The need for reserves?
Daniel Smith replied to Coventry_Bee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The dont think need for reserves is necessary any more. I'd still keep it 7 man teams, make the top 2 rider's at 1 & 5, and the 2 lowest at 6 & 7. With current rules, we now have R/R and I/R/R. The only change I'd make to the rules is that I/R/R is allowed if a team is using R/R already. Each rider can only take 1 ride. Also, with R/R and I/R/R it should be 2 rider's with a higher or the same average and all rider's with a lower average. This then would (If the No7 was injured) only leave 1 heat with 3 rider's only. But if a team uses I/R/R that injured rider is sidelined for 8 days minimum. This way, the need for reserves to take 7 rides is unnecessary to the sport, and rightly so. -
Kings Lynn v Poole Wednesday August 29th
Daniel Smith replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If I was Middleditch or Ford I be telling my rider's to be well beaten, 60-30ish, in the hope that would give the King's Lynn management the confidence to pick them in the Play-Offs. Pay the rider's a guarantee set of money to throw the meeting. This late in the season it's all about gamesmanship, tactics, and Poole certainly don't want Somerset out of all the other Play-Off teams. -

Buster isn't that stupid to prepare a track this Wednesday and the same again if Poole come back in the Play-Offs -
Simon for the rest of the season. Andersen no longer fits due to signing Riss. They used Simon's average to allow that move to take place, replacing Garrity.

Kings Lynn v Poole Wednesday August 29th

The Championship should have NO SAY in Premiership matters going forward. In 2019, if Championship clubs wish to continue on a Thursday they have 2 options:- lose all priority to rider's in the Premiership or step up a division. -
Meaningful Second Halves anyone?
Daniel Smith replied to cinderfella's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
5 mins after every 4 heats is very reasonable. Toilet break, food or drink etc etc. With intervals everyone does all these at once and queues get ridiculous sometimes. Ending up missing a heat or 2 because of. Also when TV is in town there is then no need to change an already set schedule. 4mins is plenty of time from 1 heat to the next. 2mins, race, lap of honour then 2mins. If everything runs perfect a meeting can be done in 80mins. Allowing for other factors in a meeting would take it to around 90-100mins. All very reasonable. Meeting today are still unnecessarily dragged out, quite a bit caused by the rider's themselves with 2-3 of gardening. Then when an anomaly crops up meetings are over 2 hours and becomes a drag for everyone. That then becomes unacceptable. Even with things like tape touching/breaking the 2 mins should be straight on and rider's at the start. Even if the tapes ain't completely fixed. All the time given for 2 on the trot is unnecessary. There has to be a much tighter schedule for British Speedway, like I said, when an anomaly comes along people would still leave meetings at a reasonable time. I'd even make it rule that no meetings are allowed to run past 10pm regardless. And with the original post of this thread, no to 2nd halves. About a quarter of the attendances would watch. No point adding extra costs to an evening for about 100-200 folk. -
Meaningful Second Halves anyone?
Daniel Smith replied to cinderfella's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I don't think that's true at all. Many today are just fed up of the constant standing about with nothing happening and meaningless chit chat from the centre green. What's required is for the race to be finished and on with the next one. Families would most certainly be happy to be over and done with within at least 60-80mins -

I'm highly critical of the management team at King's Lynn BUT:- Esbjerg have done this a few times in 2018 and Iversen has been at King's Lynn. We'll just have to wait and see but imo Denmark has every right to call the shots whenever they feel like it on a Wednesday. -

Even back in the day stadiums were half empty once the 2nd half started. Was part of the reason they were dropped along with rider's unwillingness. Don't think there's a better solution, there's nothing wrong with the current 15 heats. The issue is the fluidity of the current system. People today demand more for their money. Needs to be none stop entertainment from start to finish. What is needed is a GP style format. From heat 1, 2mins on and a countdown clock and ready to race on zero. Not ready, excluded with no replacement allowed. No return to pits or they too are excluded. Winning rider rides round for lap of honour, while doing so 2mins on for next heat and so on. 5min break every 4 heats. Allows for track grade, toilet/tea breaks for medical teams etc. No more intervals, absolutely pointless. -

Monday the 10th of September if so, crunch match, battle for top supremacy. With Somerset at Belle Vue too, maybe both meeting would make cracking television. -
Race for the Top 4
Daniel Smith replied to ReadingRacer2017's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think we should have Poole in the semi-finals. Beat them and the chances of winning the league is easier, also, it'll be easier to take the defeat in the semis than it would in the final. Always the best option to take on your toughest challenge as early as possible. -

We'll go without him too, just go there expecting nothing and pick a load of Championship guests. We need to get the fixture done and try to finish top on merit rather than stopping a team riding all their home fixtures. -

Dates must of been included for Somerset to run a double header when King's Lynn wasn't riding. That's 2 other dates as the 15th and 20th August. To get this fixture in, a Tuesday may be ideal. Somerset without Doyle, King's Lynn without Lambert so fair and square. -

Can't see Buster giving himself a fine and Godfrey wouldn't go against his partner in crime. I'm sure the pressure and fines would come from the SCB. -

A huge well done to the management and staff in running both meetings smoothly. Perfect results for the Stars. Are we seeing a side finally clicking all together at the right time?!? -

King's Lynn v Wolves 22/08/18 DOUBLE HEADER
Daniel Smith replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Here's the thing, charge the usual admission (£16.50) and get 1000 through the door would average around £16,500. Get 600 because you've over charged (£25) and the club will only average £15,000. To break even 660 are needed. For me, 30 races (especially against the same team) at £18 is excellent value and more likely to encourage more punters in. Maybe more Wolves fans and even reasonably close fans of other teams would turn up for what seems a bargain i.e Peterborough and Mildenhall etc. (For the record, figures worked out by meeting in the middle of adult and concession admissions) -

That's right, let's have a forum where everyone can tickle each others butt hole One thing for sure is I fully accept other people's opinions, what isn't acceptable is dictatorship that we must talk all things rosy. What I don't like is seeing is the management taking no responsibility for the issues they find themselves in. They take to social media and issue press releases blaming all and sundry for all issues. They lap up all the kiss a$$ responses etc etc. Yes I have been a whining old biatch for about 18 months but that's because I DO care. I was a very positive supporter for over 30 years. When seeing the management being irresponsible and in denial of issues being there own fault I'm gonna say so. The club and British Speedway as a whole is on a very slippery slope, it's time for those with there heads buried in the sand to realise the problems the sport is in. The more people just continue on the quicker Speedway in this country dies. -
