  1. Woffinden and Cook are nailed on certainties. Lambert not far behind. The reserve berth doesn't really mean much, but the best U-21 we could pick is Adam Ellis. It's just the 4th spot that's tricky.... King, Nicholls, Harris, Garrity, the Woralls could all come into contention, but I think I'd give it to King.
  2. Just a slight correction to that. It's the A57(M) Mancunian Way which is closed, not the A57 (Hyde Road). It's causing absolute chaos all around the city centre and on all roads in and out of the city centre
  3. Of course he's entitled to his opinion. I'm just giving a bit of background as to why his opinion changed overnight. Why did he think the sport was great one day, but he was making bitter posts about how bad the sport is the next day? Did the sport massively change in the space of 24 hours? No....but it was the day his free entry stopped....maybe that's what made him so bitter.
  4. What you've got to take into account is the context and reason for the comments. You see, Alan...Ooops I mean Moxey...used to write a programme column for a club and he got in for free because of this. And all was good with the sport. Then there were changes to the match programme and Moxey's column was no longer needed, and he was told he would have to pay to get in. Poor Moxey spat his dummy and refused to go and pay at the turnstiles like lesser mortals do. Suddenly his opinion of the sport changed completely, and everything which was good immediately became bad overnight. But it wasn't the sport that changed overnight, it was him. And even though the promoter who stopped his column is no longer promoting, Moxey still continues his boring bitter rants.
  5. Stoke's racenight is Saturday, so Buxton have priority over Sunday afternoons. Seems very odd that they'd choose to push back their normal start time til 6pm especially as they have no floodlights. It could be going very dull up there by 7.30 if it's a murky day.
  6. Why are Buxton riding at 6pm on a Sunday?
  7. If it was Ivan Mauger, Peter Collins, Sam Ermolenko, Tony Rickardsson, Jason Crump, they might. But probably less satifying if it's someone who rode at reserve at Long Eaton in 1979... (No disrespect to whoever were the reserves at Long Eaton in 1979)
  8. You can't just let every rider who's thrown his leg over a bike come in every week for free. Places like Coventry and Belle Vue who have a long history would just be packed with ex-riders. I wouldn't expect riders who have legendary status to be paying, and I'm sure if Ole Olsen was in the country he'd be invited to Coventry for free. The same goes for Tony Rickardsson at Poole. I wouldn't expect the likes of Peter Collins, Alan Wilkinson, Jason Crump, Jason Lyons to pay at Belle Vue, nor Terry Betts at King's Lynn, Martin Ashby at Swindon, Sam Ermolenko or Ronnie Corrie at Wolves etc etc. But I wouldn't let every Tom, Dick and Harry walk in without paying every week, as some feel they have the right to. A lot of ex-riders who want to attend every week give their services anyway as managers, machine examiners, clerks of the course, or working in hospitality. Football clubs often use ex-players to look after VIPs in hospitality. Garry Stead takes on this kind of role at Belle Vue and is very good at it. So I say let in club legends, and find a role for riders who want to give something back to the sport, but no automatic right to any lesser ex-rider who wants to come along every week and just get sozzled at the bar.
  9. He wasn't mocking the demented. He was mocking you... ...Oh yes, I see your point!
  10. It's the same in Sweden. Sex with an under 15-year-old is charged as rape. (Also it can be charged as rape if it is someone aged 15-17 and the other person is in a "position of trust").
  11. So what's your point? Swindon with the old fashioned system of pay cash at the turnstiles had to delay the start by 15 mins. Belle Vue with the modern 21st century system, which you seem to find more complicated, had to get a much larger crowd in, and still only had to delay the start 15 mins?
  12. Does seem very odd comments especially from a Brummies supporter who is forking out £12 (or whatever it is) per meeting to watch the likes of Zack Wajknecht, Danyon Hume, Jack Blackburn and Jack Smith. If you watched second half meetings, amateur meetings, under16s, etc, you could have been watching those very same riders for the last couple of years for free!
  13. Was it the May day bank holiday that Belle Vue used to always race at King's Lynn at 11am and then at Sheffield at 7.30pm on the way back?
  14. I'm sure SCB will be along as soon as he's worked out the standard deviation and a weighted average to give us the answer
  15. He's only a little fella. Probably fallen into one of the ruts and can't get out.
  16. Glug...... ....glug..... .............glug........ The pirate ship is sinking.
  17. Will there be a statement from Chapman on behalf of the BSPA saying it's not the BSPA's fault, and that Poole are totally responsible for the disgrace of a track, and there will be an enquiry into how Poole made a laughing stock of the sport on national TV?
  18. Nige and Kelv think it's harsh when Hans is pulled back for jumping the start. Yet didn't say a word when Cook was excluded for not jumping the start
  19. Actually you're not. It's another ridiculous cock up in the rules. If you're excluded for touching the tapes under SR15.3 you can be replaced by a reserve. If you're excluded for moving at the start (but not touching the tapes) under SR15.3.1 you can't be replaced by a reserve But how do you touch the tapes without moving?
  20. The new streamlined Speedway Regulations. SR1. Poole must win SR2. If Poole are losing, see SR.1
  21. Ridiculous exclusion. Nothing at all wrong with the first start. Very little wrong with the second. No doubt Muddlo thinks he made a meal of it, like Jacobs did when Kurtz had 2 goes at knocking him off.
  22. That didn't take much finding. Data from the Met Office. Average yearly rainfall in cm (1981-2010) Cardiff 115.19cm Glasgow 112.43 Preston 103.36 Huddersfield 102.84 Plymouth 100.74 Blackpool 88.27 Carlisle 87.21 Manchester 86.71 Bournemouth 83.52 Other speedway places: Sheffield 83.46 Stoke 80.61 Birmingham 80.49 Edinburgh 70.42 Coventry 70.01 Wolverhampton 68.12 Newcastle 59.72 Middlesbrough 57.42 Ipswich 56.05
