  1. Everything's falling into the lap of the Stars tonight. Excellent result. A lot of praying will be had at the Adrian Flux Arena that the weather holds out for the Leicester double header.
  2. With King's Lynn getting 3 points at Wolverhampton and Somerset failing badly, only taking a point at Leicester, this meeting tomorrow is a desperate meeting for Somerset.
  3. Ty Proctor surely a doubt for King's Lynn after withdrawing tonight. With Klindt for Iversen, King's Lynn will be in for a hard time when a result is really needed.
  4. Proctor's withdrawal must put the rest of the week in doubt. A result tomorrow is far more important to top the table
  5. I think we might just do a Poole on Monday, then try to make a statement at Somerset on Tuesday. Even without Iversen we're more than capable. We've been on this road before though, needing to beat bottom of the table Leicester at home to make the Play-Offs and got beaten. Stranger things do happen. Although the Play-Off place is nailed on, the chance to make the first pick is big as the team that does top the table WILL NOT be picking the Pirates.
  6. Throwing in the odd duff meeting doesn't really alter averages all that much when on the rolling scheme.
  7. If you want discuss Somerset you need to go to the Premiership section. This thread is about teams not named after towns or cities. Anyway, apart from Kent and Somerset I don't think there's many more. Edit:- Bristol today is actually classified as a county, so Bristol Bulldogs would qualify.
  8. 15 heats, heats 14 and 15 nominated races. Top 2 in the averages can't ride heat 14, bottom 2 in the averages can't ride heat 15.
  9. Rory Schlein, Craig Cook, Chris Harris, Scott Nicholls, Danny King, Nick Morris, Nicoli Klindt, Stevie Worrall and now, probably Dan Bewley in 2019. These guys are doubling down rather than up. These rider's in theory are way above the Championship level. In saying that, I'll always believe that rider's that don't compete on the continent should be allowed to ride both British divisions. More than the Premiership getting weaker, it's more the Championship getting stronger. The better rider's in the 2nd tier continue at that level so it doesn't cut off an income if things don't go to plan abroad, i.e Craig Cook.
  10. The referee was wrong. R/R is still the missing rider. R/R can be replaced by a Tac Sub.
  11. That's wrong, unless they tried to use it in heat 8 which isn't permitted.
  12. Don't think Bewley being out damages Belle Vue all that much personally. Only Cook and Fricke can't take an R/R ride but if they're 6 down they could. With Worrall finding some form again, way better than those that were in for him while injured, so that increases the point scoring potential.
  13. Neil and Matt been reading my post, also the reverse psychology of "King's Lynn would never pick us in the semi's". Game plan for Poole coming together nicely so far
  14. Nope, tactics isn't cheating. As long as they don't have a night of 10+ EF's and are running close to back wheels nobody would really notice.
  15. Think Poole will struggle a bit more from 1st September with Klindt and Woryna in the main team. Worrall and Jakobsen is nowhere near as strong as Klindt or Woryna at reserve. If Kurtz has his off day there's no covering him like the other 2 did.
  16. The dont think need for reserves is necessary any more. I'd still keep it 7 man teams, make the top 2 rider's at 1 & 5, and the 2 lowest at 6 & 7. With current rules, we now have R/R and I/R/R. The only change I'd make to the rules is that I/R/R is allowed if a team is using R/R already. Each rider can only take 1 ride. Also, with R/R and I/R/R it should be 2 rider's with a higher or the same average and all rider's with a lower average. This then would (If the No7 was injured) only leave 1 heat with 3 rider's only. But if a team uses I/R/R that injured rider is sidelined for 8 days minimum. This way, the need for reserves to take 7 rides is unnecessary to the sport, and rightly so.
  17. If I was Middleditch or Ford I be telling my rider's to be well beaten, 60-30ish, in the hope that would give the King's Lynn management the confidence to pick them in the Play-Offs. Pay the rider's a guarantee set of money to throw the meeting. This late in the season it's all about gamesmanship, tactics, and Poole certainly don't want Somerset out of all the other Play-Off teams.
  18. Buster isn't that stupid to prepare a track this Wednesday and the same again if Poole come back in the Play-Offs
  19. Simon for the rest of the season. Andersen no longer fits due to signing Riss. They used Simon's average to allow that move to take place, replacing Garrity.
  20. Isn't Iversen, Lambert and Doyle all missing, riding in Sweden?? Somerset will also have Covatti in Glasgow with Ipswich. Edit:- Scrap that, Doyle and Lambert are available.
  21. The Championship should have NO SAY in Premiership matters going forward. In 2019, if Championship clubs wish to continue on a Thursday they have 2 options:- lose all priority to rider's in the Premiership or step up a division.
  22. 5 mins after every 4 heats is very reasonable. Toilet break, food or drink etc etc. With intervals everyone does all these at once and queues get ridiculous sometimes. Ending up missing a heat or 2 because of. Also when TV is in town there is then no need to change an already set schedule. 4mins is plenty of time from 1 heat to the next. 2mins, race, lap of honour then 2mins. If everything runs perfect a meeting can be done in 80mins. Allowing for other factors in a meeting would take it to around 90-100mins. All very reasonable. Meeting today are still unnecessarily dragged out, quite a bit caused by the rider's themselves with 2-3 of gardening. Then when an anomaly crops up meetings are over 2 hours and becomes a drag for everyone. That then becomes unacceptable. Even with things like tape touching/breaking the 2 mins should be straight on and rider's at the start. Even if the tapes ain't completely fixed. All the time given for 2 on the trot is unnecessary. There has to be a much tighter schedule for British Speedway, like I said, when an anomaly comes along people would still leave meetings at a reasonable time. I'd even make it rule that no meetings are allowed to run past 10pm regardless. And with the original post of this thread, no to 2nd halves. About a quarter of the attendances would watch. No point adding extra costs to an evening for about 100-200 folk.
  23. I don't think that's true at all. Many today are just fed up of the constant standing about with nothing happening and meaningless chit chat from the centre green. What's required is for the race to be finished and on with the next one. Families would most certainly be happy to be over and done with within at least 60-80mins
  24. I'm highly critical of the management team at King's Lynn BUT:- Esbjerg have done this a few times in 2018 and Iversen has been at King's Lynn. We'll just have to wait and see but imo Denmark has every right to call the shots whenever they feel like it on a Wednesday.
