  1. If the PlayOffs became the KO Cup the fans and riders would treat it with contempt. The PlayOffs bring terrific crowds for the hosting teams. The PlayOffs are nothing but a positive for Speedway
  2. Not being rude but if there were some Eastbourne fans around to discuss the meeting then it would be. It's not easy talking to yourself
  3. That's certainly an option, the higher up the table the larger proportion of the league finances from sponsorship etc
  4. Offer a trophy for topping the table it will be automatically deemed as winning. It isn't. Finishing top gives you choice of semi final opponents and the 2nd leg in the final. Trophies are for winners and in Speedway topping the table makes you a qualifier. That's it, need to get your heads around it and be prepared for disappointment.
  5. I go with my 2 nephew's and they absolutely love the racing, they absolutely hate the bits in between. Meetings need to be sped up off track. 2 mins on, race, cruise lap, as soon as the 4 riders enter the pits, 2 mins on and repeat. Make it a regulation that track grading can only happen after every 3 heats unless the meeting referee deems the track unsafe. Us older folk may like a chat between races but the future generations need instant entertainment so we need to move the sport forward and stop fookin about and get on with it. Barring incidents and injuries, no meeting should see past 1hr 30mins
  6. But that's in promotion / relegation, completely different circumstances. The top teams don't get involved in the PlayOffs
  7. Well, it looks like Graham Dury is going to spill some beams in tomorrow's Birmingham Mail. He's not one for holding back on an opinion, could be good reading.
  8. There will be no celebration from me 'if' & it still is an if we finish top. Finishing top as I said earlier is merely an advantage to choose you semi final opponents and the choice of having the home leg last in the final. You win absolutely nothing for topping the table. Absolutely nothing to celebrate. Finish top and not win the PlayOffs is failure. It all comes down to that last meeting. I love the PlayOffs massively. If finishing top won the league, just how boring and pointless would the rest of the season be. At least there's something still to really really really look forward to (if we're in it)
  9. Finishing top means a great deal actually. You get the pick of the 3 remaining PlayOff rivals. Can make a significant difference
  10. Yep, and none of us Stars fans have that kind of arrogance thank god. It ain't over until the last race of the season.
  11. Were we below par though our has Swindon just shown their potential. Don't underestimate what you've got, could now be peaking at the right time
  12. This is the meeting I thought would be our first meeting without any points so it could be a bad week with 2 straight defeats
  13. Congratulations to the Robins, totally and utterly torn us apart in the 2nd half of the meeting. I'd still rather pick them in the Play-Offs though, rather take the defeat in the semi than the final. Should always challenge your strongest rivals and Swindon have been exactly that. Have to say though, completely understand Swindon fans moaning now. Just how strung out was that riding heat after heat. Barely any racing at all. The Coventry meeting last night was better to watch than that
  14. To be fair to Lambert, since he's been back from the U21's he's upped his game. Gating has improved to so that may have given him the kick required.
  15. Licence issues?? I've obviously missed something here, what's that all about?
  16. Not a cracking meeting no, but it has been much much better than I expected. A very commendable effort from the select rider's.
  17. Must get good odds tonight on Harris still not to score double figures
  18. Just thought I'd edit that. I'm sure deep inside it's what you are doing I was anyway. Simon Lambert at No'1, I have to feel sorry for him and this is the strange thing with the Draft system. Reserves can't race against heatleaders but can guest as a heatleader. You just couldn't make it up
  19. Just re-read the Coventry statement and they have no issue with King's Lynn running the meeting. They seem disappointed that no other team accepted the chance to swap dates. It clearly says they asked other clubs to fill the gap, not to get the meeting cancelled. Mick Horton: “I have phoned around every other Elite League promoter in an effort to get the fixture switched, but unfortunately nobody was able to help on this occasion, and we have to accept that King’s Lynn do need to fulfil the fixture." I can understand why meetings don't get cancelled, especially when the forecast is set fair and be unable to fit the fixture in due to other reason off cancellations. One of the biggest gripes from fans is the fudging around with fixtures yet call for this one to be cancelled. We can't have it both way. With what has been happening with Birmingham and possibly Eastbourne at the end of the season, home fans especially, please do not boycott the meeting. Every penny counts towards a clubs survival. KEEP BRITISH SPEEDWAY ALIVE
  20. I made these comments below some 11 pages ago. I'm concerned people don't seem interested in answers as to what's gone on. No doubt the radio later in the week won't dig into these questions either
  21. Wow, it wasn't that long ago we were in the Premier League, winning trophies for fun being accused of exactly that and at the time we couldn't give a frigg about the Elite League. Just because we're now doing well in the top league, let not now throw stupid statements like that at clubs who enjoy the security of the Premier League. If the Premier League is the league that pays for them why change just because the Elite League is up the sh!yter. It's a massive risk to make this jump But I will say, in a dream World I'd love to see Somerset, Peterborough & Sheffield in the Elite League. Real racers tracks
  22. So,what did look like a good meeting is now pretty much a walk in the park. If Coventry can use guests, who's available on the averages?
