a really simple and inexpensive process. And he's right that track records shouldn't be taken to seriously as a guy with a stopwatch isn't exactly accurate. Saying that, I'm not sure how King's Lynn do our times as each lap is displayed during the race not just all 4 laps.
  9. You have to take any press release at face value and Sandhu was very respectful and positive. Let's hope the future is still very bright for the Bees
  10. Sandu had said from day one that he was looking to develope on the stadium grounds but kept getting rufused. Now he's sold to someone else to have a go. Nothing to do with the BSPA as such. Another thread for that though. Nobody has said the BSPA are wonderful. But on the same token, nobody ever says that the FIM, BSI, FIA, FIFA, UEFA, British Government, EU, their own company CEO, Business Manager or Team Leader's do such wonderful jobs. Everyone thinks they can do better. This doesn't mean though they're not doing their best to improve. Improvement = extra cash flow and at the end of the day this is what drives everthing. You are, at the end of the day, getting caught up in the nonessential issues. The fact is, the BSPA have come together to first and formost SAVE MONEY and at the same time try and put a development program in place. The reality is, they can't put open plans to the public in place for the following year as the BSPA, you, me and the rest will need to see how this progresses & developes. Or not as the case may be. The promoters for once are trying to fix a situation and implimemted a new idea. Lets see how it rolls before you go killing them. Come end of May and the situation is dire, then open the BSPA firing range. Until then, BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH buh
  11. Leicester most likely as Wolves already have Dudley in there. There must be an active oval track open that's closer than Leicester though?
  12. Can't see Speedway continuing at Brandon after this season. Regardless of the length that remains on the promoters lease the stadium owner / developer just won't blow any money on maintenance and extra bills required to keep the stadium open. If anything, they'll be looking to pay off the lease This is terrible for Speedway, another venue with history set to disappear and not likely to return. Are there any other oval track venues in and around Coventry as this will be their only hope? A new venue would be almost impossible to find seeing as the football club are struggling with an almost identical problem. There certainly won't be a merge with the speedway and football, they just won't want the track around a football pitch, no club wants that. Belle Vue have been very fortunate in the fact that Manchester City FC has been banging £millions into the redevelopment of the City leaving the council with funds to help pay towards a new Speedway venue. New speedway ventures are nigh on impossible
  13. I believe there was a period in the 80's when the reserves were filled with unexperienced 2nd half riders so that not true In the brilliant Premier League the reserves spent the whole season at reserve not many years ago until promoters complained that Woffy was to good That should be seen as a positive should it, less strung out heats Nothing has changed over the years of speedway. The majority of the time the reserves have always been the last experience, crash loads from over trying and trundle round at the back. Now they're not going to have to do that against the better rider's as much. Again, a positive Again, a positive as it should prove to produce more competitive racing During a meeting it's your other reserve or a blank space in the heat so no change. Before a meeting it has to be another member from the Draft List Most are saying this remains the same, but I believe it will be other rider's from the top 5 which again will make for more competitive racing This is the fault of British Speedway as a whole with the greed of needing to operate every day in the week. As I've mentioned on a previous thread, the UK Elite should be Monday - Thursday, Swedish Elite Tuesday, Danish Elite Wednesday, Polish Elite Sunday leaving GP, SEC, practice sessions and qualifiers to Friday and Saturday but we wouldn't have that so we'll have to live with it. And there lies another positive, we get to make a choice on what we want to watch and yes, I'm very positive on the new changes. You enjoy the PL and have a nice 2014
  14. What, the below quote? If it is this then the mentioned queries have been in speedway for 50+ years so yes, I'm not getting what rules you need to know as these thing obviously haven't bothered you much before. All of those will always be factors in speedway, they're not gonna go away regardless of any rules and formats. As I say, just enjoy what we all do know. SPEEDWAY
  15. You didn't answer the question and everybody in fact. What rules do you need to know to enjoy speedway? It's not a hard question and I gave a very reasonable answer myself
  16. What rules do you need to know to enjoy speedway???? Here's mine:- There's 7 spaces in every team There's 2 teams in a league meeting 2 of each teams spaces are required for 15 heats Those 4 spaces are required to come to tapes within the 2 min warning Home 2 spaces are red and blue heads Away 2 spaces are white and yellow heads Start marshall sticks his arm out to say he's happy Green light on Tapes go up The 4 spaces try to win over the start finish line on the last of 4 oval laps without hitting the bouncy castles on the outside 1st gets 3 pts, 2nd gets 2pts, 3rd gets 1pt and 4th gets 0 and s#!t load of abuse The home fans jump for joy when the home team wins If anything else goes on in the meeting just abuse the referee That's speedway chaps, enjoy
  17. Stats time 70 riders in the EL Only 16 of those are DU from the Premier League 14 NL riders in the EL 8 NL riders in the PL Only 4 NL are in all 3 Leagues = 37% are PL / NL riders = 63% of the Elite League riders are to good for the Premier League That 63% only equats to an extra £2 maximum enterance fee over the Premier League Conclusion: The Elite League in terms of value is the better £1 for £1 product
  18. So are you says World Championship meeting's should be on a week day? That's ridiculous
  19. I'm with our European friend's over this. The British Elite League should be 2 day's in the week tops and the Premier League another 2 day's. Leaving Saturdays for SEC, SGP and qualifiers. Poland Sunday's, Sweden Tuesday's, Denmark Wednesday's. This would allow more space for rearranged fixtures in the European League. People complain about our BSPA being a closed shop then you hear the same people wanting the speedway calendar to also being an unfair closed shop. We need to change, not anybody else We are selfish Great Britain
  20. £25 to sit down is beyond embarrassing. This meeting after all is only a pre season / equipment testing friendly no matter how they advertise it. £18-£20 tops.
  21. I know quite a few biker's through work and they like and respect Speedway. A couple have had a go and said it's the hardest forum of 2 wheel racing. They watch speedway on TV but don't attend because there's nothing in it for them and I get why. It has nothing to do with the quality of stadia or quality of racing but the quality of social time and it's an evening sport. When you take in a BSB, WSBK or MotoGP these are events. Lasting whole weekends, you can go and watch Friday practice / qualifying for about £15 and it is for all day. Speedway's £15+ for 2 hours is seen as pointless and bikers just will not bother. The guys at work have actually been to more grasstrack meetings than speedway. It could be simply a day v night thing.
  22. That's my point, rule books can not be made smaller, only expand to counteract a different interpretation. I pretty much understand the rule book but we'll have different opinions on what certain rules mean as we have in the past. We've both been right and wrong. Speedway's magic word, INTERPRETATION
  23. I've actually learnt a lot over this winter, mainly about the speedway rule book. Especially the proposed new ones. One thing we've all asked for is a simplified rule book but when you think about it, how can it be? Nearly everyone has heard the proposed rules yet the simplified explanations given from promoters has led to us coming to very different conclusions. We've all been critical of some clubs for bending rules but the truth is, interpretation is very very difficult to govern. Half the time no rules are broken just seen differently. A simple rule explained in a simple manor can have multiple variances. This is what makes a simple sport we could put into 4 pages of rules expand into 100's. Just like last season (which was one of the first I'd properly enjoyed for some years) I avoided chasing around the rule book. It's all new this season so I'm going to do the same again. Speedway is at it's best watching back wheels being chased and seeing my team win. If the team is good enough, rules don't matter to the spectator. I can't wait for tapes up time now
