If the BSPA have a vote on scrapping double points tac subs or not, then surely the majority vote wins? And if we've got the same teams in the EL and PL as last year, assuming they vote the same way as last year nothing changes. So what difference does it make if Keith Chapman or Alex Harkess is chairman? If the clubs have equal votes and the majority wins, why would a change of chairman make any significant difference? Surely a vote in late October under Alex Harkess will produce the same result as a vote in early November under Keith Chapman?

I'll translate that for you Gemini... It really means "Thank you for answering my question. I realise it was a very stupid question, as any fool could see which bits Humphrey had added. However I was being an awkward troll and already knew the answer"

Isle Of Wight - Latest News?
John Leslie replied to coventry1963's topic in National League Speedway
Are things still on track for an Isle of Wight return to the NL? I see their shockingly bad website says that "Martin Widman and BArru Bishop" (sic) recently met with the BSPA to give notice of their intent to join the 2016 NL. So is everything in order? (apart from the website obviously) -

Guess a lot will depend on whether Belle Vue, Isle of Wight and any others get accepted into the NL And whether Cradley and any others drop out. Aren't we at least another month away from finding out at the AGM?

All Party Parliamentary Group For Speedway
John Leslie replied to New Science's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Quite right. I know the current Father of the House Gerald Kaufman has been a big supporter of Belle Vue, which is in his constituency, both in the battle for survival after Hyde Road and in the planning of the new national stadium. And Coventry need their local politicians more than ever to stop Brandon falling and being replaced by houses. -
eh? Jason Doyle will be in demand because the points limit is too high! It's a good job some fans aren't on the BSPA committee

A Way Forward For National League Racing?
John Leslie replied to Electric6's topic in National League Speedway
Sorry, but your idea is quite barmy. No they wouldn't. You're proposing a 4TT so every club gets 3 times as many away meetings as home ones. Financially 4TTs are a disaster as you have to pay your riders for 3 away meetings out of just 1 home gate. You're proposing 16 heats instead of 15 so more costs. you're proposing 20 riders instead of 14 per meeting, so more costs. 4TTs don't provide team racing. You would ride oponents an unequal amount of times, and it would be riding the same opponents around 10 times per season. quite mad! -
That's got to be a wind up. Sarjeant and Bates? When Wolves have Howarth and Clegg? Somebody definitely trying to wind you up.

Swindon say the have Charles Wright as one of their reserve and are "studying the averages and rider availability" for the other reserve berth....So has there been a draft or is it just a free for all?
-
Gustix is. Not sure about the prganosation.

Can you get them on the National Health?
-
As today is to ratify the rules, and rumour has it that the likes of Ben Barker, Richie Worrall, Kyle Howarth etc could be added to the draft, I reckon there could still be a fair bit of arguing to do today before they can even consider doing the draft picks

Louis Walsh has just paid £20k to be a guest judge at an x-factor dress rehearsal.
-
Don't know. It could be today for all I know.
-
I'd rather take a bet that neither list is published. I imagine they'll publish the FTR list on the day that the draft takes place, but can't see the heat leader list being published at all.

Think the Elite League actually had to reduce to 36 points. But at the 1.5 conversion rate at the time this equated to approx 54 PL points against PL teams with averages of 42ish

But it's not. The nominations are chosen by a BBC panel, not the public. The public only get to chose from the shortlist at the end. The chances of getting Tai on the shortlist are slim to none. Though that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. If enough fans bombard the BBC panel and make them aware of Tai, it can only do good. I doubt there's any chance of him reaching the shortlist, but he probably will get a 5 second mention in "our other British world champions". If we can raise awareness of his achievements (including charity work) we might get that up to a 30 second mention....and 30 seconds of primetime BBC is quite valuable.
