  1. It says India on my car tyres, but they ain't going there.
  2. Speedway riders aren't employees, they're self-employed. They bring their own tools and do a specific contracted job. The BSPA could chose to give priority to a self-employed British rider, just as I could chose to get my boiler fixed by the self-employed plumber who lives in the next street, rather than call in a plumber from miles away.
  3. You will find that if you take a large enough sample of matches, it tends towards there being an average of 10 bonus points in any 15 heat match, regardless of track or teams. The number of bonus points is more to do with statistical probability than track shape or team make-up
  4. What's to stop 10 existing subscribers joining together, buying just one online subscription, and sharing it via email with the other 9?
  5. Does he pay anything for the rights to British Speedway though? Or is he just a broker working on a commission? Could (say) a professional sports sponsorship company just decide to have a go at negotiating with ITV4 off their own bat, and just claim a commission if successful? Or do the Russells have some kind of stranglehold over the sport that would stop another party coming in and doing the same thing that they do on a level playing field basis?
  6. I think there's a world of difference between filming in an indoor theatre and covering people moving about a small stage with its own lighting, to mounting an outside broadcast on a dull evening covering something the size of a speedway track and pits with bikes moving at 60mph, and then having to move on to another track at the other end of the country for the next broadcast. I'm not saying its impossible, and I agree that the costs of doing such things are cheaper than ever nowadays, but there still are costs involved, and I doubt that subscription uptake could ever be enough to cover the costs and return a decent profit ELRC at Swindon
  7. Give us some numbers then. Let's assume the mixing deck, cameras, equipment and other capital outlay are within reasonable financial reach (or can be provided by the cameramen themselves). What would you estimate the running costs at for hiring cameramen, engineer, producer, director etc, plus unlimited bandwidth fees for a server, and any other expenses. Either on a per match basis, or a per week basis (assuming 2 matches per week over a 28 week season)
  8. I can't see how the figures would stack up. Let's look at the EL. Say 150 people at each of the 10 tracks signed up to pay £15 a month over a 7 month season.... That's £157,500 .... or £131,250 net of VAT Then we've got to pay 2 or 3 cameramen, a commentator, whoever's going to mix it together, and all the associated running costs and software, websites hosting etc....are we going to get any change out of £50k or £60k for that? So that takes us down to £70k or £80k.....divided up between the 10 tracks is £7k or £8k each. From that £7k or £8k annual windfall you've got to deduct the amount of lost turnstile revenue from any people who might stay at home to watch the webcast rather than go to the match. (and I haven't even allowed for the capital outlay of buying cameras and equipment, nor Terry the Tan's 20% kickback).
  9. I much prefer the idea of Rosco getting his monocle on and studying the contracts
  10. Not far enough behind to use a T/R. And if they fall any further behind it will be over before they get to T/R. Only way Brum can win is with 5-0s
  11. He's being paid by Sky but he's saying to people "Just watch the first hour of Sky Speedway, and then turn over to a rival channel and watch football" Wonder if Adrian Chiles will do an advert saying "Why not watch all the Speedway on Sky....you can still catch some of the football second half on ITV afterwards"?
  12. Disgraceful. It never rained in the 1930s. Must be Woffinden's fault!
  13. We used to regard black people as being a low intelligence inferior race too. As late as the 1930's when Jesse Owens returned to the USA for a welcome home ceremony with the president, he had to enter the hotel by the back door and use the goods lift. If the USA still operated like that, the president would have to use the goods lift. Such outdated bigotry is in the past.....only a numpty would bring ancient history, and his outdated prejudices, into a thread about about our well deserved world champion who has already given speedway considerable amounts of publicity just 7 days into his reign, and will hopefully continue to be a fine ambassador for the sport well into the future
  14. Looks like you already have. Why aren't you at Alwalton with lover boy Kennykins? Have you been grounded?
  15. Why does it have to be a stereotypical "Jack & Jill"? Why can't it be Jack and Jeffrey if he feels that way inclined? #Homophobe!
  16. I don't blame anybody. It's what all the young kids are doing these days
  17. I believe we are supposed to call them "Ethnic minority Jacks" now in the new all P.C. forum.
  18. Ever heard the phrase "when you're in a hole stop digging"? Yes, I compared Tai's tattoos to some other very famous sporting tattoos. You bizarrely then invented a world individual football championship which you said David Beckham hadn't won. ...but so far amongst your rambling nonsense you still haven't been able to shed any light on this world individual football championship which you created, nor have you listed the winners....some folk might think you're a bit bonkers
  19. I'm still waiting for you to help me out with the names of these untattooed people better than Beckham who have won this mysterious World Individual Football championship. Can you list, say, the last 10 winners? Otherwise people might think you are posting complete and utter nonsense.
  20. Hope not! Tai was on BBC Breakfast on Wednesday. Back over to Lorraine Kelly on Thursday morning!
  21. I agree. Because of his tattoos, David Beckham will never be a great sportsman, like all those World individual football champions such as....erm....erm.....help me out with a few names here Gus lad
