Belle Vue - Eastbourne Double Header Sep 15th
John Leslie replied to krompa's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Remember when the details of the draft pick were first revealed? They said the draft riders would be allocated taking into account geographic location. That would have put Jason Garrity and Steve Worrall at BV, and you'd have won the league by now. -
I was just going to say the same thing. Some of those NIMBY complaints are clearly dowright lies. And the report even admits that many of the complaints are due to a flyer which had been sent out full of lies. Don't think Kent have done themselves any favours by not complying with the acoustic barrier, but they also have a bit of history in winning appeals for extra concessions against the planning officers recommendation. incidentally, how did they run last night's meeting which didn't start until 7pm and can't have finished before 9pm?

You may joke, but someone went on Dragons' Den with this very invention a series or so ago. The urinal was connected to a video game which was then controlled by the speed and direction of your pee. (i'm not joking) Imagine that. You could go into the bog, log-on to the Chris Harris app, make him go faster, and pee on Nicki Pedersen at the same time! http://www.dailydooh.com/archives/73524 -

What makes you think the prospective promoter doesn't have an involvement in another club? -

John Leslie replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes. No one will be racing across the centre green at the new stadium...pretty much the same as now, where no one would race across the centre green at Kirky Lane (although that's mainly for fear of falling into the deep puddles and craters caused by stock cars) -

The Stock Cars stay at the dog track. They can't run at the new stadium because of the 3G astroturf centre green -

But St George's Park is the National Football Centre and that isn't the biggest stadium in the country nor located in the capital. Damn that F.A. with their wrong misleading names! -

So the FA National training centre at Burton has the wrong name? The National Tennis centre at Roehampton has the wrong name? -
Belle Vue National Stadium
John Leslie replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It's not the naming that's a mistake. It's people misunderstanding it. After all, the England football team play their home matches at Wembley, not at the National Football Centre in Burton-on-Trent The British Open Tennis is played at Wimbledon, not at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton. So why would anyone think that the National Speedway Stadium should only be something which must rival the Cardiff G.P.? What we will have is a state-of-the-art stadium which is more than adequate to host the largest EL crowds; with National training facilities, track-based, classroom-based, and workshop based; access to a massive sports science institute being built just a mile down the road; and capability to be temporarily expanded to host a world cup crowd. It's not meant to take the British G.P. away from Cardiff any more that St.George's Park is meant to take the England football matches away from Wembley. We should celebrate safeguarding the future of a historic club that had no future at its current base, and developing something modern for training future British riders. Now, where can we move onto for the next project to upgrade to a moden stadium in a city centre location? if Belle Vue can do it why can't another club... -

great news for British Speedway, and of course all those up at Belle Vue, to see this final official hurdle crossed. -
The league points scoring system is one of the best new rules we've had. It does the job of rewarding effort, and keeping the majority of matches alive until the end. The only thing I would do, is to do away with the 4th point for an away win by more than 6 points. There should be three points per match - scrap the 4th point, it serves no purpose in keeping a match close. It should be:- Home team wins by more than 6 - Home 3 Away 0 Home team wins by less than 6 - Home 2 Away 1 Draw - Home 1 Away 2 Away win - Home 0 Away 3 Easy to understand. The home team has to win by more than 6 to get all points, the away team only has to win to get all points. The possibilities in between explain themselves. I would also do away with or radically alter the tactical double joker. The only thing dafter than a tactical double joker in British Speedway is a tactical double joker in the world cup.

Belle Vue National Stadium

Some people must have very sad lives. I just can't understand those who want to whinge and moan, and revel in gloom and doom. There are actually people on here who seem to have taken delight in watching the likes of Exeter, Reading and Oxford close, and are still getting their kicks out of potential threats to Coventry and Mildenhall. On the plus side it must really hurt them to see that some of the best speedway racing today is seen at new built stadiums like Scunthorpe and Somerset, whilst the newly build Leicester is an excellent facility which just needs track alterations so that the quality of racing can match the quality of the stadium. A yes vote from Manchester council this afternoon will see another little part of these sad cases die. -

What's the betting that the SCB ban helmet cams next, because they're making incompetent referees look incompetent? -
Most Bizarre Exclusions......
John Leslie replied to Sings4Speedway's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There was a bizarre one at Stoke on Saturday all captured on Luke Priest's helmet cam. Priest in yellow is leading, Jon Armstrong in red tries to go under him, gets it wrong and knocks Priest off. You then see Armstrong come over to Priest and apologise. Priest rides back into the pits (helmet cam still on) to hear that James Cockle in white (who had nothing to do with the crash) is excluded. The Clerk of the Course is on the phone explaining that the rider in white wasn't even involved. The referee changes his mind and excludes Priest....Priest walks out to the start line where people are already shouting at the ref. Imagine you went to a shop to buy a widget for £10, and the shop has an offer of 2 for £15, so you buy two. But then you find you don't use the second one or it's faulty, so you take it back. The shop aren't going to give you £10 back. They'll either replace it with a similar one, or give you £5 back. That's exactly what's happened here. The refund is spot on.

Yes. I don't like it.

Maybe Darcy was having a quiet lemonade and a steak pie, but the Latvian waiter's English wasn't very good and he gave him the Steak & Ale pie by mistake?

Rye House V Redcar 30/7
John Leslie replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I've long said no one should be allowed to drop below their initial assessed average. If a novice comes in on an assessed 3.00 his average can never drop below 3.00, so if an experienced international comes in on an assessed 7.00 he should never drop below 7.00 no one should ever come in on 7.00, ride a handful of crap matches and then start stealing the job of a 3.00 kid.
