  1. looks like for the next 5 years everyone in Europe will have to get up at about 4am to see the world champion crowned
  2. Can only think of Peter Bailey. Rode mainly for Ipswich, but also Coventry. Think he was killed in a road traffic accident outside Brandon stadium(?)
  3. Just a suggestion, but for the G.P. on telly tonight Eurosport always try to encourage twitter participation with their #AskScott thing on twitter. Could be good publicity to #AskScott if he'll support the campaign to save Brandon from any potential planning application from developers. Good publicity for your campaign on TV.
  4. This is spot on. Don't go giving up on Brandon. The "let him knock down Brandon and he might build a new stadium elsewhere" idea is a non-starter. Speedway fans need to throw everything into saving Brandon. Get it designated a conservation area, get any protection possible. Make sure it's made clear to Sandhu that he can never gain permission for housing. The save Brandon campaign seems to have some powerful allies....get these councillors and MPs working for you. Make sure Sundhu's meeting is packed full of pro-stadium people and get the media onside.
  5. Happens to me every year. You get a letter saying after the next issue there's 4 copies left. By the time those 5 weeks have passed you've forgotten about it, and then instead of chasing you for renewal, they just stop sending it. I always notice when it doesn't arrive for a week or two, and then have to phone up to start another subscription, but I bet a lot of people just don't bother. Seems crazy to just let customers drift away when they probably would have been willing to resubscribe.
  6. Apart from the fact that the meeting was postponed last night and has been rearranged for Weds 15 October, what exactly is there about the Poole v King's Lynn play-off semi-final that you don't know and want to know?
  7. How are Torun and Gorzow going to produce the next British world Champion? They're in Poland. How are we going to train British kids at Gorzow or Torun? They're never going to match the new National stadium. Your post is about as silly as saying Wayne Rooney will never be able to play for Cameroon.
  8. The fans aren't governed by SCB regulations. What are the SCB going to do? Ban the fans for 12 months? I'm surprised that Danny Phillips' ban and fine is greater than Sarjent's and the same as Greaves'. I wasn't there, but from what I've read Phillips seems to have been a bit part player to the main protagonists
  9. Nothing on today. Should be a meeting at Poole tomorrow. Depends whether Matt Ford fancies his chances of winning when he sees the full line-ups. If he doesn't, the meeting could be off due to plague of locusts, rainstorm of frogs, etc etc
  10. The first diggers and materials have arrived on site http://www.bellevueaces.co/newsitem.aspx?id=1274
  11. Don't worry. She's wipe-clean PVC isn't she?
  12. Why did Swindon cover the track and do everything possible to get the meeting on, whereas Poole left the track uncovered and did everything possible to get the meeting off? Do any team stand to benefit from getting the meeting put back to a later date?
  13. Muddlo: "We pretended we had a little shower at 4pm, so we'd have to take the top layer off, but we 'accidentally' dug too deep on the first bend and made a big hole that's now unsafe. It's like when Belle Vue turned a tap on on their first bend. It's what all the young promoters are doing these days"
  14. Same old Poole always cheating. Should they be banned from calling off a meeting for 2 years without an SCB referee inspecting it first?
  15. I just want to tell you King's Lynn, good luck. We're all counting on you.
  16. The updates site had both teams wrong. Think they just took a guess. They've put it right now.
  17. Switch Simon Lambert up to No.1 and move Benji Compton down to No.5 and you'll have it spot on. As FalconHammer says, Joe Jacobs in at No.1 for Coventry and R/R for Nielsen at No.3
  18. If you're drunk and sat in your car you will be charged with being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle regardless of whether you've actually driven anywhere or not. Darcy Ward has obviously signed in to a GP meeting, attended a riders' briefing, had his name pulled out for an alcohol test, and failed. His intent to ride in a GP while under the influence of alcohol should be punished the same regardless of whether he actually rode or was stopped from riding.
  19. I think you've got it spot on SCB. I've seen quite a bit of all 3 of these lads, and whilst I can't claim to be a close friend of any of them, I'd say I know enough to say they are decent lads, and this behaviour seems out of character. (If I was drawing up a list of riders likely to cause trouble, they'd all be very low on the list - Danny Phillips probably at the bottom). It seems to me they've been caught up on the heat of the moment, and sadly that aggresiveness that seems to often accompany Cradley matches. I'd also suggest that the behaviour of some adults involved may have been worse than these 3 youngsters. A big fine wouldn't be right for riders who earn very little. A ban would be over-harsh. A strong reprimand and a ban suspended for a year would seem to be correct, and they would be left in no doubt that any similar behaviour in future will mean an immediate ban.
  20. I think they'll easily get a double header in by 10.30pm, but the Sky listings have the match 7pm-10pm, and I think that could be a bit tight and will overrun 10 mins or so.
  21. Like I said, it was Coventry's date and they were listed first. King's Lynn were added as a second match to make a double-header. But common-sense seems to have attacked the BSPA and it's been switched round so that the more important match is run first. (However I still wouldn't be surprised if everyone turns up to find a referee insisting that Coventry has to be run first because it's the first page in the programme and he doesn't want to turn back for match 2 and smudge his writing)
  22. Coventry had the date first and King's Lynn were added to make it a double header, so they were listed second. But since the Coventry match makes no difference to league placings, but the King's Lynn one will decide first and second in the league, I would guess that the BSPA and the 3 teams involved agreed to run the important one first. Possibly a rare example of the BSPA using common-sense? Though I expect some will complain about it for no reason.
  23. Going to be like watching the same team twice, as Harris and Andersen are both guesting for King's Lynn before racing for Coventry, and Max Clegg is guesting for both King's Lynn and Coventry!
  24. From what I've heard, Belle Vue had two available dates - Wednesday just gone, and Monday coming. As the King's Lynn match is more important they were given Wednesday, and Coventry given next Monday. (makes sense because if Wednesday had been rained off it could still be rearranged for Monday). Then Lynn realised they would have been without Kenneth Bjerre on Wednesday due to Danish(?) play-offs, so they decided they didn't want to go. With Lynn refusing to go on Wednesday, the only option was to make a double-header after the Coventry match on Monday. king's Lynn would presumably have used Harris in a single match, but now as a double header they wouldn't want to run the risk of anything going wrong with Harris in the Coventry match and losing their guest.
