Lewis Bridger (depression)
Daniel Smith replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
If only depression worked like that. Unfortunately depending on the issues race wins are irrelevant, he has to be in the right place personally. Despression, regardless of severity is a life long battle but once you get help the first time it makes it easier to understand and deal with in the future as you'll seek help far quicker. Depression still today is seen as a joke, regularly told to 'just snap out of it', 'grow up you're not a child now' etc. Our little brains are delicate pieces of equipment, look after em' folks -
Peterborough V Newcastle - Tuesday 29th April
Daniel Smith replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What's oh dear about it? I probably didn't make myself clear enough. League to league the EL has the highest percentage of absolutely abysmal speedway tracks made even worse by the lose of Peterborough. That's all I meant. With only Wolverhampton, King's Lynn and Birmingham The stand out tracks. The Premier League offers a better racing selection in now Peterborough plus Somerset, Sheffield, Berwick, Scunthorpe, Workington occasionally, Ipswich. There's far more entertainment on offer in the Premier League is all I was trying to get across. Wasn't intended as a my league is better than yours because on the whole, the PL wins hands down and I miss it at King's Lynn -
Peterborough V Newcastle - Tuesday 29th April
Daniel Smith replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That's very true but it's the pick of the meetings. Shyte like Lakeside, Eastbourne etc shouldn't get airtime. PL meetings are picked more wisely with Somerset, Scunthorpe and tonight Peterborough which are guaranteed racers circuits. If the likes of Glasgow, Plymouth and Redcar got some airtime it would be the usual dross I'm sure -
Call me soft or whatever I believe it's a very brave thing for Bridger to admit on social media that he's suffering from depression. Those that have suffered before will know how serious this can be and shouldn't be seen as a laughing matter. Fingers firmly crossed for the lad

Wolverhampton V Lakeside - Elb 28/04/14
Daniel Smith replied to Mjolnir's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Have to say I'm rather concerned about Woffy. In fact, I'm a little concerned now about all the British riders. The way things are at the moment we'll struggle to make the race-off in the WC at this rate. We really need Scott Nicholls to return right now -
Belle Vue Aces Vs Poole Pirates 28/04/2014
Daniel Smith replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
See the 1 track pony Janowski continued his usual away form Great win for Belle Vue. Poole severely let down by their heatleaders -
You're a wonderful man SCB and don't let anyone tell you otherwise
-
Have a look at SCB's faaaaaaaaaaabulous website http://www.speedway-stats.co.uk/ You'll have to scour every team for the draft averages but they are all there. Unless SCB fancies putting in a draft category in the EL section. I may stick a couple of extra a's in faaaaaaaaaaabulous

This thread has turned a little nasty. Scunthorpe & King's Lynn can do as they see fit. The NL should be predominantly a development league and is treated as such by most teams who are running 2-3 league teams. There is a place in this league for all riders of all abilities of all ages. It's about getting the mix right All the Scunny rider's deserve a place but maybe not all together in the same team. Cockle, Mallett and Campos all deserve the right to race NL. There's still time for them to make good PL rider's or just to race for fun in the NL. There are 4 stages of British League racing and whichever rider fit whichever level good luck to them

King's Lynn Stars V Leicester Lions 30/04/14
Daniel Smith replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What you said. Mads, Doyle and Stead could be dangerous if the guys don't come with their gating gloves but I do think this will be won quite comfortably by the reserves on show. This could be as most would predict, along with the Birmingham meeting a very easy night -
Belle Vue Aces Vs Poole Pirates 28/04/2014
Daniel Smith replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think Josh Bates is on a winner here. He's clearly a rider in demand and with Poole, Belle Vue, Birmingham, Swindon, Leicester all looking for possible reserve switches I can't see him being offered the standard £120 the reserves should be being paid. Poole, Swindon and Belle Vue could lose in play-offs because of weak reserves and Birmingham and Leicester are desperate for improvement Just a thought -
Chris Bomber Harris Performances
Daniel Smith replied to ghostie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So basically, something else's fault yet again. As far as I'm aware, he's running the PJR's like KK, Ward, Holder & Woffy. Woffy admits he's struggling, Harris says it's his engines. Holder makes a semi, KK and Ward finish 1-2. -
Nki Is Entitled To Air His Opinions Too
Daniel Smith replied to The Pedaler's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Absolutely, great read. The piece I highlighted I believe is relevant to talk about. It's not just the Iversen's and Ward's I'm concerned about but the likes of the Cook's, Harris's, Schlein's etc. These might be the guys looking for more dough for less points. 2015 AGM could be busy -
Nki Is Entitled To Air His Opinions Too
Daniel Smith replied to The Pedaler's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Here's NKI's latest edition to 'Inside Track' http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/kings-lynn-stars/inside_track_2014_world_number_three_niels_kristian_iversen_s_weekly_look_inside_the_norfolk_arena_1_3573125 The piece from this that caught my attention when talking about the new race format. Just from this, I can see it collapsing after the 1st year. Iversen says:- "All I know, for me, is that riding against better riders every week isn’t a bad thing. But you do have days when you don’t have such a good meeting. And these days when that happens you’re really going to feel it. I felt it last week against Belle Vue. It didn’t really happen for me and it’s probably the first meeting since I’ve ridden for Lynn (fourth season) that I haven’t won a race at home in a match.Last season I’d have picked something up and when you’re paid-per-point, you want to be getting as many points as you can. Had we been aware of the race format when we were signing contracts, heat leaders would have probably taken that into consideration." I can only see a further driving up of Heatleader wages which counteract the cost savings of draft riders for 2015 just from that. Opinions??? -
Which is the best track you have been to? King's Lynn / Peterborough Which is the worst track you have been to? Lakeside Which has the best food you have tasted? Mildenhall (their fish n chips knocked spots off anything Rye House ever dished up) Which has the worst food you have tasted? Rye House ( Some reason their fans loved them. They need to get out more) In terms of facility's ie toilets, seating, access which is the best place you have visited and worst? Best was Sheffield but not sure now mind, not been for a while. Worst - Rye House

King's Lynn V Wolverhampton (23/04/14)
Daniel Smith replied to em1500uk's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Remove the last reserve race Morris offered nothing to Wolves whereas Worrall won his first, proved more than capable with superb gating against our 2 heat leaders in the next, then won the next one. Was showing terrific speed. Morris's win in heat 9 clouded Adams judgement of what went on within the meeting as a whole. With Worrall in heat 12 I'm sure a point or more would have been there for Wolves taking. You would have to of been there to see the contrast between the two rider's and I have no idea what Peter Adams was watching. Taking out / not using Woffy in heat 15 was the right call. I and Wolverhampton fans should be too, am concerned that Woffy is already suffering from burnout. The season's barely started and he just looks tired. All the racing + commercial pressures look to be taking there toll I fear -
King's Lynn V Wolverhampton (23/04/14)
Daniel Smith replied to em1500uk's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That was truly sensational feom the Stars to take all 3 points. Some absolutely terrific racing tonight but feel for Wolves. Deserved a point but their manager threw that away for them. Having Woffy in heat 15 was neither here nor there to be honest, had an absolute stinker of a 2nd half of the meeting but not using a very good guest in Steve Worrall correctly was the downfall. -
King's Lynn V Wolverhampton (23/04/14)
Daniel Smith replied to em1500uk's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Some positive for Wolverhampton tonight is that rain is expected. Rain always brings a more level playing field so I'm not counting them out of this one at all. Saying that, if the rain is slightly on the heavy side I'd expect Tai, Niels & Kenneth to suggest it's called off with the weekend in mind. Saying that (x2) let's hope the rain does just p!$$ off and is a good evening of entertaining racing -
Wolves V Belle Vue 22/4/14

Very rare indeed. Thought it was harsh of Ms Webster to tell Woffy that his manager thinks his equipment wasn't up to scratch She's a little grass isn't she -

From what I've seen on Sky and Bet365 100% better racing than last season. Far more competitive and that's what the fans wanted -

Daniel Smith replied to hyderd's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Some good racing tonight. Woffy is struggling and he isn't using fitness as an excuse but admits it's just down to him / form. Terrific from him. Honesty certainly is something a lot of sportsmen could learn from rather than blaming everything else. Woffy really is a great guy
