Like it but I think 10 metre gaps may be to large. 10 metres is tough when a rider touches the tapes so would be extremely harsh on a rider who wasn't at fault for the restart, especially if they were right on the back wheel of the rider in front. 5 metre gaps may be better as it's enough of a start for the leading rider but also enough for the others to really get their teeth into chasing down those in front

It's an absolute myth that if all these guys turned up the crowds would increase. Certainly not substantially enough to cover the riders costs and be sustainable -

The most annoying thing so far is I can barely hear the bikes when racing. If speedway ever goes electric it will be a disaster, hate silent speedway. I need the noise -

The Lighter Side Of Speedway
Daniel Smith replied to hulvik's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The tales of Buster Chapman are endless but my favourite was when he once charged up to the referees box ranting and raving. You could see the box shaking then proceeded to climb round the front and clean the windows still ranting after a rider was excluded. One I didn't see but plenty regularly still talk about was he laid down at the start gates and refused to move until a rider was put back in the race. -
Speedway Best Pairs
Daniel Smith replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
Out of the 2 One Sport events I think they should push the FIM to sanction the Pairs as an official World Championship event. It's my most favourite part of Speedway ever watching rider's team ride. It's beautiful poetry and the reason to love Speedway. As a note, with how sh!yte Nicki Pedersen was I'd have been a bit p!$$ed if I was Hans Andersen not to get a ride -

My favourite comments tonight was from comedian Jack, along the lines of "there he goes into a left hander..... What am I talking about, they're all left handers." Sam and Jack then proceed to wet themselves laughing, brilliant -

Terrific meeting. Absolutely glued to it and with the commentary turned up. Getting use to Jack Burnicle and Sam Ermolenko, once you get passed all the bungling is actually quite entertaining in itself. -
Newcastle Drop Rosen....

Has something gone wrong in the Lambert camp? At the team announcement supporters meeting back last year Lambert specifically said he'd have no time to ride Premier League due to riding commitments in the British EL + German and Danish leagues -
Riders Begging Fans For Money
Daniel Smith replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I couldn't care less where Fisher wants his family to live, or where rider's want to ride. I couldn't care less if a rider, promotion, club are making £100,000 profit or £100,000 losses. This is a sport I love and as long as a contribution is being made to my enjoyment of the sport I'm willing to chuck a few quid in here and there. -

You have to use 3 separators for multiples. x1.666 is the same as ÷0.6 -
Swedish Elitserien 2014, Round 1
Daniel Smith replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
I may be alone but I'm obviously going to compare to the British Elite League and to be quite frank it was very similar. Races out front and at the back, follow the leader in a few and a high gulf in class in some heats. The weather may have played it's part but having better riders certainly didn't make it any more entertaining. Let's see what the next few weeks bring -

Lewis Bridger (depression)

depression doesn't make people dangerous for goodness sake. Some seem to think his issues are Speedway related, that's how closed minded some can be. -

Wow, now I am surprised by that comment. See, this is depression we're talking about and there are no rules to it. No depression is one and the same. Speedway may be his only sense of enjoyment and while being at the back he's searching for things to entertain himself. People need to be careful and not stereotype this illness. Even the most depressed has or finds something that picks them up. Absolutely anything Speedway Drinking Football Cheating on a partner Drugs Eating Lying Etc etc Everyone who has suffered will know their 'pick me up' but the issues arise as these don't last 24/7 and the viscous circle just gets bigger, harder and faster until it cracks and as we've seen these cracks can mean death. Just because you see a smile...................... -
A very difficult subject this one. There are posters that are very good a drawing people in without being abusive but knowing full well that the replies will be. To me, these posters need an element of control too. But, to be fair I would say most of the language is used as banner between posters (Which I think it's what SCB was referring to when he mentioned Stevebrum) and I'm absolutely fine with that. I would say on the whole that this forum is one of the friendliest around, especially as a sport forum and most mods do a very good job at monitoring. Certainly don't need poster being banned for minor infringements

I think people are confused by what's sport and what's not. Speedway today is definitely sport and a far more professional sport than it's ever been. With all the riders far more dedicated than ever before. There's so much placed on winning races, winning meetings, winning trophies. Years gone by it was definitely entertainment. I think there was certainly more riders from years gone by that wanted to be wheel to wheel with the opposition. Today it's about being out the gate first and not wanting anyone near them. It's all about opinion though, certainly no hard and fast rule to defining sport and entertainment.

Lewis Bridger (depression)
Daniel Smith replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
If only depression worked like that. Unfortunately depending on the issues race wins are irrelevant, he has to be in the right place personally. Despression, regardless of severity is a life long battle but once you get help the first time it makes it easier to understand and deal with in the future as you'll seek help far quicker. Depression still today is seen as a joke, regularly told to 'just snap out of it', 'grow up you're not a child now' etc. Our little brains are delicate pieces of equipment, look after em' folks
