Absolutely right. People are jumping up & down screaming BSPA cockup yet they may well have shifted 3000 tickets. Wouldn't have taken long once the 1000's got wind of it via Twiiter. Whether they advertise it as a 24hr promo or not is irrelevant. They've shifted their target amount to make sure it looks good for TV. Well done Sky & the BSPA. Excellent marketing. Maybe those that missed out will be a bit sharper next time

How Would You Improve Presentation?
Daniel Smith replied to oldtimer's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I've mentioned this on the Lynn v Gora thread. It peez me of with how boring the atmosphere at tracks is. I think atmosphere is the one thing that WILL bring people back. An awesome atmosphere makes a bad meeting ok and puts smiles on faces. This is where speedway right now is: Sh!te presentation Sh!te presenters Sh!te music Sh!te tracks Sh!te racing =Sh!te atmosphere What I'd do: Theme nights for spectators Music & presenters to include crowd interaction Cheaper airhorns, speedway is about noise Get the fans to bring a football / Polish speedway style singing crowd (I'd so be into this) How likely is this? 0. Promoters are only interested in taking and 0 giving back -
There's a joke in there somewhere I'm sure Anyway, not at all will I give him a hard time. I like you will want this kid to succeed but, you only have to look at how up and coming youngsters get battered. Previously Woffy and now Ward would get a real hard time and young Robert had already suffered some abuse from Cradley fans last year with some "You Fat Bar Steward" chants. The reality is, not so much us Stars fans but opposition fans will be expecting big things based on the reputation he's been given from the National League and some continental outings. In fact, the same thing happened also to Lewis Bridger from NL to EL. High expectation but hasn't really progressed from a 2nd strong rider. This kid will be in the spotlight and will need and element of protection, after all he will only be 16 in April. All I'm saying is, he needs to be careful now what he says and does as he will get hammered for it regardless of how small it may seem. Ya get me??

Just putting 2 + 2 together comparing riding styles, history & current twitter feed and the vast enjoyment of food a sportsman shouldn't be eating My opinion pretty much matched the opinion of both Lewis's when they were interviewed, both admitting they found the early grip tough going and will take some getting use to compared to the NL surface. They both, if the surface remains grippy for the start of the season will beat most of the other reserves easily as they get more time to adapt, whereas most other tracks will be slick. They will improve and that is what I'm looking forward to watching, 3 local lads, in the top league trying to make a career. We've never had that have we?? Not in my time anyway. As for my expectations, it was a practice session and everything I expected was on show. I also expect us to be (excluding injury) comfortably top 4.

So, what did others make of our P&P?? Absolutely awful turn out from the public. I've never seen a press day so so poorly attended in all the years I've been. Lucky if it was anything close to 100. On to the rider's (Left @ 6.30 so no idea what went on beyond) 1, Iversen - Immaculate, looks ready for the new season and the only rider to look fully comfortable with the grippy early track conditions. Was absolutely flying 2, Bjerre - Hard to make a judgement, took it relatively easy in most parts. 3, Schlein - Announced as club captain for 2014. Struggled early on but the pace certainly picked up later 4, Porsing - A few wobbles but could have been from over pushing it. Had a brown pants moment when turning to early into turn 1 with both wheels on the concrete and his bike fancied straight lining for the fence. I quite fancy him to push for 3rd heatleader purely on tonight. Lambert - Hmmmm looked uncomfortable pretty much all practice, only really got going when the track slickened off towards the end. Awesome style to watch and has real class but see history repeating itself like a recently retired former Belle Vue legend. Kerr - Strange one. Just couldn't get to grips with the grippy track at all. Then had Schlein chase him for a few laps and looked really good. As soon as Schlein slowed Kerr started wobbling about again. Very random, maybe one of those people that works better under pressure. Rose - Like Kerr, seemed to struggle with the early grip and a few wobbles. Conclusion - Cracking top 3/4 but as Baggy has said previously, our reserves & possibly Lambert are going to struggle early doors in terms of pace. If we start the season with grippy conditions like tonight our bottom 3 will beat more opposition riders than not through knowledge. Barring injuries a top 4 finish is a cert

Should imagine as this is set up by the Polish club it will run under EkstraLiga regulations -
Personally, I can't see any top rider being happy being the No'5 slot for home meetings. It's far too much like hard work getting heats 3 & 5 then 11, 13, 15. Home & away lineups for me should look different to get the better out of the format Home 1, Iversen 2, Lambert 3, Bjerre 4, Porsing 5, Schlein Away 1, Schlein 2, Porsing 3, Bjerre 4, Lambert 5, Iversen It will come down to what the riders want, not what the team manager / promoter wants.

I don't agree with that one bit, these guys will be racing their equivalent of the old heats 13 & 15 every heat every meeting. This is already a big enough jump for these guys at 6 & 7having 2 heats against the 2nd strings. The 2nd string list consists of Adam Skornicki Daniel Nermark Richie Worrall Michael Palm Toft Ryan Fisher Kyle Howarth Kim Nilsson Mikkel Michelsen Nicklas Posing Robert Lambert Mikkel Bech Richard Lawson Peter Ljung Simon Stead Josh Grajczonek Vaclav milik Simon Gustafsson Nicolai Klindt Ricky Wells Jacob Thorssell I'm a believer in the new system and can't wait to see how it develops

Yep, quite a lot of these threads would talk about the atmosphere rather than the whitewashed scorelines or poor quality racing. The club use to put on theme nights etc also. Made a massive difference to the enjoyment of the evening. It wasn't purely based on what happened on track and somehow we need to get that back. -

I watched the ice speedway the other day and the guy commentating on there is dull and I switched it off. The commentator has to have a little bit of enthusiasm for the viewer to enjoy it -

Your right. I remember in the PL days when the club sold airhorns for about £3, the place was rocking. Almost everyone went home with smiles regardless of the result. A lot of people hate them but they do add to the atmosphere dramatically. For atmosphere away teams use to like coming but now it's as dull as dishwater -
Is that Matt Williamson face planted in 169 and is he ok? Awkward looking photo

Absolutely and it drives me nuts. Even when you Norwich fans burst out with 'On The Ball City' at a football match it couldn't sound more boring I'll make it happen one day, just got to find a plan -

I'm with you, might come and bounce around with you guys. Would love speedway to have that loud and proud feeling. Over here The best we have are probably Cradley fans but that only equates to about 30-40 people. Some years ago now I suggested getting a supporter's group for this very thing at King's Lynn & about 3 people thought it a good idea. It would be the biggest grower for speedway in this Country, I firmly believe that. -

Getting better though, there is a more mature but youthful exuberance exploding out of their posts. Good working progress -
Air Fence Safety Performance - Research?
Daniel Smith replied to Elephantman's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I find it crazy that anyone would advocate reintroducing AirFences down the straights after the accidents in the past. It's very dangerous Similar crashes do happen on the bends but most of the speed is scrubbed off and the safety on the bends far outweighs the negatives with high speed crashes. -

Polish TV are doing some coverage but not sure if it's live. Nothing for UK TV as far as I know -
This does look a pretty nasty situation for Coventry. I just have a feeling that Coventry will fold, all the assets will follow Horton to Peterborough and he becomes a co-owner with Frost then Peterborough move back up to the EL. I may be just being a little suspicious but I believe there must be a backup plan by Horton

Also looking forward to it massively but also, this is just a practice / testing equipment session for all so not overly expecting wheel to wheel, elbow to elbow stuff.
