Is It Finally Time For One League?
Daniel Smith replied to TheSmiler's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
British Speedway is in far to much of a pickle to make "1 Big League" work. Even 4 man teams would be a stretch, as far to many riders won't want to be available for weekend matches. They all want to be available to the paymasters of Poland. -
Does it though? Not read the article but progress is not all about speed & heat times. Without stats obviously but I'd argue that engine reliability is 75% better than 40 years ago. Back in the day you'd have a couple of engines go pop a meeting, now, you'd be surprised to see one go pop in a month. Engines now are properly on a par with with 80s tuned engines straight out the box. Apart from engines, what progress is there to be had as frames / wheels etc are "improved" materials?? Bear in mind that race times are equal to or slower purely because of less material on the race surface

King's Lynn Stars 2025
Daniel Smith replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The sicknote is for & approved by British Speedway only. Available everywhere else. Nothing to see here............. -
The form of Iversen is clearly the reason imo. At No5 they'll just be hoping Klindt can score 5+. Iversen is usually half decent (if memory is correct) around the NSS so will be hoping for double figures vs weaker rider's. Lyon is trying to find the gaps in the team to cover off the possible injury to Kvech at No6. If Kvech scores double figures then I feel 40+ points is possible with this riding order, even if Bewley & Kurtz go through the card. What may let King's Lynn down will be too many last places.

Sheffield v King's Lynn 19/6/25

You can look at tacticals, riding order etc etc. For me, I'm looking at Iversen. 5 points from his last 2 meetings. What's happening there?? 2 points from someone of his experience is abysmal. -

No Pickering & this heatwave will absolutely hamper track prep, could swing this King's Lynn's way I'm feeling. -
Also, the 2 Luke's success has helped push through the Premier League Darts prize money double for 2026.

The turning point is clearly Doyle's withdrawal. Terrific win again by the Stars but just wish it could have been done with all 7 Witches available. We're no really seeing the strength of this team vs full strength sides but that's Speedway I suppose. Top 4 is back on for the Stars but they really really need to find a No1. With the season not starting so hot for Robert Lambert, could he be tempted back earlier than August/September 🤔

King's Lynn Stars 2025
Daniel Smith replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A what point does the finger need to stop being pointed at riders though?? There is a running theme at King's Lynn of struggling to hang on to rider's throughout a season. It's happening season in, season out. The running of British Speedway overall is appalling also. Because of the tight restrictions on team building, rider's can't build any loyalty to clubs so they're not given the opportunity to care. -
Definitely advantage Ipswich now as King's Lynn can't pull the tactical injury at No7 as Jody Scott will have to have 4 rides minimum on home debut. It is a disaster for the home side that no guest is available but fingers crossed to the young lad & he has a blinder. 4+ points will be a dream start for the lad🤞🏻

Is there anyone who doesn’t admire Zmarzlik?? Maybe like myself, it's more of a frustration with everyone else. As I've said many times, everyone seems too soft on the guy. 9 out 10 times he passes without being challenged. When he misses a gate he'll get up the inside of someone & force his way past. Often squeezing opposition up against the fence. Absolutely nobody ever seems to return the favour on him. Absolutely, 100%, if Zmarzlik was in the era of Crump, Pedersen, Gollob etc they'd make sure he would be chewing on airfence occasionally. He is a gifted lad, but all everyone wants is a challenger &/or a rivalry. May be we force a reduction in the age of rider's in the series, if you're over 35 & not top 6 they can't get a wildcard?? Top 3 of the SGP2 series qualify?? Top 5 U25's from the Polish Ekstraliga automatically qualify for the SGP?? There must be some young, fast, loose cannons out there that can shake up the series?? Absolutely need to shake up the system in some way. We're just getting to much same old, same old qualifying from the GP Challenge, & wildcard picks. Think most fans want to see a complete shake up of the SGP Series in some way, shape or form.

Every match would just be at Belle Vue. Any meeting anywhere else isn't worth screening. I cancelled TNT after the football Champions League semi's. I've no interest in live Speedway on TV right now. The Premiership & SGP's have been nothing short of horrific, can't justify the £30 each month. Even saying my first sentence, I just feel the Belle Vue SGP double header becoming a farce, just have that feeling.

I agree, but sometimes "what goes around, comes around" is justified for some. Saying that though, with the state of British Speedway today, if the weather is predicted to rain, postponements should be made prior to match day. Expenses to club & rider has to be protected, plus, more importantly, the costs to all the volunteers & any travelling fans whether it's 1 guy & his dog or 100. In 2025, people just don't have the patience or affordability to be at stadiums watching track work for an hour only to be sent home anyway. These things are far more damaging than any early postponement for everyone involved.
