2016 Swc Semi's And Final 29/30/july 2016
John Leslie replied to hyderd's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Is it the same referee for the final as the race-off? Programme covers both meetings but only lists the one referee some presume it's the same one?. (Then again the programme was such a cock-up you can't trust it for anything). -
2016 Swc Semi's And Final 29/30/july 2016

Track was too good, hence the ultra-fast times and track records. It was consistent and grippy all over. It needs to be made slicker on the inside and slicker going into turns 1 and 3. It should be only be very grippy on the outside and coming out of turns 2 and 4. The Elite League and National League meetings have provided consistently good racing all year....then the FIM come along... The big temporary stand on the 3rd/4th bend really complete the stadium.....It's going to be a superb atmosphere when it's packed out tonight. Worst thing was the terrible £10 programme which was a rip-off. If charging £10 for a programme they could at least bother to proof-read it. Full of mistakes. What exactly is racing "Caster"? Is it like Castor? No space for race times. When there's a tactical substitute you're trying to write the scores in a black square. Last 4 heats badly laid out. Racecard says in the event of a tie it goes on countback, but we were told that if Aussie and Denmark had tied it would have been a run-off. -

Should Greg Hancock Ride For Usa?
John Leslie replied to John Leslie's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes there is. Broc Nicol replacing Ricky Wells and Luke Becker replacing Hancock. Lance King has said it is "typical of Greg" ...which is a comment you could take 2 ways. -
Looks like Greg Hancock isn't riding for USA tonight as he can't be arsed bringing bikes over for one meeting wants to let a younger rider get the experience. Thank god GB have got a loyal leader like Tai Woffinden and not someone who lets the fans down like Hancock.

I think Robert72 is Nicki Pedersen. He's been trying to unsettle the GB team with his lunatic anti-Tai posts, but now Hans Nielsen won't let him out to play and he's lost interest. -
It's not often you get a chance to agree with Shovvy, so I thought I'd take the opportunity here. I've seen the disabled facilities in action at Belle Vue and they're excellent (like all new built stadia have to be now). Close parking, flat access, lifts, stairlifts, everything....and what a nice touch that one of the people looking after the hospitality is Garry Stead. Now onto the SWC... it's been quite obvious for some time that it will be a sell out. I bought my tickets at christmas and made my travel plans weeks ago. If it's a sell out, it's a sell out. It doesn't matter if 9,000 of the 10,000 tickets have disabled access...if you leave it too late and they've all gone, it's too late. If you're the 10,001st person wanting a ticket, then tough - you should have sorted yourself out earlier. If there's 2,000 disabled parking spaces, it's no use being 2,001. If there's only 5 spaces, it's no use being No.6

Ah right, I don't follow twitter. I presumed someone had made that bit up to enrage the resident troll.

A lot of people seem to be going off on one here, but where exactly have Alun Rossiter/BSPA/SCB actually said there was a team GB practise session yesterday? I'm not even sure that any teams are allowed to hold a practise session on any of the SWC tracks once the competition has started. The Worrall's and Craig Cook do often turn up at Belle Vue midweek for a practice, so it's no surprise if they have done so yesterday. Maybe the Belle Vue management made an open invitation for any of the GB riders to pop along too. My guess would be that it was a case of some GB riders taking advantage of an invitation (and full credit to them if so) rather than it being other riders shunning an official practise session. Yet people like to jump on a bandwagon. It's like when someone joked that Woffinden couldn't make practice because he was having a tattoo done. Now that joke remark is being taken as fact!

I doubt he's ever fallen from a speedway bike, as he's never been on one. But I do feel sure that he's had more blows to the head than are healthy for a normal person. -

One day Jerran Hart will be released from prison. Why not try holding your breath? -
Not a fan of Rossiter at all, but can't fault the team. He's definitely picked the correct 4. It's now over to the riders to perform, and the BSPA to make sure we get every possible advantage out of being the home nation in terms of preparation for the meeting.

He's probably Rob, Painter & Decorator. -
At least they got to the right decision in the end. Can't help thinking that it's only because of the amount of complaining from supporters and other clubs that they've finally put the decision right. Shame they didn't get it right in the first place, but with Mr Morrish involved what do you expect.

Woffinden and Lambert are definites. Don't think anyone has left them out of their preferred selection (well, maybe just one mentally challenged looney). Reserve is a straightforward choice between Ellis and Bates. If it comes down to using the reserve we're stuffed anyway. So I'd go for Bates as he's more likely to throw caution to the wind and have a go if the chips are down. Cook is a good gater which is needed at this level, and when his machinery is dialled in there is no one quicker around BV. Surely we will be making sure all our team's machinery is dialled in, so he must be in there. Last place is between Harris, Nicholls, King and Worrall. Any of whom could have a good meeting or a bad one. Worrall is joint-track-record holder I believe, but if Rosco picks him and he has a bad meeting everyone will ask why did he pick Worrall instead of a more experienced rider. So Worrall is too big a risk for Rosco. Nicholls seems off-form recently, and with age against him I discount him too. That leaves Harris or King, and judging by the British Final and British GP, I think King has to get the nod. So my team would be Woffinden, Lambert, Cook, King, Bates
