Or conversation may also go something like: Mick: Ben, I'd like to offer you a 2013 team spot and I'm willing to offer you £xxx per point. Ben: That's great Mick, you've got yourself a deal. Graham Drury: Ben, Good news Birmingham have changed their race night so I can get you in the team after all. Ben: Oh bugger, I've already agreed to ride for Coventry Graham Drury: Oh dear, have you actually got anything in writing? Did you sign anything? Ben: No. I just agreed it verbally. Graham Drury: OK, well just deny everything. Say you never agreed, you were just thinking about it. Of course I'm not suggesting anyone would do anything dishonest like that, but you invented a hypothetical conversation. I'm just demonstrating how easy it is to make up a different hypothetical conversation

erm...keep up...They're Peterborough assets. Seems Peterborough have offered contracts to at least 5 riders of which they can only accommodate 2. I'm questioning why someone would do this and how they would fulfill the contracts if all the riders accepted. By your pathetic reply, I guess you don't know the answer.
-
Perhaps Kenneth Bjerre, Linus Sundstrom, Hans Andersen, Troy Batchelor, Neils Iversen et al, should all accept the Peterborough contracts and sue them for breach of contract when Peterborough can't fulfill them?

Pascal Swart - Available For Nl Team Place
John Leslie replied to SarahLapworth's topic in National League Speedway
If the lad has a British parent I don't see any problem at all in him seeking out a NL team place. It's only the same as the likes of Nick Morris etc, who quite rightly were able to ride NL. In fact a half-Dutch/half English rider could be considered a better option than a half-Aussie/half English rider, because if he became any good (admittedly unlikely) then he would more likely choose to ride for Britain than the practically non-existent Dutch World Cup squad. What I would totally object to though is a Dutchman coming over on a 2-week adventure holiday and riding in our AJL, MDL or the Northern youth thing. The junior youth development leagues should be for British riders only. It would be absolutely disgraceful if some foreign-based half-British rider came over here for a two week holiday, and a young local Brit was booted out of his Youth league place to allow the foreigner to play at speedway during his 2 week holiday before disappearing back to his foreign home. After the 2 week holiday is over and the foreigner was back home, some British kid would be expected to fill the place. A british kid who should have had the team spot in the first place. -
I see Coventry are up to their old tricks again, stealing someone else's copyright identity just as they did when they replaced the famous fighting bee with the stolen comedy hornet. http://www.district112foundation.org/Images/StormTransparent.gif http://www.coventrybees.co/images/newspost_images2/coventry_storm.jpg

I'm surprised the catholic church hasn't objected to the Plymouth nickname too. Maybe a change to the Plymouth Pontifs would be wise? On the subject of the last two signings, you would have a good one IF you landed Gino. I have contacts in US speedway, and I have no doubts whatsoever that Gino has the talent and enthusiasm to do a job in PL. The only thing I would question is whether he could get good enough equipment and a suitable back-up team together in the short space of 3 months. I like the look of the Plymouth team so far, and if the last two signings are good, I can see them more in the top half of the table than the bottom

Kent Bishops? What team is going to admit to wanting to go down to Kent to bash the Bishops?

Mdlc Countdown Begins
John Leslie replied to Main Man's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
I would imagine rider No.17 is actually David Holt the Belle Vue rider, and not Dan Holt the referee!! -
Considering that he's doing well enough in PL, I'm surprised that Joe Haines is willing to put the extra strain of NL racing on his equipment for the £10 a point that he is getting paid.

World Cup Final 14th July
John Leslie replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
you really are posting some nonsense. Crump had to win heat 20 to have a chance of winning the title. He almost hit a back wheel on the second corner, and then gave everything to catch Iversen, even though it was almost certainly going to be impossible task to overhaul Iversen plus one more.....you couldn't see that? You sound like you've never been to a Speedway meeting. -
World Cup Final 14th July
John Leslie replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
How ridiculous indeed. You contradicted yourself in one line. First you say of course Crump was racing, then you say he wasn't. Pedersen was racing for the same place that Crump was. As a purist I don't like the Joker. But whilst the joker does exist and everyone knows the rules. A tactical joker requires use of tactics and both riders knew what the required tactics were. Crump thought by not racing Pedersen, he had the tactical advantage. Pedersen mugged him. -
World Cup Final 14th July
John Leslie replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Don't you be silly. You said Pedersen should be excluded for not racing. But it was Crump who wasn't racing for 4 laps, he was just sitting behind Pedersen, and got mugged on the last corner when Pedersen also decided not to race flat out either. So if we're excluding riders for not racing Crump would have to be excluded too -
World Cup Final 14th July
John Leslie replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In that case Crump should also be excluded, because he was clearly on instructions to sit in behind Pedersen, just as Pedersen was on instructions to finish behind Crump -
World Cup Race Off 12 July
John Leslie replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Makes you wonder why he doesn't make the 2nd bike his 1st bike..... then again you don't really want the machine examiner getting too close to it before the meeting... -
Kings Lynn World Cup 9 July
John Leslie replied to steve19620's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Saturday's meeting was good, but last night was the best meeting I've seen in a long time. The GB boys seemed really up for it and couldn't have given any more. Australia similarly were giving it everything. There was even good racing from Ales Dryml and the Czechs and Smolinski. Full credit to King's Lynn for a terrific meeting. Anyone who thinks another track could provide a better meeting than that is talking nonsense. Peterborough is good, Poole is average, but King's Lynn is the best. Somerset can rival Lynn for racing, but doesn't have the capacity or facilities. Lets hope the new Belle Vue (based on old Hyde Road and some top Polish tracks) can give us something to match King's Lynn for the 2013 final. Personally, rather than the race-off and final be held at the same track, I'd like to see the race-off at King's Lynn before the big final at Belle Vue. Only downsides to last night were the abysmal referee and the silly joker rule. So onto the race-off. Sadly I don't see GB doing it against Denmark and Poland at Mallila, but if they show the same determination as last night, who knows. -
It means they're not eligible to guest in the PL as a 3.00 NL rider.

Halifax Withdraw From Mdl + Njl
John Leslie replied to Main Man's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Why was it called off? Seems a bit silly to close a club mid-meeting. If all the riders had travelled to be there surely it would make sense to let them ride and close the club the next day, rather than disappoint riders who may have travelled a long way to ride. -
Your source can't spell. Anyway everyone knows the ex-Poole rider in talks is Lindback...or Jason Lyons
-
If what he said was "Not true" why have you concluded by agreeing with him that someone riding at No.5 will pick up less bonus points than someone at No.3 or 4?
-
Matt Ford getting loads of publicity out of naming several riders who have supposedly turned Poole down before finally admitting that he had a done deal with Lindback all along?
