  1. http://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/3165/british-switch-for-schlein Personally I think this is about personal gain, as I says about Germany and the GP qualifiers but I certainly would be pleased if Rory decided to get outings for TeamGB. It's not like this hasn't happened in the past with some World class Australian's and New Zealander's. Personally, I think he could help drive up the standard of our British lads as it becomes more difficult for them to then get it. Right now we have Woffy & Bomber, after that the quality is much of a muchness. Cook, Barker, Worrall, Bridger etc there isn't much between them. Including Rory will upset some but that means with the Brits they'd have to up their game. Thought's?
  2. Agree, the longer the current promotion are in their current home any finances gained to fund the new stadium will be frittered away having to fund the current setup. Just can't see Belle Vue turning any profits over the last few seasons since the proposed move. If I was a brick owner I'd be chasing to get my money back while I could. Although, this would be catch 22 as any money paid back would send the club into melt down I'm sure.
  3. There has been this saying flying around some riders on Twitter and it's very accurate and I think Darcy has taken note but it doesn't look like he's listened over the winter. "Hard Work Beats Natural Talent When Natural Talent Doesn't Do The Hard Work" This proved very prominent for 2 rider's last season who said they never trained and practiced so hard in their lives. Tai Woffinden & Niels Kristian Iversen finishing top 3 was no mistake. Darcy refuses to train in a gym or have a personal trainer. Riding MotoX and practicing his starts with Jason Crump is bo!!ox preparation. He's young and with the attitude he has, he could get by for the next 1-2 years. If he's not World Champion by then he never will be unless he changes his approach.
  4. I'm guessing all SCB is really saying is that speedway should be brought up to the 21st century. Electronic transponders fitted to a rider's handlebars is a really simple and inexpensive process. And he's right that track records shouldn't be taken to seriously as a guy with a stopwatch isn't exactly accurate. Saying that, I'm not sure how King's Lynn do our times as each lap is displayed during the race not just all 4 laps.
  5. So are you says World Championship meeting's should be on a week day? That's ridiculous
  6. I'm with our European friend's over this. The British Elite League should be 2 day's in the week tops and the Premier League another 2 day's. Leaving Saturdays for SEC, SGP and qualifiers. Poland Sunday's, Sweden Tuesday's, Denmark Wednesday's. This would allow more space for rearranged fixtures in the European League. People complain about our BSPA being a closed shop then you hear the same people wanting the speedway calendar to also being an unfair closed shop. We need to change, not anybody else We are selfish Great Britain
  7. I know quite a few biker's through work and they like and respect Speedway. A couple have had a go and said it's the hardest forum of 2 wheel racing. They watch speedway on TV but don't attend because there's nothing in it for them and I get why. It has nothing to do with the quality of stadia or quality of racing but the quality of social time and it's an evening sport. When you take in a BSB, WSBK or MotoGP these are events. Lasting whole weekends, you can go and watch Friday practice / qualifying for about £15 and it is for all day. Speedway's £15+ for 2 hours is seen as pointless and bikers just will not bother. The guys at work have actually been to more grasstrack meetings than speedway. It could be simply a day v night thing.
  8. Also looks under the tier 5 visa he can exit and enter the UK as many times as he wishes provided his "UK based sponsors" issue a "multiple entry certificate of sponsorship".
  9. I'm starting to wonder if we're not making any announcements on this meeting because it's going to be a 'behind closed doors' event. If not, this is a meeting our promotion should be jumping up and down about. People prefer team over individual meetings and there is genuine class in this one and there will be people that will come from miles around I'm sure.
  10. Correct, not since the Stars last visited. It could look like Wembley but it will always be a poop hole to me just like the Showground
  11. Just so you know, there is no age restriction that I know of. Lewis Blackbird will be 27 come the start of the season
  12. Absolutely, you'll never catch me in that poop hole unless the Stars team are the visitors
  13. This is a strange one for me. Isn't Lambert old enough to race everywhere else except the UK? This fixture will be set up under Polish regulations I should imagine and not part of the BSPA. If that is the case he should be eligible for this and I agree, he would be stronger against what's available for that Polish team I can't remember how to spell. (Zielona Gora (copy paste from above ))
  14. Can I ask which track that was? I'm sure we (King's Lynn) allow free entry to registered carer's
  15. Most tracks normally price disability entrances as concessions but if a helper is required they are usually free entrants I believe
  16. I'm with you on this one. It's a "no frills" line up just solid. Passing will be at a premium this year.
  17. My understanding was that the council were paying for the construction and Belle Vue were to pay a fee of around £1.5m back to the Council over 50 years + yearly rent or something?? The builders will be receiving their money straight after completion so that won't be the hold up
  18. I thread isn't about hate. It's about rider's you just couldn't connect with. It's a very different meaning
  19. If the SGP's are only netting BSI £1.5m a year profit that is poor. Their business director should be fired but to the general public that seems to be a reasonable amount
  20. Interesting thread and I have quite a long list. These are what I can think of now Ryan Sullivan Ryan Fisher Gary Havelock Tomasz Gollob Darcy Ward Chris Harris Mario Jirout Kris Kasprzak David Norris Scott Nicholls Magnus Zetterstrom Ben Barker Andre Compton Martin Dugard Joe Haines Jerran Hart Eddie Kennett Nigel Sadler
  21. Just from statistics of my mates the Cardiff GP does nothing for British Speedway. I have 4 mates that I use to go to speedway with when at school, they now only do Cardiff. They see it as a one off spectacle just like MotoGP and F1. I now go to Cardiff with my Mrs, Mum, Dad, Sister, Brother In Law and 4 Nephews. Only 1 of my nephews, my Dad and me attend King's Lynn week in week out. So personally, the stats don't add up that the Cardiff GP supports British Speedway.
  22. There certainly is. Some got severe stiffy's when they'd seen him mention Aus as "home" while racing a sprint car.
  23. Nigel Pearson has just announced new 5 year deal for speedway on SkySports
